Koi kismat jaisa laage... khushiyan inn haathon pe likhta hi jaata hai

Title is the song 'Tera naam doon' from movie 'Entertainment'

"Preeti maasi, ab aap meri maasi nahi banogi?" Ayush climbed on the bed in Preeti's house, where he was with Naina, who was helping Preeti get dressed for the engagement ceremony.

"Kyon nahi banungi?" Preeti frowned, "Main toh teri permanent maasi hun."

Ayush scrunched his nose in confusion, "Lekin Rohan chachu ne kaha aapko maasi nahi bolna kyonki abse aap chachi ho."

Preeti gritted her teeth, "Iss Rohan ke bachhe ki toh main..."

Naina placed a hand on her mouth, silencing her midway, "Control madam, shaadi ho rahi hai teri."

After she had started to visit this house more frequently since her marriage, Naina had eventually dropped the formal conduct with Preeti, and started treating her like a sister, in true sense.

"Haan toh?" Preeti placed her hands on waist and glared at Naina, "Shaadi hone se kya main Ayush ki maasi nahi rahungi, kya teri behen nahi rahungi, kya mummy papa ki beti nahi rahungi? Kal bolega ki Preeti nahi Queen Elizabeth bulao toh maan jaungi?"

Naina doubled up in laughter, "Queen Elizabeth? Preeti... queen tak theek hai lekin Elizabeth ko England mein hi rehne dete hain."

"Ruk, abhi batati hun usko." Preeti fumed and dialled Rohan's number before Naina could stop her.

"Hi darling, itna miss kar rahi ho ki ceremony tak wait nahi ho raha." He picked up on one ring, his voice elated at her call.

Preeti growled into the phone, "Main kaun hun?"

There was a silence for a few seconds then Rohan's concerned voice boomed through in urgency, "Tumhari tabiyat theek hai na... gir gayi kya kahin? Chot wot lag gayi kya sar pe? Baaki sab kahan hain? Bhabhi nahi hai kya wahan? Aur aunty uncle? Ruko, main aata hun."

"Rohannn." Preeti hissed, "Tum abhi yahan nahi aa sakte, okay!"

"Thank God tumhe yeh toh yaad hai ki main kaun hun." Rohan breathed out in relief, "Lekin khud ko kaise bhool gayi sweetie? Mere pyar mein pagal wagal ho gayi kya?"

Preeti rolled her eyes, "Itna bhi pyar nahi hai ki pagal ho jaun."

"Achha... toh kitna hai?" Rohan asked in a teasing voice, "Itna toh hai na ki shaadi se bhaag nahi jaogi? Mujhe akele honeymoon pe jaane ka koi shauk nahi hai."

"Shut up." Preeti blushed and ended the call.

Naina had been watching her all the while, resting her face on her fist. After the call, she raised a brow, "Kya kaha Rohan ne?"

Preeti waved her head, a smile lurking at the corner of her lips, "Pagal hai... puch raha tha shaadi se bhaag toh nahi jaungi."

Naina shook her head, "Na na woh sab nahi... maasi chachi wali baat ke liye kya kaha?"

"Oh damn! Woh toh puchna hi bhool gayi." Preeti slapped the side of her head, "Phir se call karti hun."

Naina took the phone from her hand and put it aside, smiling at her, "Koi zarurat nahi hai. Jab gussa aata nahi toh zabardasti kyon dikhati hai usko? Aur rahi yeh maasi chachi wali baat, toh kya farq padta hai. Ayush kabhi tujhe maasi keh dega kabhi chachi."

Ayush, who was not able to comprehend why his Preeti maasi got annoyed with what he told her, jumped up on the bed, "Haan, yehi bola tha Rohan chachu ne... jab uss wale house mein honge toh aapko Preeti chachi bolun aur jab iss wale house mein ayenge toh aapko maasi aur chachu ko umm... maasi jaisa hi kuch tha..." He scratched his head, trying to recall the word.

"Mausaji." Naina offered.

"Haan... mausaji." Ayush beamed, clapping, "Unhone kaha aise hi bolna... aap aur woh abse dono ho... kyonki woh Sameer papa ke brother hain aur aap Naina mumma ki sister."

Naina looked at Preeti, "Dekha. Rohan ne toh kitni pyari baat boli hai aur tu chadh gayi uspe ration paanni leke."

