Tu jo mila... toh ho gaya sab haasil
Title is the song 'Tu jo mila' from Bajrangi bhaijaan
Naina kept staring incredulously at the door till Sameer's snicker brought her out of the shock.
She gulped, "Tumhe lagta hai mummy ko sunn gaya hoga?"
He bent down to bring his face closer, and winked, "Pakka. Isliye itni khush thi ki tumhe unka beta coffee jitna perfect lagta hai."
"Sameeeer." She drawled, covering her eyes with her palm. It was so embarrassing.
Holding her wrist, he pulled her hand away, and smiled, "Kidding. Kuch nahi suna ho sakta. Mummy Ramdhari ke baad aayi thi. Woh coffee ke liye hi keh rahi thi. Ramdhari ko yehi instructions hain meri coffee ke liye." His eyes twinkled, "Aur ab toh sabhi jaante hain ki meri tumhari choice same hai."
She leaned back against the pillow, relieved and held up her bowl of upma, "Itni bhi same nahi hai. Tum alu paranthe khaoge aur main yeh upma."
His eyes drifted for a moment to the bowl, then came back to her, "Tum kaho toh tumhare liye bhi le aata hun."
"Nahi Sameer, acidity se tha lekin kal wala pain bohot scary tha." She took one spoon to her mouth, "Upma light hai aur healthy bhi. Main yehi khaungi."
He placed a soft kiss on her forehead before straightening, "Baat hamare babies ki hai isliye main force nahi karunga."
"Ab tum bhi naha lo aur jaake breakfast kar lo. Babies ke papa ko sirf sweet aur hot hi nahi, strong bhi bane rehna hai." She gave a crooked smile.
Sameer let out an exhale. Her teasing always did something uncontrollable to him. But now was not the time to let his passion rule his senses. Naina needed to rest, and he too was famished. Sighing, he picked up the towel and went to the washroom. When he came out sometime later, Naina was asleep. He was satisfied to see the empty bowl and cup. She had finished everything. Dressing up quickly, he went out, closing the door without making any noise. Instead of going down, he walked to Ayush's room. Since the summer vacations had started, Vishakha had forbidden Naina to make him get up early. She insisted that now he was growing up so he could do away with his afternoon naps but should sleep till late in the morning.
Sameer entered to find Ayush just out after his bath. Dressed in shorts and tshirt, he was brushing his hair, which were still dripping at the ends.
"Good morning Ayush." He tickled his son, making him burst into a belly laugh.
"Good morning papa." He replied, catching his breath after Sameer stopped, "Aap office nahi gaye?"
Sameer shook his head, "Aaj maine aur mumma ne chutti le li." He grabbed the towel that was lying on the bed, "Isse pehle mumma ki daant khani pade aao main tumhare baal wipe kar deta hun."
Ayush stuck out a tongue, "Maine socha mumma ko pata hi nahi chalega. Main roz aise hi chod deta hun. Cool cool hota hai."
Smiling, Sameer sat at the edge of the bed, rubbing at his hair ends, "Badmaash. Jis din pakde gaye pakka class lagegi tumhari."
"Main mumma ko dher saari kissi deke manaa lunga." Ayush grinned with confidence, "Unka gussa phurrr ho jayega."
Sameer's mouth twisted in a mischievous half smile as he combed Ayush's hair, "Waise achhi trick hai."
Ayush beamed, "Haina? Hum new wale baby ko bhi sikha denge. Phir mumma usse bhi gussa nahi karegi."
Sameer was about to tell him that he would have not one but two siblings, but decided to break the news later, when Naina was up. She would love to see his reaction too.
Deepika joined them as they were going down the stairs.
Sameer narrowed his eyes, "Ayush ki toh vacations hai. Tujhe itni late tak sona kaise allowed hai?"
"Meri bhi vacations hain bhai. College mein hoti hain remember?" Deepika raised her brows, "Ya aap bhool gaye college ka sab kuch. Age catching on?"
She had hopped down rest of the steps before Sameer could react... but halted abruptly as she saw the balloons. Ayush had a similar awed expression.
"Papa, aaj kiska happy birthday hai?" He gave a curious look to Sameer.
Sameer contemplated, then decided to stick to his earlier decision, "Pehle breakfast karo phir mumma batayengi ki yeh balloons kisliye hain."
He looked around for Naina, "Mumma toh yahan hain hi nahi."
Sameer was about to explain that Naina was in the room when Deepika shrieked. She had just noticed the message on the wall, and knew the precise reason of this celebration.
Her face shining with excitement, she jumped, "This is unbelievable bhai. Kya sachhi bhabhi..."
