Kitna pyara naam hai tera
Title needs no introduction ❤
When they met the twins, Sanjay and Raghav could not get enough of the chubby little wonders.
After congratulating Naina, Sanjay lifted the boy, "Bhai yeh toh tujhpe jayega. Dekh lena. Abhi se hero jaisa dikh raha hai... par bholuram hero." He then cooed to the baby, "Main tumhara bada chachu."
Raghav frowned, "Bada kaise ho gaya tu? Hum teeno toh ek hi age ke hain."
Sanjay squared his shoulders with pride, "Par shaadi toh meri hui na sabse pehle. Aur papa bhi main hi bana."
Raghav thoughtfully scratched his chin, "Uss hisaab se toh tu chachu nahi tau hai."
Sameer laughed, "Bilkul sahi. Main inko bolunga Sanjay ko tauji bulao."
"Chup karo dono." Sanjay fumed, "Hamare shows mein ghar ka villain hota hai usse tau banate hain. Khabardaar mujhe kisi ne yeh naam diya. Main chachu hi theek hun."
Sameer took his daughter in his arms, taking her to Raghav, "Baby, aapko Raghav chachu ke paas jaana hai?"
Raghav nervously looked at her, "Sameer yaar main kaise... yeh bohot choti hai. Itne chote bachhon ko maine kabhi uthaya nahi."
Naina guided him how to fold the arms to keep the baby comfortable. Gingerly, but with great care, he held the baby and looked at her with adoration, a soft smile on his face, "Kitni pyari hai. Bilkul gudiya jaisi."
Sanjay went closer, holding the boy next to his sister, "Dono ko dekh ke lag raha hai chote Naina aur Sameer hain." He smiled at Naina, "Bhabhi, aapko bachpan mein dekha toh nahi par aap pakka aisi hi rahi hongi."
Sameer put an arm around her shoulders, drawing her to himself possessively.
When it was time for babies to be given bath, Sanjay and Raghav left the room, along with Sameer. Vishakha helped Naina, dressing the little ones for the function.
Before leaving, Vishakha directed her, "Tum bhi jaldi se taiyar ho jao. Waise guests toh late hi ayenge par panditji ne kaha hai puja ka muhurat gyarah baje ka hai."
Naina was putting the washed clothes of babies in the cupboard when familiar arms snaked around her waist.
"Thank you jaan." Sameer nuzzled in her hair, kissing at the base of her neck.
Hunching her shoulder, she asked plainly, "Kisliye?"
"Mujhe itna achha surprise dene ke liye." He whispered against her ear.
She turned in his arms, feigning innocence, "Surprise? Kaisa surprise?"
He pinched her nose, "Mujhe Raghav ne bata diya, kaise tumne dono ko phone karke bola ki chahe jaise bhi ho unhe aana hi padega."
When she smiled slightly, he flicked his brows, "Mujhe nahi pata tha meri biwi ko blackmail karna bhi aata hai."
"Haww." Her eyes rounded, "Maine blackmail kahan kiya? Maine toh bas request ki thi."
"Achaa." It was evident from his lopsided smile that both Sanjay and Raghav had spoken to him about their conversation with her.
When she had called up Sanjay, he was in a shoot, so she had left a message to call back, but only on her number, saying that it was very urgent. When he called after two hours, she told him her plan. Sanjay was tied up in a hectic shoot schedule, and the unit had a travel requirement coming up.
But Naina was not ready to listen, "Kisi ko koi emergency ho toh bhi jaate hain na. Aap bas ek din ke liye aa jaiye. Main rukne ko nahi kahungi. Aap jaante hain Sameer aap dono ke sabse close hain, agar iss function mein mere bachhon ke chachu nahi aaye toh Sameer ko hi nahi, mujhe aur bachhon ko bhi bohot dukh hoga."
Her argument had left Sanjay speechless. He arranged for double shifts for two days and booked a flight for Delhi, promising the unit that he would join them on outstation location.
It wasn't a professional commitment for Raghav that made him hesitate but a wedding. A close cousin was getting married the day before.
Naina was not ready to listen to his argument, "Shaadi raat ko ho jayegi. Aap subah ki flight le lo. Agar aapki khud ki shaadi hoti toh main maan leti ki nahi aa sakte par ab koi excuse nahi sunungi."
Raghav had sighed, "Meri shaadi hoti toh aap sab bhi mere saath hi hote bhabhi."
She had smiled, knowing how touchy he was about the subject of marriage as he was the only one left in their larger friends circle. And now it seemed that amongst his cousins too.
"Raghav, aap dekhna aane wala naya saal aapke liye lucky hone wala hai. Dono babies ne mujhe bataya ki unke chachu ko chachi pakka milne wali hai." She had motivated him.
Raghav had laughed, but did not deny anymore. And as promised, he was here in the morning. She was grateful to both of them for taking so much effort. As expected, their presence had filled Sameer with a different kind of exuberance.