Preeti pinched Ayush's cheek, "Chota sa hai lekin dhamake bade wale karne mein capable hai."

"Naii, main chota nahi hun main big hun." Ayush screamed, and ran out.

Preeti gave a sheepish smile to Naina, "Ab poori baat nahi pata thi toh... achha baba ho gayi na mistake." She tugged Naina's arm when she kept looking at her with stern face, "Chal ab jaldi se yeh baal set kar de, Rohan ko wait nahi karwana chahiye na."

"Aye hayee, ab badi chinta ho rahi hai Rohan ki. Yeh bol tujhse wait nahi ho raha." Naina teased, getting back to her hair as Preeti blushed.

Sameer was not happy that Naina would be meeting him at Preeti's house, where the ring ceremony was to be held. He paced impatiently in the living room, asking Ramdhari to go and check how long Rohan would take.

"Sameer bhaiya, pichle pandrah minute mein hum nau baar puch aaye hain. Ab dasvi baar gaye toh Rohan bhaiya se daant pad jayegi." Ramdhari wearily wiped his hands with the napkin on his shoulder.

"Nahi gaya toh mujhse daant khayega. Rohan ko bol sagai hai shaadi nahi jo itni der se saj raha hai." Sameer was exasperated.

Deepika tapped her fingers thoughtfully on the table, "Sochne wali baat yeh hai bhai ki Rohan bhai ko toh shaadi mein bhi sherwani hi pehenni hai. Aaj ke bandgale se zyada alag thodi hogi. Extra kya sajenge shaadi ke liye? Sajna toh dulhan ko hota hai."

Sameer slumped on the dining chair opposite her, checking his watch, "Wohi toh keh raha hun. Ek suit pehenne mein itni der laga raha hai. Time ki value hi nahi hai."

Vivek, who had just come out of his room, cleared his throat, "Time abhi hua kahan hai Sameer? Abhi toh adha ghanta hai nikalne mein."

"Adha ghanta? Itni der se jaake kaise chalega?" Sameer gasped.

Nanu put aside the newspaper that he was silently peering at, "Kyon barkhurdaar, tumhe kya wahan jalebiyan talni hain jo itni jaldi ho rahi hai?"

Vishakha brought a few gifts from inside and handed to Ramdhari, smiling, "Apni shaadi mein bhi har rasm ke liye aise hi utavla tha aur ab bhai ke liye bhi. Lagta hai Sameer ko shaadi ke functions ab pasand aa gaye hain. Warna pehle toh kisi ki shaadi mein chalne ko ready hi nahi hota tha."

Rohan hopped down the stairs, "Bilkul yehi baat hai, mummy. Bhai ko ab shaadiyon mein jaana achha lagta hai isliye impatient ho rahe hain. Aisa karna, next month aap log Banaras jaa rahe ho na kisi door ke relative ki shaadi mein, bhai ko le jaana."

Vivek laughed, "Kyon nahi. Banaras wale toh kabse ready hain inke liye."

Deepika chuckled, "Of course, unke sangeet ke liye bhai aur bhabhi aisa special performance denge na, kisi romantic se song pe, ki sab bhool jayenge kiski shaadi hai. Poore Banaras mein sirf do hi naam honge... Sameer aur Naina."

Sameer shrugged, "Mujhe koi problem nahi hai. Naina kahegi toh jaa sakte hain."

Vishakha widened her eyes in surprise, "Tu chalega? Pata bhi hai kiske yahan jaana hai?"

Rohan held her shoulders, prodding her towards the door, "Mummy, unki shaadi se pehle meri shaadi hai, jo tabhi hogi jab aaj engagement hogi. Kya thoda sa attention iss bichare dulhe ko bhi mil sakta hai?"

Vishakha rolled her eyes, walking with him, "Saare dramebaaz mere hi ghar mein ikathe ho gaye hain. Tumse zyada mujhe chinta hai, dulhe ji. Ramdhari ke haath gifts aur sweets bhijwa bhi diye maine."

"Mujhe bol dete, main pehle hi de aata." Sameer rushed to the door, happy that they were finally leaving.

Vishakha looked at him strangely, "Tu kyon leke jaata? Arre tu toh daamad hai unka, style mein jaana wahan pe."

Rohan took her in a sid hug, "Mummy, hum dono bachpan se uss ghar mein jaate hain. Ab achanak alag style thodi dikhayenge. Hum jaise pehle the waise hi rahenge. Haina bhai."

