Rishta naya rabba... dil choo raha hai

Title is the song 'Teri ore' from movie 'Singh is King'

When Naina opened her eyes to the soft music of alarm on her phone, it was still dark outside. It wouldn't be before another couple of hours that the activity outside start. She and Sameer had to make sure they were in their separate rooms when it happened.

She turned to look at her husband of few months, who would marry her again today. A chuckle escaped her lips... for a person who vowed never to marry, she was breaking records by getting married second time in less than six months. To the same person. But then, she could get married to him every single day the rest of her life.

Sleeping on his stomach, his face resting on one arm, while his other arm remained over her belly, he looked adorable. The childlike innocence on his face was a sharp contrast to the mischief in his eyes when they would look at her once he was awake. She lightly pressed her hand to his cheek. His stubble pricked her fingers, sending tingles of pleasure right upto her toes. He looked ruggedly handsome with this shadow. She was tempted to pepper kisses on his darkened jaw. But that would lead to a reaction from him which could delay his leaving. And she couldn't risk that.

"Sameer." She uttered in a soft voice, close to his ear.

The only response she received was a tightened hold around her waist, which pulled her closer to him. Naina found herself drowned in his warm musky scent. His eyes remained shut, but his fingers started to move a little, over her waist where her tshirt had ridden up. She didn't move, nor tried to stop him. With feather light strokes, he lazily rubbed the velvety soft skin, moving towards her belly. Naina swallowed hard as his thumb traced her navel, making her goosebumps grow enormous. She was sure he could feel them on her skin. Her hands on his tshirt fisted as she fought the urge to let out the moan that stuck in her throat.

Sameer could feel her quickened breath, her bumpy skin, her mild tremble, her tight grip on his tshirt... but he kept his eyes closed. He didn't want to stop himself by looking at any hesitation in her eyes. If Naina wanted him to stop, she would have to say so.

He flattened his palm on her belly, which sucked in at the contact. His large hand had completely covered her abdomen, spanning from one side to the other. She did not shift her gaze from his eyes, or rather, his lashes, which rested on his cheeks. When his hand stayed in the same place for a while, she surged ahead, and pecked his lips.

Instantly, his eyes flew open. In the dim glow of night lamp, her face was radiant with the warmth of their closeness... her eyes sparkled in anticipation... her lips parted for...

His thoughts came to an abrupt halt as she lifted her chin, placing her lips on his while her clutched hands loosened to go behind his neck.

Sameer grabbed her waist, giving in to her dominance without any delay. He was ecstatic at how boldly she had started to initiate. The reluctance, or reservations that she had earlier had melted to a great extent. He was now more determined to get the room prepared to welcome her tonight.

Just when he was ready to take the control of kiss, she rolled away, leaving the bed before he could catch her.

"Naina." He groaned, lunging after her.

"Ab tumhe jaana chahiye Sameer. Itne dinon se chupi hui baat aaj sabke saamne nahi aani chahiye." She stood at the foot of the bed, away from his reach.

He fell back on the pillow, letting out a weary sigh. It would be a long day... but it would be the last without her.

At breakfast table, Sameer mentioned to nanu about taking Naina to her house. When he got to know the reason, nanu smiled knowingly, "Ek maa ke liye uski beti ki shaadi bohot khaas hoti hai. Gayatri ne bhi Vishakha ke paida hone ke kuch dino baad se hi uske liye sapne dekhna shuru kar diya tha. Naina ki maa ki tarah woh bhi apni beti ki shaadi nahi dekh paayi lekin uski sanjoyi hui cheezen Vishakha ne aaj bhi sambhal ke rakhi hain. Le jaa beta, Naina ko apni maa ki nishani pehenke unke saath hone ka ahsaas hoga toh usse zyada khushi hogi."

"Mummy, hum thodi der mein aate hain." Sameer later informed Vishakha who was issuing instructions to the cooks for lunch.

She gave a startled look to them, "Tum dono kahan jaa rahe ho? Aaj kahin nahi jaa sakte. Aaj shaadi hai tumhari."

Sameer smiled, "Pata hai mummy. Naina ko kuch samaan laana hai. Hum jaldi aa jayenge."

Vishakha turned towards Naina, "Kuch chahiye toh mujhe batao. Main mangwa deti hun. Shaadi wale din bahar kyon jaana hai."

Naina glanced at Sameer as he was about to speak again, and gestured that she would explain. Looking back at Vishakha, she said, "Mummy, mujhe ghar se woh jewellery laani hai jo mumma ne meri shaadi ke liye banwayi thi. I'm sorry main aaj jaa rahi hun... pata nahi kyon, pehle khyal hi nahi aaya. Woh mujhe dulhan bante hue dekhna chahti thi. Aaj jab woh din aaya hai toh main..."

