Dil ke armanon mein behisaabi ho gayi

Title is a song that you'll know in the update

Sameer stood rooted to the spot, staring at the sight that was nothing less than surreal. If her calm smile warmed his heart, everything else heated up his blood to make the fire burn him completely.

Her hair were open, and spread behind her like a cape. A few wisps still managed to find place on her forehead, but one long strand was glued to her neck, coming down her front to reach her crossed arms. Last time when they had got drenched together, she was too close for him to notice how curvaceous her body turned when the night suit stuck to her. But today, from here, he could see, and his heartbeat started to rise beyond his control. His throat went dry at the vision. The way her knee length dress was plastered on her form, it looked like it was painted on her. Her legs below the dress gleamed as water trickled over them. Standing bare feet, her legs were a striking contrast against her charcoal dress.

Her face... the way water droplets slipped down after touching each and every part of her face... the forehead, eyes, her cheeks, lips, and down the chin... he felt a sharp pang of jealousy hit him. Why was he so far from her when the drops that had travelled all the way from sky could touch her so easily! Because of the strong wind, the thick curtain of rain seemed to be swaying towards her, instead of falling straight. It was like the raindrops were competing with each other to reach her. And she was reveling in that touch. With every passing second, and every raindrop falling on her, his breaths were getting heavier.

She threw her head back, taking the deluge of rain on her face. Her smile got bigger as the water hit her directly. Keeping her eyes closed, she shook her head a few times. As the wet locks wriggled, more water kissed her. It was a great test of Sameer's patience. All he wanted at the moment was to close the distance between them, and hide her in his arms... not let the raindrops slide down from her face, touching her at places where his eyes were hesitant to drift.

"Tumhe pata nahi hai Naina, maine kaise khud ko roka hua hai. Iss tarah satane ka badla lunga tumse ek din. Iss baarish ko phir se aana hoga... jab hum itni door nahi, ek doosre ke kareeb honge. Tab inn boondon se tumhe choone ka hisaab lunga main." He groaned inwardly.

It was the sound of Ayush's giggles that made him realise that he wasn't alone...

"Naina hamesha aise hi baarish mein bheegti hai. Buddhu hai, haina?" The little boy had no idea what adjectives Sameer presently had in mind for her... and 'buddhu' certainly wasn't one of them.

"Naina ko baarish achhi lagti hai?" He asked, astounded at how hoarse his voice sounded.

"Pata nahi. Mumma bhi gussa karti hain. Lekin Naina bas hans ke bhaag jaati hai." Ayush shook his head like grown ups.

And straight away, Sameer fell in love with rains too. If it meant being with her out there, he was ready to drench in every downpour.

"Nainaaaa." Ayush ran to the glass door, banging on it before Sameer could stop him.

Her head jerked towards him, and she grinned. Folding her palms, she collected some rainwater in it and splashed at him. Since the door was shut, the drops splattered on the glass... still Ayush jumped back, making a face and ran to hide behind Sameer.

That is when she saw him.

Quickly wiping her face, she gulped, suddenly aware of her wet clothes.

Sameer lowered his head, looking at Ayush, "Hum TV dekhen?"

"Lekin Naina?" Ayush pointed at her.

Sameer gave a quick glance to her, noting how she consciously rubbed her arms, keeping them crossed ahead of her.

"Naina thodi der mein aa jayegi. Come." He turned and took Ayush along, closing her door behind him.

Tearing his gaze away from her, or moving away wasn't easy... but needed.

Her eyes still stuck to the spot where he was visible moments ago, Naina stood shivering in the rain. When she had got lured by the heavy downpour and stepped out on the terrace, it did not occur to her that she would lose the sense of time. The rains were something she couldn't resist. Even on her gloomiest day, she would find peace and solace soaking in the downpour. Today, with her heart filled with the realisation of love, watching the pattering raindrops made every cell in her body dance at the perfect timing of rain. Drenched in love, and drenched in rain at the same time was the perfect combination... that she had never dreamt of finding in her life. But here it was.

And he had seen her like this...