Agreeing with him, Sameer stated, "Yeh sab bees tees saal pehle ki baatein hain mummy. Ab aisa kuch nahi hota. Jaise yeh ghar hamara hai, waise woh bhi hai."

Nanu patted his back, "Bilkul sahi kaha. Tum dono ab uss ghar ke bhi bete ho. Anand aur Bela ka khyal rakhna tumhara farz hai."

Sameer was the first one to enter the house next door. Anand and Bela greeted the family but his eyes searched behind them as he craned his neck, waiting to see the face he was missing badly.

Bela smiled at him, "Kise dhoond rahe ho beta?"

Sameer straightened immediately, "Main... woh... N... Ayush ko... Ayush ko dhoond raha hun. Bohot der se yahan hai na... miss kar raha tha."

"Ayush toh Naina ke saath hai, Preeti ke kamre mein." Bela said.

'Achha. Main wahin jaake mil leta hun." He quickly took a few steps ahead when Vishakha stopped him.

"Sameer, woh log neeche aate hi honge. Ruk jao. Aise ladkiyon ke room mein nahi jaate." She said in a low voice.

His face fell. But next moment, it lit up as he saw Naina alighting the stairs with Preeti, Ayush sprinting down ahead of them. Dressed in a blue gown, she looked no less than a princess. The midnight blue gown had a sprinkling of glittering silver, like stars in a night sky. And she was the moon. His moon.

"Sameer papa, dekho maine same aapke jaisa blue jacket pehna hai." Ayush pulled the lapels of his blazer excitedly.

The dress code was blue for the day, hence all were wearing some shade of the same colour. Sameer was in a blue formal suit, over a darker blue shirt. Though Naina had herself selected the suit for him, she stared at him unblinking now, admiring his elegant and utterly good looks.

Sameer bent down to praise Ayush, "Lekin tum mujhse bhi zyada handsome ho."

He pointed at Rohan, "Nahi, sabse zyada handsome aaj Rohan chachu lag rahe hain."

Rohan smiled widely and picked him up, "Tu na mera sabse favourite wala nephew hai."

Deepika huffed, "Kisne kaha Rohan bhai handsome lag rahe hain? Mujhe toh..."

Ayush looked at the stairs and exclaimed loudly, "Preeti maasi ne kaha ki Rohan chachu best hain, aur handsome bhi."

Preeti stopped midway, her mouth open in shock as everyone laughed. Rohan grinned when their eyes met, and she blushed to the roots.

When they stood together after a few minutes, he leaned sideways to whisper to her, "Mujhse bhi kabhi kabhi keh diya karo yaar. Main bechara tareef ke do bol sunne ko taras jaata hun."

"Shut up Rohan." Preeti huffed, still embarrassed at Ayush's declaration.

He smirked, "Ab toh raaz khul gaya. Ayush waise hai bade kaam ka. Usse thodi chocolates deke patana padega... jisse baaki saari baatein bhi bata de, jo tum mere baare mein kehti ho."

Preeti gave him a shocked look, "No way. Tum aisa kuch nahi karoge."

He smiled in satisfaction, "Okay. Iska matlab baatein karti ho tum. Chalo, itna toh pata chala."

She was about to smack him when she realised everyone was looking in their direction as Bela approached them with a decorated tray with two rings. They slipped the rings onto each other's fingers, and smiled lovingly while pictures were being clicked from all angles.

While everyone was busy having dinner later, Naina held Sameer's hand and dragged him up the stairs.

"Meri biwi badi bold ho gayi hai. Sabke saamne haath pakad ke romance ke liye chat pe... not bad, Naina. Seekh rahi ho." He grinned as they stepped out on open terrace two floors above.

Unfazed by this teasing, she stood holding his hands, looking into his eyes. Her silence unnerved him.

"Naina, kya hua? Sab theek hai na?" He asked in concern, twisting his hands to get out of her hold... to take her in his arms.

Naina tightened her grip, but her voice was soft when she spoke, "Sameer, hamari shaadi mein sab kuch hua... saari rasmein, saare functions, lekin engagement nahi hui. Mujhe toh khyal bhi nahi aaya, jab tak Preeti ne bataya nahi ki sagai ki ring iss ungli mein hi kyon pehnate hain... kyonki iski nas seedhe dil se judi hoti hai."