"Deepu." Nanu interrupted, having sensed Sameer's reason for not revealing to Ayush, "Tum bhi Naina se hi puchna, jab Ayush ke saath usse milogi, breakfast ke baad."
She opened her mouth to speak but nanu flicked his brows at Ayush, making her understand. Deepika silently nodded. However, unable to contain her enthusiasm, she ran to the kitchen, to Vishakha.
"Mummy, kya sachhi mein twins aane wale hain?" She whisper yelled, her eyes wide.
Vishakha smiled brightly, "Haan baba sach mein. Doctor ne aaj hi confirm kiya."
"Wow." She held Vishakha's shoulders and started to jump in circles, dragging her along.
"Arre arre mujhe girayegi kya." Vishakha giggled, equally happy.
After breakfast, When Sameer checked upon Naina, she was still sleeping.
"Mumma abhi tak kyon soyi hain?" Ayush tried to keep his voice low but it resonated in the room.
Deepika shushed him, "Bhabhi ko rest karne dete hain. Baad mein ayenge."
They were about to leave when Naina's voice rang in, "Main uth gayi. Aa jao."
Sameer was instantly beside her, "Tum theek ho?"
"Hmm. Tumne breakfast kiya?" She asked as he helped her to sit up.
As soon as she was up, Deepika leaned and wrapped her arms around her shoulders, "Bhabhiii, twins. Wow. This is the best news."
Ayush gave a perplexed look to all adults smiling widely, then climbed on the bed, "Mumma, aaj aapka happy birthday hai kya?"
Naina cupped his face and kissed on his head, "Nahi. Na mera na kisi aur ka."
"Toh itte saare balloons kyon lagaye neeche? Hum kya celebrate kar rahe hain?" He knew as much that there was definitely some occasion.
Naina smiled, "Tujhe bataya tha na mumma ek baby leke ayegi?"
He nodded vehemently.
"Ab ek nahi, main two babies leke aungi. Isliye balloons lagaye." She said in a soft voice.
"Two two?" Ayush raised two fingers.
Naina nodded.
He grinned, "Mujhe pata hai two two kyon leke aaoge."
She looked up at Sameer. He shrugged, unaware of what Ayush had in mind.
Deepika was the first to ask, "Tujhe sab pata hai toh bata kyon layenge."
Ayush crossed his legs, and pointed at himself, "Dekho, ek baby toh mere liye, kyonki ab main big hun toh mere paas baby hona chahiye."
Naina pressed her lips to not let the smile erupt.
He continued with the same conviction, "Aur ab chotu bhi thoda thoda big hone laga hai. Usne agar mera baby maanga toh hum dono fight karenge. Isliye aap pehle se hi dono ke liye ek ek baby leke aa rahe ho. Haina?"
Deepika clapped, "Waah waah. Mujhe pata hi nahi tha tu itna smart hai. Kya analysis kiya hai. Superb."
Naina and Sameer chortled too. Ayush was the one to accept the news in most calm manner, giving it a logical twist.
Pleased at the reactions, he simpered, "Dekha, maine bola tha na mujhe sab pata hota hai."
Naina pulled him in her arms, "Haan, mere baby ko sab kuch pata hai."
"Offo, abhi toh bataya main baby nahi hun ab. Baby toh woh honge jo aap hospital se laogi." He fidgeted.
Naina kissed his puffed up cheek, "Okay baba. Ab yeh bata tune kya khaya breakfast mein."
"Alu parantha." He beamed, "Aur lunch mein Ramdhari bhaiya mere liye noodles banayenge."
Naina raised her brows, "Noodles? Kyon? Aaj weekend toh nahi hai. Phir kis khushi mein party?"
He slapped his forehead, "Party aaj thodi hai buddhu mumma. Party toh Saturday ko hai. Aapko itna bhi nahi pata."
"Saturday ko?" Naina looked back at Deepika and Sameer.
"Arre bhabhi aap sach mein bhul gayi kya? Saturday ko chotu ka function hai... uski naming ceremony." Deepika reminded her.
Naina had actually forgotten all about the function. She had been in a pensive mood last few days, and the day before, when she felt a little lighter, the pain had thrown her out of gear.
Deepika sat beside her, "Aap tension mat lo bhabhi. Aap bas rest karo. Party ka saara kaam mummy ne planners ko de diya hai. Aur khana already order ho chuka hai."
Naina patted her hand, "Tension nahi le rahi. Mujhe pata hai mummy kisi bhi party ke liye best arrangements hi karengi. Main bas yeh soch rahi thi ki main bhool kaise gayi iske baare mein."