The shiver she felt from the roots of her hair upto her toenails had nothing to do with the cold onslaught of water or the winds accompanying it. It was a shiver arising from the heat which spread in her veins at a rapid pace. She had not bothered to change her thin cotton dress before stepping out. Her eyes darted to herself, and the deep colour made its way on her face. Squeezing her eyes shut, she let out a swoosh of breath, abashed at the picture she must have presented.

Quickly getting inside, she grabbed a bathrobe and rushed to the washroom.

As if the scene Sameer had just witnessed wasn't enough, Ayush paused at a channel playing a Holi song. Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone danced on the song that had become an anthem at every holi celebration

Balam pichkari jo tune mujhe mari
toh seedhi saadi chori sharaabi ho gayi

Haa jeans pehen ke jo tune maara thumka
toh lattoo padosan ki bhabhi ho gayi

"Sameer, dekho yahan pe holi hai. Aapko pata hai, papa mere liye holi pe big wali pichkari laye the, aur maine Naina pe dhere saara paani daal diya, colour wala." Ayush excitedly clutched his arm.

"Umm, hum cartoon wala show dekhen?" Sameer took the remote from him.

"Haan." Ayush crossed his legs, settling to watch his favourite channel.

After putting it for him, Sameer was lost in thoughts again. He never played Holi. It gave far too many marks. He couldn't even put up with the sight of people enjoying it... how could somebody like colour smudged all over their faces and clothes. The glimpse of Holi scene on TV just now, however, gave him a different perspective. He saw the same ecstatic expression on the faces of actors that he witnessed on Naina's face moments back, as she soaked in rain. Was it actually so blissful? In that moment, he had wanted to be with her... wanted to be a part of something she so obviously was loving. What Ayush said confirmed that she played Holi too. Would she be this thrilled to be drenched in coloured water?

His mind was taken over by his heart again...

Dressed like Ranbir Kapoor in white shirt and jeans, he filled up the pichkari with coloured water and splashed on unsuspecting Naina.

"Offo Sameer. Yeh kya kiya tumne? Meri white shirt poori pink kar di." Naina pouted at him, flicking the water off her front.

With slow steps he moved towards her, putting aside the pichkari.

"Sameer, yeh kya kar rahe ho? Dekho, aage mat aana... main keh rahi hun aage mat aana." She took a step back, her eyes wide at the smirk on his face.

Without leaving her sight, Sameer kept moving. Naina took another step behind, and her back hit the wall. With a startled look, she jerked her head to peer at the hinderance behind her. When she looked back at him, Sameer was just a step away, his lips stretched into a lopsided smile.

Taking another step, but not touching her, he removed his sunglasses and flicked them aside. The glint in his eyes made Naina draw in a sharp breath.

"Colour toh shirt pe daala hai, tumhare gaal kyon shirt se bhi zyada pink ho rahe hain?" He tilted his head, adoring the blush that spread on her face.

She gulped.

"Naina, bolo na... yeh rang kyon bikhra hai tumhare gaalon pe? Maine toh tumhe chua tak nahi." His heated breath fell on her face, making the colour turn deeper.

"Tum... tum jaante ho." She mumbled shyly.

"Nahi. Main nahi jaanta. Mujhe nahi pata tumhara dil mere liye kya kehta hai. Mujhe nahi pata tumhari dhadkan mein mera naam hai ya nahi. Main nahi jaanta mere paas aane se tumhe kya ahsaas hota hai. Bolo na, Naina, kya hota hai?" His husky voice made goosebumps erupt all over, even when he was standing a few inches away from her.

Sameer sharply turned his head down, when he felt her soft fingers wrap around his palm. His eyes followed their joined hands as she lifted them... and placed his palm on her heart. His own heart crashed against his chest, threatening to break his ribs.

"Khud sunn lo mera dil kya kehta hai. Yeh sirf tumhare naam leta hai, Sameer. Hamesha se. Tum nahi jaante the tab bhi yeh dil sirf tumhare liye dhadakta tha, meri dhadkan sirf tumse juddi thi. Aur ahsaas... kya tum mehsoos kar sakte ho mujhe kya ahsaas ho raha hai? Itne zoro se yeh dil pehle kabhi nahi dhadka. Sameer, yeh rang jo mere gaalon pe hai, tumhare hain... yeh tez dhadkan, tumhare liye hai... yeh dil kabse tumhara ho chuka. Yeh Naina sirf tumhare liye aayi hai, Sameer." Her words took him to a heaven he hadn't even known existed.