Sameer was confused when she lifted her left hand, "Lekin ismein ring hai toh sahi Naina, jo maine tumhe pehnai thi."

"Par tumhari ungli mein toh nahi hai." She brought his hand up, looking sadly at it.

Before he could think of a soothing reply, Naina opened her clutch, and fished out a small pouch. He watched as she removed two identical rings from it. They were neither flashy, nor elaborate, just plain bands in platinum.

Naina smiled, "Mujhe bhi toh tumhare dil tak pohonchna hai."

He picked the smaller ring. It had his name engraved on the inner side. And the one Naina was holding had her name. He forwarded his hand first, as he had seen Rohan do sometime back. She slipped it on his ring finger, then brought the hand to her lips and kissed over it. His eyes twinkling, he did the same, after making her wear the ring. The one he had given her earlier now adorned her right hand.

She placed her hand next to his, palm down and beamed at their similar rings.

Ending the distance between them, Sameer cupped her face, "Tum toh mere dil mein tabse ho jaan jabse tumhara naam suna tha. Ring ho ya na ho, mere dil se Naina ka naam iss tarah judd chuka hai ki ab yeh iss janam mein toh kya kisi bhi janam mein mit nahi sakta."

She placed one palm on his chest, over his heart, "Jaanti hun. Phir bhi chahti thi ki tumhare naam ki ring mere haath mein ho, aur mere naam ki tumhare."

Sameer grasped her hand that was on his chest, his eyes filled with love, "Agar tum pehle kehti toh yeh ring kabki pehna deta tumhe. Naina, main chahta hun tum woh sab karo jo tumhara dil kehta hai."

She raised herself on toes, and brushed her lips over his jaw, a redolent smile on her face, "Woh baad mein... abhi ring kaafi hai."

He leaned, aiming for her lips, "Ek trailer... chota sa."

"Nahi." She stalled him, "Meri lipstick kharab ho jayegi."

He threw his head back in irritation, "Yeh lipstick bhi na... Naina, I was missing you so much. Tum lunch ke baad se yahan par ho, aur main ghar pe akela. Kuch toh compensation milna chahiye mujhe wahan chod ke aane ka."

"Mera maayka hai, jab chahe aa sakti hun." She raised her chin in air, haughtily.

Sameer had been thinking whole afternoon that he would show annoyance when he met her, because she spent all her time here, but now, seeing her revelling in the acceptance of this house as her own, he was overwhelmed. It was a solace to see her eyes free from haunting shadows and her heart warming up to these new relations.

"Tum aa sakti ho toh main bhi aa sakta hun, aakhir mera bhi sasuraal hai. Mujhe kaun manaa karega. Aur nanu ne bhi kaha ki main beta hun iss ghar ka." He said lightly.

"Haww, "Naina widened her eyes, "Aise peeche peeche thodi aaoge. Joru ka ghulam bolenge sab."

"Woh toh main hun. Bolne do." He shrugged nonchalantly.

"Buddhu." She giggled, "Joru ke ghulam nahi, mere hero ho tum."

"Aur tum heroine... iss hero ki. Haina?" He wrapped his arms around her waist. She nodded.

"You look beautiful." He whispered, her dark lined eyes casting a spell on him

Taaron bhari raat ki chaadar mein
khilta hua chaand ho tum

Meri kahani ki pari ho
mere dil pe likha naam ho tum

Meri saanson ke sukoon ko
mohabbat se mila inaam ho tum

When they went down a little later, Preeti nudged her, "Pata tha mujhe, tera Romeo apne liye time pakka mangega. Usse bardasht nahi hua na ki tu itni der se mere saath hai."

Naina glanced at Sameer who was laughing at something with nanu, Vivek and Anand, "Sameer ko main leke gayi thi." She showed her hand to her sister.

Preeti squealed, "Oh wow, new ring."

Naina explained how they were never formally engaged, and though she had a ring given by Sameer, she hadn't given one to him earlier.

"Kya baat hai behen, tu badi romantic types ho gayi hai. Yeh wohi Naina hai kya, jise pyar pe yakeen tak nahi tha." Preeti hugged her.

Naina traced her ring after they parted, "Yeh wohi Naina hai, lekin ab iske haathon ki lakeeren jiske naam se judd gayi hain usne na sirf pyar pe yakeen dilaya balki mujhe jeena sikha diya... apne pyar ke liye, apne Sameer ke liye."