Deepika gave a mischievous look to Sameer, "Thodi der pehle bhai bhool gaye the ki meri bhi vacations hain ab aap... lagta hai dono ko same bimari lagi hai."
Sameer landed a light smack on her head, "Tu commerce padhke hi doctor ban gayi kya jo hamari bimariyan diagnose kar rahi hai?"
Naina frowned at him, "Usse kyon daant rahe ho? Galti toh hamari hi hai na."
Deepika laughed, "Don't worry bhabhi. Sameer bhai jitna marzi gussa kar lein sab pe, mujhe kabhi nahi daant te. Mere hisse ka bhi Rohan bhai ko mil jaata hai."
Sameer pinched her cheek lovingly, "Aur tu iska faayda uthati hai hamesha."
Ayush happily chipped in, "Papa mujhe bhi kabhi gussa nahi karte. Mere hisse ka bhi chachu ko hi dete honge."
They all laughed. After assuring Naina that she would take care of Ayush's holidays homework and make sure that he studies regularly, Deepika went away with Ayush in tow since they had planned a game of chess with nanu. While Naina went for her bath, Sameer sat down with his laptop. He had skipped office but he had to complete a few things from home, which needed urgent attention.
Coming days were comfortable for Naina as Vishakha made sure that she had nutritious but light food. One of the days, she managed to go to office as well. Sameer was relieved to see that the news of twins had managed to pull her out of the sadness which she often delved into earlier. She was mostly happy now.
Saturday started with a frenzy of activities in the house. Living room was cleared of furniture for the puja. Though Naina was feeling fine and energetic, no one let her take any responsibility, making her sit whenever she offered to help.
She held Sameer's hand when he was hastily walking towards the store room. He stopped, kneeling in front of her, his forehead marred with frown lines, "Kya hua? Tabiyat kharab ho rahi hai? Main upar leke chalun?"
"Nahi." She whined, "Theek hun bilkul. Bas bore ho rahi hun. Sameer, mujhe bhi kuch kaam batao na please."
Preeti answered before Sameer could say anything, "Sameer ko puchegi toh bolega 'Naina, meri jaan, tum bas mujhe pyar karo, aur koi kaam karne ki zarurat nahi hai'."
Naina could feel her cheeks heat up as she gave an angry look to Preeti.
Sameer rolled his eyes, trying to appear nonchalant about the warmth he felt on his face, "Preeti, thoda toh volume control karo. Wahan nanu aur panditji baithe hain."
"Achha achha ab dono tamatar mat bano." Preeti grinned, "Naina, tujhe kaam chahiye na. Tu apne iss chotu ko sambhal. Mujhe mummy ne saree pehenne ko bola hai. Uske liye time lagega yaar."
Naina gladly took the baby from her, her face cracking into a big smile as she cooed him. Sameer could see the tenderness that replaced restlessness instantly. Holding the baby close to her chest, she started to talk softly, rubbing her nose with his when he smiled. He could only imagine how Naina would have brought up Ayush... with utmost affection. But now he would see this nurturing and protective side of her with their babies too. The way Naina cared for chotu was deeply soothing... but because of her own pregnancy, she got very limited time to spend with their nephew.
Puja started an hour later, with Rohan and Preeti sitting opposite panditji. A few rituals later, chotu was put in Rohan's lap. Panditji put a small tilak on him, tied a black thread loosely on his chubby wrist and chanted a few mantras with his hand on baby's head before asking for the name they had decided for him.
"Arhaan." Preeti declared in a clear voice.
Panditji consulted his books, then smiled at Vishakha, "Bohot achha naam hai. Arhaan ka arth hai woh jo vijay haasil karta hai, apno ki har mushkil se raksha karta hai."
Sameer leaned towards Naina, whispering, "Hamari dono princess ki raksha karega."
She raised a brow, "Aur agar dono bete hue toh?"
"Unki bhi karega. Bada bhai jo hai. Lekin Naina..." He pleaded, "...please do nahi toh kam se kam ek doll toh de do."
She shrugged, "Ismein main kuch thodi kar sakti hun."
His lips brushed against her ear when he leaned some more, "Koi nahi, iss baar nahi dogi toh next time de dena."
Her eyes rounded into saucers as she turned to gape at him. With a smirk, he looked ahead.
After the ceremony, Bela came over to Naina, "Kaisi hai beta?"
"Main theek hun aunty." Naina replied warmly.