Vishakha placed a hand on her cheek as her voice faltered, "Haan, aaj tumhe wohi jewellery pehenni chahiye. Parents apne bachhon ki shaadi ke liye bohot se sapne dekhte hain. Jab woh poore hote hain toh unse zyada khush koi nahi ho sakta. Aaj Sameer ke sar pe sehra dekh ke jaise mujhe khushi hogi, waise tumhare parents jahan bhi honge, tumhe dulhan bane dekh ke unhe bohot achha lagega."

Naina hugged Vishakha, relieved that she understood her sentiments.

When they reached Bhalla aunty's house, she was surprised to find the garden well maintained. There were no flowering plants, but grass was trimmed and other plants were lush and green. She quickly entered the gate, half expecting aunty to come out. But main door was locked.

"Sab kuch itna saaf hai, garden bhi last time jaisa nahi hai. Kya aunty uncle wapas aa gaye? Lekin aate to aunty mujhe call karti na." She mumbled to herself.

Sameer looped an arm around her shoulder, "Last time tum ghar ki condition dekh ke upset ho gayi thi. Isliye maine Kishore se baat karke maali ko regular aane ke liye bol diya tha... jisse hum jab bhi aaye, garden pehle jaisa mile tumhe."

She gave him an amazed look. In spite of knowing him for so long, she was still shocked at his gesture. During their previous visit, she had been sad at the state of garden, but never mentioned to him. He had seen the gloom in her eyes, and went ahead to rid her of it. She lifted her heels and wrapped her arms around his neck, giving a tight hug.

"Oh madam, romance ka mood hai toh andar chalte hain na. Yahan sabke saamne... waise mujhe koi problem nahi hai." He grinned, encircling her waist to hold her in an equally tight embrace.

It was his turn to be surprised when she gave him a kiss on the cheek before drawing back, and smiled gratefully, "I love you so much."

He narrowed his eyes, giving a suggestive smirk, "Prove it."

She punched his chest lightly, and ran up the stairs, but not before he noticed the rush of colour on her face. With a wide grin, he followed her.

When Naina gently picked up the necklace from the box she had taken out from bottom drawer of her closet, she had to blink hard to clear the blurry sight. This was the first time she was checking it after her parents were gone. She never had the heart to open the box after them.

Sameer took the necklace from her, and placed it against her neck, tilting his head to admire it. Then he joined his index finger with his thumb, raising his brows in appreciation, "Mumma ki choice toh kamaal hai. It's a beautiful design. Ab mujhe yakeen ho gaya ki woh mujhe zarur choose karti."

Naina let out a small laugh at his self praise, but agreed with him. Her mom would have readily chosen Sameer for her... he was the best.

She noticed something else in the box. In a small pouch, wrapped in a silk cloth, there was a gold chain. It belonged to her father. She hadn't noticed when he had stopped wearing it, but it was definitely put in the box by her mom. She recalled Dhruv's sister's marriage, when his parents had gifted a gold chain to their son in law. Her father would have got something like this for Sameer had he been here to witness their marriage. Looking at the similar piece in her hand, she wondered if it was kept here as a sign...

"Sameer," She looked at him, "kya tum papa ki yeh chain unka gift samajh ke accept karoge?"

His gave her a soft smile, "Kya tum mujhe papa ki taraf se itna anmol gift dogi?"

She nodded, holding back the tears, and held out her hand, offering it to him. Sameer pursed his lips, not making any effort to take it from her, and leaned in front of her, lowering his head.

Tears rolled down her cheeks as Naina put the chain around his neck. She was sure her dad would be contented to see Sameer in her life.

"Yeh chain mere liye papa mumma ka ashirwad hai. Naina, ek baar tumne mujhe papa ka shawl diya tha, aur aaj unki chain... aisa lagta hai jaise ab woh mere saath hain." He ran his fingers around the gift from the people he could never meet, but was indebted to... forever.

She went into his arms, feeling at peace with everything.

After lunch, nanu and Vivek retired to their rooms while Rohan, along with Sanjay and Raghav got busy to check the arrangements outside. Vishakha asked Sameer and Naina to rest for some time, "Naina, tumhe ready karne ke liye stylists do ghante baad ayenge. Maine tumhara outfit ready karwake room mein rakhwa diya hai. Ek baar dekh lena agar kuch aur chahiye ho toh. Waise Preeti thodi der mein aati hogi, tumhe help karne ke liye."

Sameer offered magnanimously, "Preeti ko apna kaam karne do mummy. Naina ko main help kar deta hun. Bolo kya karna hai."

Vishakha held his ear, stating in a warning tone, "Tujhe Naina ke room se door rehna hai. Samjha? Dulhan ko ab tu mandap mein hi milega. Aur koi badmashi ki na... toh dekh lena."