Slowly, his eyes drifted down, taking in the smooth skin peeking through her one open button of collared white shirt. The damp shirt was clinging to her, and he could see the effect of her rapid breathing. Her heart thudded at unbelievable pace under his palm. His own wasn't in control either. The blue denim shorts clinched her narrow waist, leaving her long, shapely legs bare. When his eyes slowly reached up again, after drinking in the vision of her beauty, her cheeks were flaming.

"Sameer, please aise mat dekho." Her eyes locked with his.

"Kyon?" His voice turned heavier.

"Mujhe... mujhe awkward lagta hai. Tumne pehle pehle kabhi aise nahi dekha." She let the veil of lashes fall on her melting brown eyes.

He put a finger under her chin, lifting her face to get closer to him, "Main toh tumhe pehle din se aise hi dekh raha hun, Naina. Tumne hi nahi pehchana."

Her gaze lifted, "Ab toh pehchan liya na. Please, ab tum..."

Her words died down in her throat as his arm went around her waist, making her crash against his hard chest. Her hand rested flat on his chest.

"Ab main sirf dekhunga nahi, Naina." His eyes raced between her alluring caramel pools and her tempting, plump lips.

"Toh?" She asked in a breathless voice.

"Toh... toh socho main kya karunga." He grazed his knuckles against her burning cheek.

Her head dipped to the side, as her shoulder hitched up.

Opening his fisted hand, Sameer smeared her cheek and neck with the pink gulal. Naina gasped.

"Happy Holi, sweetheart." He grinned.

"Tum yeh karne wale the?" She blinked.

"Haan. Kyon tumhe kya laga?" Sameer said innocently.

She bit her lip, lowering her eyes. Sameer pinned her against the wall, and cupped her face with the hand that was covered with pink powder, turning it towards himself. She looked into his dark eyes, which appeared darker than ever.

"Tumse kitna pyar karta hun yeh batane ka time aa gaya hai, Naina." He whispered in a throaty voice.

Just when his lips were about to find their elixir, a strong push on his chest made him stumble back.

"Abhi time nahi aaya hai mister. Intezar karo." Giggling, she ran away from his hold.

Sameer lurched to catch her, but his hand waved into empty air.

"Naina. Yeh kaisi dry holi hai." He frowned.

The moment words were out of his mouth, a huge splash of water landed on him, colouring his white shirt to red completely.

"Lo. Ab dry nahi hai. Tumpe bhi rangon ke nishan aa gaye." She winked, holding the pichkari.

"Lekin mujhe ek aur nishan chahiye... yahan." He placed his index finger on his lower lip.

"No way. Sameer Maheshwari ko nishan pasand nahi hain na... isliye main aisa kuch nahi kar sakti." Naina widened her eyes in fake horror.

"Naina. Please na. Dekho tumne pehle hi mujhe itna sataya hai. Ab toh aa jao." He spread his arms.

"Nishan chalenge tumhe?" The mischievous glint in her eyes gave him a shimmering hope.

"Saare nishan chalenge... agar woh tum dogi toh." He puckered his lips, blowing her a kiss.

"Toh yeh lo." She threw two handfuls of pink gulal in him, covering him with stains from head to toe.

"Ab nahi chodunga tumhe." He sprinted towards her.

"Pehle pakad ke toh dikhao." Laughing, she dodged him, running away.

Before he could catch her, and fulfill his fantasy, Ayush shook him, bringing him out of his dreamy Holi, "Sameer, mujhe bhoon lagi hai."

Sameer looked down at the pristine white of his t-shirt. There was nothing... and the t shirt looked barren without any stain.

Damn the marks... he wouldn't mind anything to play such a Holi with Naina.

This was a special Holi update.

Due to some unavoidable situation that has come up in the family, I'll not be able to update for a few days. Will post an announcement regarding when I can update next.
Extremely sorry.