Bela took out a black thread from her bag, "Mujhe pata hai tum log inn baaton ko nahi maante par ek maa ka dil apne bachhon ke liye darta rehta hai. Naina, yeh nazar ka dhaga hai. Isse apne haath pe ya pair pe bandh ke rakhne se tu aur bachhe surakshit rahoge." She added earnestly, "Aur kuch nahi karna. Jaise puja ka dhaaga bandhte hain bas waise hi isse bandh lena. Please beta."
Naina took the thread from her, "Aunty, main zarur bandhungi. Mujhe yaad hai aapne Preeti ko bhi aisa hi dhaga diya tha."
Bela nodded, "Meri amrican beti waise toh koi baat nahi maanti lekin yeh usne bhi maan li thi. Beta, jab maa bante hain na, toh apne bachhe ke liye kuch bhi karne ko dil galat nahi samajhta."
Naina took a deep breath. She knew it so well. She had done so many things to keep Ayush safe and protected that she would have never done otherwise.
Preeti came over to them, holding the baby, "Mummy, aap Naina ko jo bhi sikha rahi ho double sikhana, kyonki usse twins ke liye karna hai."
Bela took the baby from her, "Aur usse do do naam bhi sochne padenge."
Naina lovingly gazed at chotu, "Mujhe toh Preeti ka diya hua naam bohot achha laga. Mere bachhon ka naam rakhne ki responsibility bhi isse hi de dungi."
Preeti chuckled, "Maine Ayush se inspire hoke naam rakha."
When Naina looked at her in wonder, she added, "Main chahti thi dono brothers ka naam similar ho... Ayush, Arhaan dono ke naam A se hain. Sunke hi lagta hai bhai hain."
Bela rocked little Arhaan lightly as he started to close his eyes, "Naam mein uske jaisa hai ab aadton mein bhi apne bhaiya jaisa banna. Theek hai Arhaan?"
With his eyes shut, Arhaan smiled slightly, bringing a contented smile on the faces of all three.
Evening party was for all relatives and friends, who gathered to congratulate Rohan and Preeti and gushed over baby Arhaan. Though he mostly slept through it, Arhaan was the center of attention throughout the evening. Everyone who came was loving towards the baby, admiring him and showering blessings.
At night, in their room, Sameer was surprised to find Naina on the terrace when he came out after changing.
"Naina, tumhe ab rest karna chahiye. Yahan kya kar rahi ho?" He worriedly looked all over to see if she was again upset or sad.
To his relief, she smiled, "Aaj sabne kitna pyar diya na Arhaan ko. Ek baby kaise sabke chehre pe khushi le aata hai."
He smiled too, "Yeh khushi sabse pehle Ayush ke saath aayi hamare ghar mein, ab Arhaan ki wajah se aur thode dinon mein hamare babies phir se sabko aisi khushi denge."
Naina took a deep breath, "Ayush ko yahan jitna pyar mila Sameer utna tab nahi mil paaya jab woh chota tha."
He wrapped an arm around her shoulder, "Naina, uss waqt haalaat alag the. Tumhari khud ki life mein itna kuch ho gaya tha phir bhi tumne Ayush ko nayi zindagi di, ghar diya, family di... aur pyara sa naam diya. Tumne bhi uske liye function kiya tha?"
She sadly shook her head, "Ayush ke liye koi function nahi hua. Mandir se laane ke baad jab humne police complaint ki toh unke paas koi nahi tha jo itne chote baby ko dekh sake. Mumma ne bola ki woh allow karein toh hum bachhe ka khyal rakh lenge jab tak koi usse lene nahi aata. Hum teeno ko darr tha ki itna chota bachha kaise survive kar payega agar uski proper care nahi hui toh. Ek mahina aisi hi uncertainty mein woh hamare saath raha. Pata nahi kab usse baby se Ayush ka naam de diya. Shayad dil hi dil mein uske liye pray karte karte yeh naam dimag mein aaya kyonki hum chahte the usse ek achhi aur lambi zindagi mile."
Sameer stroked her hair, "Tumhari aur mumma papa ki wajah se hi Ayush ko woh sab mila jo woh deserve karta hai."
Naina wistfully placed a hand on her belly, "Sameer, iss baar hamare babies ka bhi naamkaran hoga, unko bhi paida hote hi woh sab pampering aur attention milega jo ek new born ko milna chahiye." She smiled at him with misty eyes, "Iss baar koi majboori nahi hogi."
He put his hand over hers, "Hamari aur hamare teeno bachhon ki life mein kabhi koi majboori nahi hogi Naina. I promise."
She rested her head on his shoulder, "I know. Ab tum ho na... ab hamare bachhon ko sab kuch haasil hoga."
He drew her closer, revelling in the pleasant feeling of being able to see all phases of his little ones.