Sameer pouted, "Main kahan badmashi karta hun mummy. Jabse aapne alag rehne ko kaha hai maine ek baar bhi Naina ko hamare room mein nahi aane diya. Saaf saaf keh diya usse ki mummy ne bola NO... means NO. Aur aap ho ki mujhpe hi shaq kar rahi ho."

Naina's eyes widened at the way he made it sound, colour creeping up on her face when Vishakha gave her a narrow eyed look. Before she could say anything to defend herself, Sameer quickly diverted his mom's attention, "Main toh bas aap logon ko help offer kar rah hun. Matlab, aap sab itne busy ho itne din se, thak gaye hoge na... toh thoda kaam mujhe bata do."

Rohan tapped his shoulder from behind, "Of course bhai. Bahar aake zara phool lagwa do... mandap mein. White lilies aaye hain bohot saare."

"White lilies?" Vishakha was baffled, "Lekin maine toh orchids bola tha, special pink orchids."

Rohan was quick to pacify her, "Pink orchids bhi hain mummy. Decoration waisi hi ho rahi hai jaisi aapne boli thi."

Vishakha shook her head in exasperation, "Ab mujhe aur koi changes nahi chahiye layout mein. Maine jo approve kiya hai planners ko bolna sab kuch waisa hi hona chahiye. Rohan, keep an eye."

Rohan placed his hands on her shoulders, making her turn around, "Mummy, aap bhi thoda rest kar lijiye. Aapka beta bohot efficient hai, sab dekh lega."

Sameer crossed his arms, "Lekin abhi toh tujhe in charge banaya hai na. Obviously mummy ko tension rahegi."

Unperturbed by the jab, Rohan looked at his bhabhi, "Naina, tum bhi jao. Warna bhai baton ke bahane tumhe apne saamne se hatne nahi denge."

Sameer flared up instantly, "Mummy, aap Rohan ko samjha do. Har waqt Naina ko naam se kyon bulata hai bhabhi bolna chahiye na. Aisa disrespect karna thodi sikhaya hai aapne hum logon ko."

Rohan smirked, having successfully riled up his brother again, till Vishakha lightly smacked his head, "Sahi keh raha hai Sameer. Bhabhi bola kar Naina ko. Umr mein choti hai toh kya, rishte mein toh badi hai na."

Naina smiled, "Rohan mujhe bhabhi hi bolta hai, mummy. Woh toh bas Sameer ke saamne..." She looked at her husband who fumed yet again as she took Rohan's side, "...sirf Sameer ko tease karta hai aur kuch nahi."

Vishakha rolled her eyes, murmuring as she walked away, "Shaadi ho rahi hai dono bhaiyon ki lekin aise behave karte hain jaise fifth standard mein hon. Inse zyada samajhdaar toh Ayush hai."

"Aakhir mera beta hai." Sameer declared proudly.

Vishakha turned back to reprimand him, "Tu hi usse kuch seekh le. Saara time jhagadte rehte ho dono."

Sameer glared at Rohan after Vishakha was gone, "Mummy ko naraaz kar diya na."

Rohan threw his hands in air, "Maine kya kiya? Naak phula ke saara din aap ghoomte ho. Main toh sabse pyar se hi baat karta hun." Turning his gaze to Naina, he smiled lovingly, "Haina Naina."

She burst out laughing while Rohan sprinted away to save himself from Sameer's lashing.

"Badi hansi aa rahi hai na. Baad mein bataunga tumhe." He frowned at her as they walked up together.

"Sameer, tum sach mein gussa ho gaye kya? Rohan toh mazaak kar raha tha." Naina gave him a questioning look.

"Achha!" He quirked up a brow, "Rohan ko bada pehchanne lagi ho. Aur main sach mein gussa hun ya nahi yeh puchna pad raha hai."

She stopped at the top of the stairs, smiling at him, "Sabse zyada toh tumhe hi pehchannti hun. Tumhara gussa sirf dikhawe ka hai. Dil mein kya hai pata hai mujhe."

"Hmm. Toh batao mere dil mein kya hai." He took slow steps towards her, his hands in pocket.

Naina stepped back hastily, looking around, "Sameer kya kar rahe ho. Yahan corridor mein koi bhi aa sakta hai."

"Main kya kar raha hun. Maine toh tumhe chuaa tak nahi." He kept moving ahead till she was plastered against the door of their room, and jerked her head to look behind.

He gave a lopsided smile, "Sorry, abhi tum andar nahi jaa sakti. Allowed nahi hai."

"Mujhe... jaana bhi nahi hai." She huffed, turning red as he closed the distance between them, without touching her with his hands.

"Sirf aaj raat tak... uske baad tumhara saara time issi room mein beetega." He whispered in a husky voice, leaning closer to her face.

"Dhatt." Naina pushed at his chest and ran away, stopping only at her door to glance back at him.

Her blushing smile made him let out a deep exhale as he ran his fingers through his hair.