"Naina." Sameer clutched her hands, "Sanjay aur Raghav sirf mere dost nahi, mere liye family hain, mere bhai hain. School college ke dinon mein Rohan se apne dil ki baatein bhale hi na share karun par inn dono se kabhi kuch nahi chupa paata tha. Roz mile bina reh nahi sakte the hum log. Lekin jab sab alag alag cities mein settle ho gaye, toh woh har kaam mein saath rehna, woh masti, woh ghoomna phirna... sab peeche reh gaya. Hum log jab bhi baat karte hain, milne ka plan banate hain par har baar ek na ek ki koi commitment hoti hai jiski wajah se milna reh jaata hai. Aaj dono se ek saath milke realise kiya main unhe kitna miss kar raha tha."
The shine in his eyes, the wide smile, the happiness glowing on his face was what Naina wanted to see.
"Bas yehi khushi dekhne ke liye kiya. Ab chahe isse blackmail samjho ya tumhare liye mera pyar." She locked her arms behind his neck.
He tilted his head, the voice changing from soft to raspy, "I'll go with pyar. Uske liye ek pyar wala thank you toh banta hai."
Before he could feel her soft lips, a knock at the door made him jump apart.
"Naina." Preeti's voice reverberated in the room but she did not enter, "Babies ko ready karne mein help chahiye? Bas aadha ghanta baaki hai."
Pushing Sameer behind the cover of open wardrobe, Naina walked out, "Inko ready kar diya Preeti. Bas main nahane jaa rahi thi."
Unable to see Sameer, Preeti winked, "Usme help chahiye toh Sameer ko bheju?"
Naina coloured deeply, more so because Sameer was within earshot. Picking a cushion from the couch she aimed at Preeti, who retreated immediately, hopping down the stairs.
The glint in Sameer's eyes was hint enough that he had heard it. Taking a step towards her, he winked too, "Idea bura nahi hai."
"Shut up." She huffed, her cheeks blazing, "Tumhare do do bachhon ki puja hai aaj aur tum aisi baatein kar rahe ho."
"Aisi baatein?" He gave her an innocent look, "Main toh keh raha tha Sanjay aur Raghav ko bulane ka tumhara idea bura nahi hai."
When she gaped at him, frozen at her place, he narrowed his eyes, "Naina, tumhe kya laga?"
If she was red before, she now felt her ears burning. He had probably not heard Preeti.
"Main... main nahane jaa rahi hun tum babies ke paas baitho." Muttering in a low voice, she quickly rushed past him towards the washroom.
Sameer smiled once the door was banged shut. Preeti's words weren't indistinct. But Naina's expression was priceless when he changed his tone.
"Tum ab tak kitni bholi ho Naina." Looking back at the closed door, he mumbled fondly, "And I love this side of yours too."
Twenty minutes later, when they went down with babies, Ramdhari came running, "Bhabhi aap sab pehle hamare saath kitchen mein chaliye."
"Kyon?" Sameer gave him a suspicious look, "Khana humse banwayega kya?"
"Mehmano se dushmani thodi hai hamari." Ramdhari muttered under his breath, without even looking at him and ushered them to the kitchen. Naina stifled a smile, thankful that yet again, Sameer had not heard.
"Mumma. Dekho main ready ho gaya. Papa main smart lag raha hun na." Ayush, who was already in the kitchen, beamed at them.
Sameer flicked his brows, "Wow, tumne toh babies se apne kapde match kar liye."
Naina had dressed the little ones in combination of yellow and white. She and Sameer had donned off white traditional outfits. For Ayush too, she had asked Vishakha to get a yellow kurta which he could match with his white churidar. All her children looked like the sunshine they had brought in her life.
Taking something in his fist, Ramdhari started to move it around them in circles, "Aap paanchon ki nazar utaar lein phir bahar jaana. Itne saare mehmaan hain, kya pata kiski nazar kaisi ho."
After five minutes, they were back in the hall. Babies were put on a small bed that had been placed specifically for them. Everyone gushed over them, commenting on the likeness with parents. Ayush hovered around the babies, talking with conviction whenever someone asked anything. If the guests were doting on the twins, they loved Ayush for his chirpiness and mannerism.
Puja started a little later, with parents sitting adjacent to panditji, babies in their laps. After chanting for a few minutes, panditji made them do some rituals, then looked at Vishakha, "Bachhon ke naam bataiye."
She waved at Naina and Sameer, "Batao bhai. Hum log bohot din se wait kar rahe hain."
They looked at each other, a calm smile spreading on their faces.
Sameer held his daughter close to his chest, and announced, "Meri beti ka naam hai... Anaisa."
"Aur hamare bete ka... Ansh." Naina added quickly before her voice could drown in the cheerful appreciation.
Panditji noted down the names, and completed the remaining rituals to bless the babies.
After the puja was over, Naina and Sameer were surrounded by guests, who could not stop complimenting them on the cuteness of babies and their beautiful names.
Ayush was on top of the world, "Dekha Deepu bua mere brother sister ka name mere jaisa hai, Preeti maasi ne bhi Aru ka name A se rakha aur mumma ne bhi. Pata hai kyon... kyonki jinka name A se hota hai woh best hote hain."
Deepika indulgently pulled his cheek, "Haan, tere jaise banenge yeh teeno bhi."
