Tale I; Kronos and Rhea - Chapter VII
Time passed, Master Chronos played his games and the Moirai spun their threads, but all of these happened above, on Earth, in the Underworld, things were a little different. It was hard for Rhea to tell day from night when Hecate's gemstones were shining bright above them, not seeming to care about Helios or Selene. The only time the Underworld Deities actually cared about the measurement of time was when it came about the meals and Rhea counted six of them through her stay in the land of darkness — which meant that she had been gone from Othrys for about fifty days, fifty days.
Fifty days in which Kronos ruled as he pleased, fifty days in which Themis was probably alone and worried for her sister, fifty days in which Thanatos had ate only twice, fifty days in which Charon's ship, Aiónios, finally sailed, fifty days in which Rhea had lived like a mere nobody.
But she knew that she will soon have to return to Kronos and complete the prophecy, Hecate had already warned her that Great Chaos was growing impatient. So now everybody was quietly preparing for the day the Queen will leave them, a silent promise to help complete the prophecy linking all of them together.
And the day finally came. She had been saluted with polite words by every Deity of the Underworld, her hand had been kissed by Thanatos and Hypnos, her faith had been blessed by the river Gods and her laugh had been shared with the three Erinyes, it was now Hecate's job to lead her above the ground.
They walked together the path of black soil, crossing the Styx with Charon, while discussion and laughing about everything that happened during Rhea's days in the land of the Gods.
When they arrived at the doors of Gaia, where the Earth would open wide, her dark core clashing with the bright sky above, it was time for the last goodbye to be said.
“Just do what we had planned and everything will be fine” Hecate reassured, handing her the basket she had been carrying all the way through long journey.
“I'll do. See you after the birth”
“Remember me up there and don’t waste time there, come home as soon as it’s done”
Rhea only smiled and kissed her cheek.
“Of course I will. Now let the Heavens fall”
— rose