Few hours later, when Naina stepped out of the washroom in her bridal lehenga, Preeti clasped her hands to her mouth, "Oh my God Naina, you look gorgeous."

Naina gave a tentative glance to herself in the full length mirror, turning right and left, "Are you sure? Bohot elaborate nahi ho gaya."

Preeti's mouth fell open, "Elaborate? Tune shaadiyon ke lehenga dekhe nahi kya? Muscles banane padte hain unhe carry karne ke liye. Tera toh kitna elegant design hai. It looks stunning."

Naina tuned her back to the mirror and glanced over her shoulder, "Iska blouse bhi kuch zyada hi deep kar diya peeche se. Kitna odd lagega."

"Kuch odd nahi lag raha. Aur peeche ka dikhega hi nahi jab dupatta aa jayega." Preeti consoled her.

"Jab dupatta se cover hona hai toh simple banana tha na." Naina muttered.

"Offo angry bird, aaj hi toh cover hoga. Dubara kabhi jab lehenga pehenegi tab toh dikhega na. Tu kya kit kit kar rahi hai bina baat ke. Chal baith yahan main makeup aur hair stylist ko bulati hun." Preeti pushed her towards the chair in front of the well lit mirror.

Naina clarified to the girls that she wanted subtle makeup and a manageable hairdo, nothing like the pictures they were showing. Owing to her long hair, they settled for a low bun, which would be covered with flowers. A few tendrils were curled and left around her face and neck to soften the look. After the makeup was done, and dupatta adjusted and pinned well on her head, Naina stood up to give herself a final look.

She had never imagined herself like this.

It all seemed so surreal.

If someone had told her an year ago that this would be her life now, Naina was sure she wouldn't have believed it. For someone who had always been averse to any relationship and seen her future as a blank, present scenario seemed impossible. Here she was today, a willing bride... dressed in a dazzling lehenga chosen by her mother in law, wearing the jewellery bought by her parents few years back, pampered by a sister like friend Preeti who fussed over the smallest detail, awaited by a family who were eager to see her in this role, smug in the knowledge that her husband would not just love her as his bride today, but cherish her as his wife all her life.

It felt like the story of her life had changed the book... she had been picked up from one script and put in another, where everything was bright, beautiful, lovable and so endearing.

She looked down at her palms, where the intricate pattern of henna had turned the darkest shade of red. Hidden between the design was the name that had changed her life completely. Sameer had not just loved her, he had made her love herself too. She wasn't scared anymore. She had finally been able to cross the threshold that separated her from rest of the people. With him beside her, she had stepped into the brightness that promised a future, not just existence for the sake of Ayush.

"Nainaaaa." As if he knew he was being remembered, Ayush barged into the room, bringing her out of her introspection.

She sat on the chair, to observe him from close, "Arre waah. Mera Ayush aaj kitna pyara lag raha hai. Yeh dress toh bohot sundar hai."

Ayush beamed, "Tumhe pata hai isse sherwani kehte hain. Jo lion jaise strong hote hain wohi pehen sakte hain. Isliye dadi maa ne leke diya hai kyonki main sabse strong hun." He lifted his arm to show his muscles, but frowned when he realised nothing was visible in full sleeves.

"Ruko, main nikal ke dikhata hun." He quickly reached for the buttons at his neck.

Naina stopped him, "Mujhe pata hai tu sabse strong hai. Abhi nikalega toh shaadi ke liye late ho jayenge na."

Ayush waved his head frantically, then roamed his eyes over Naina, "Oh wow Naina, tum toh Dhruv ki behen se bhi achhi wali shaadi lag rahi ho."

Preeti, who had just entered the room after finishing her makeup chuckled, "Shaadi nahi Naina dulhan hai."

"Okay," Ayush accepted without any question, "Tum bohot beautiful dulhan lag rahi ho." He went on his toes and kissed her cheek.

Overwhelmed, she hugged him.

"Ouch Naina, yeh sab mujhe chubh raha hai." Ayush squirmed as her jewellery poked him.

She straightened, laughing, "Tune hi kaha tha shaadi karne ko isliye sab kuch pehena hai."

He grinned, "Bohot nice hai. Dekhna main saare kaam karunga. Bade dadu ne kaha tha woh mujhe sab batayenge."

Naina was about to ruffle his hair lovingly but stopped, recalling his annoyance at spoiling his hairstyle.

Preeti patted his back, "Ab jaake dekh tere Sameer papa kaise lag rahe hain. Unki bhi shaadi hai na."

Ayush bobbed his head and darted out, leaving Naina wondering how Sameer would look as a dulha. Vishakha had not let them see each other's wedding outfit. As much as Sameer waited for his bride, she was eager to catch a glimpse of him too.

Hope you all are ready for the wedding. I don't intend to keep you waiting... you all are invited to Samaina's wedding tomorrow evening