Nanu exclaimed, "Banne bhi chahiye. Hamara Ayush hi sabko training dega."
Vivek and Vishakha too praised Naina and Sameer for the names, saying that this new trend of including parent's initials in their children's names was a nice thing.
When the entire family was around them, Naina declared, "Iss naam ke liye Deepu ko compliment dijiye aap log. Usne rakha hai apni niece ka naam."
Not just Sameer, but all were surprised. Deepika smiled sheepishly, "Maine toh bas suggest kiya tha. Bhabhi ne kaha achha hai."
In their room later, Sameer asked Naina, "Tumne Deepu se kab baat ki? Jab Deepu ne mention kiya tha toh Preeti keh rahi thi tumne names decide kar rakhe hain. Isliye maine bhi tumse iss baare mein kuch nahi kaha."
"Mujhe Preeti se pata chala. Usne toh anjaane mein saari conversation suna di, par mujhe pata chal gaya ki Deepu ne koi naam socha hai aur woh ab mujhe nahi batayegi. Isliye uss din jab dopaher ko woh bachhon ke saath khelne aayi toh maine baaton baaton mein sba jaan liya. Aur sach mein mujhe naam achha laga." She started to narrate the sequence when Sameer asked.
Flashback
Deepika walked into the room a little before lunch time, "Hello bhabhi. Kya kar rahe hain hamare chutku chutki."
Naina smiled widely, "Baatein karne ke mood mein hain. Aajkal dono ko zyada attention chahiye. Ek se baat karti hu toh doosra tez tez pair maarne lagta hai."
Folding her knees under her, Deepika jumped on the other side of the bed, calling out to the little ones. Hearing her voice, they together started to look here and there before their gaze settled on their buaa and they smiled.
"Bhabhi, inki smile kitni cute hai." Deepika squealed.
Naina watched adoringly as she started to talk to both of them, making faces, tickling their cheeks, waving her head... all her gestures were making the babies react more actively. Deepika had always been very affectionate, first towards Ayush, then Arhaan and now she was forever keen to help Naina in taking care of the babies, be it putting them to sleep, giving them a bath, changing their diapers or simply playing with them.
After a while, Naina chuckled as the baby girl held onto Deepika's finger, "Isse bhi apni buaa ke saath khelna pasand hai."
Deepika grinned, "Dekhna bhabhi, jab yeh badi hogi toh main hi apni chutki ki favourite houngi."
"Lekin tab yeh chutki nahi rahegi." Naina
"Of course." Deepika looked at her, "Aapne names decide kar liye na? Mummy ne kaha hai next week inki naming ceremony karenge."
Leaning back against the headboard, Naina pursed her lips, "Pehle jo naam soche the woh reject kar diye." She took her son's fisted hand in hers, smiling, "Iske liye ho gaya par chutki ka samajh nahi aa raha. Main apne dono bachhon ko aise naam dena chahti hun jisme hum teeno ka... Sameer, mera aur Ayush ka... kuch na kuch hissa ho. Aur dono ke naam A se start ho, jaise Ayush aur Arhaan."
"Haina." Deepika beamed, "Isliye maine girl wala naam decide kiya tha..." She stopped abruptly, her smile fading.
"Achha. Batao toh kya decide kiya." Naina asked, surprised.
Deepika shook her head, embarassed, "Nahi bhabhi, inke names aapko aur bhai ko rakhne chahiye. Main toh aise hi..."
"Deepu." Naina interrupted her, "Bolo toh tumne kya socha hai. Tum bhi buaa ho dono ki, naam tum bhi rakh sakti ho."
Deepika uttered sadly, "Par bhabhi woh A se start nahi hota."
"Tum batao toh sahi." Naina was now eager.
"Naisa." Deepika was cheerful again, "Aapka aur bhai ka naam mila ke."
"Naisa." Naina rolled the name on her tongue. It felt good.
Deepika quickly added, "Iska meaning hai love ya affection."
Naina straightened, excited, "Bohot pyara naam hai Deepu." She picked her phone and began to check something, then gave a contented smile, "Hum isme A add kar dete hain... Anaisa, which means special."
Deepika picked up the little girl, grinning at her, "Bas thode din baad se hum sab tujhe Anaisa bulayenge. Pasand aaya apna naam?"
The baby gave her a smile, wriggling her pudgy hands.
Naina took her son in her arms, "Aur aapko Ansh."
Deepika's enthusiasm heightened, "Wow, this is perfect."
"Thank you." Naina smiled, "Meri tension khatam karne ke liye. Lekin ab yeh hum dono ka secret rahega. Hum kisi ko nahi batayenge, puja wale din tak. Okay?"
Deepika bobbed her head, "Promise. Hamare Ansh aur Anaisa abhi ek aur week sabke liye chutku chutki hi rahenge." The morning gloominess had turned into exultation... her bhabhi had chosen the name she had decided.
Flashback ends
Sameer was amazed, both at his sister and wife. Deepika had thought of such a beautiful name, and Naina, after knowing from Preeti, had not just urged her to share it, and accepted it too.
