Tale I; Kronos and Rhea - Chapter III

Time passed, Rhea began to move on and Kronos had once again his blithe wife, even though he knew that a part of her would never forget what happened. Themis decided to remain on Mount Othrys, to both keep on eye on Kronos and accompany Rhea, as the King of the Titans didn't seem to mind, he knew very well that Themis could expose him in any moment if he'd make only one wrong step.

Until one day when the Titaness of Law burst into Kronos' council room, where the King and the son of Iapetus - Atlas, she remembered - were both leaned down over maps and scrolls. Kronos turned to her, but didn't ask anything, while the younger Titan didn't even acknowledge her presence.

"You may want to come with me"

Themis finally said, her voice as formal and sharp as always. Surprisingly, Kronos just let out a sight, murmuring something in Atlas' ear. As the son of Iapetus reluctantly nodded, Kronos rose up, crossing the room to reach his sister, who just turned around, exiting the room.

Their way through the black marble corridors is silent, neither of them having anything to say. Even though they basically live in the same palace, the two hardly ever talk, ending up having just small chats during meals for Rhea's sake.

Finally, the blue haired Titaness stopped just before the black and gold door of their room. She just tilted her head slightly to it with a sharp look, so Kronos reluctantly opened the door.

As he entered the room, he got drunken in the sweet smell of flowers, his lungs filled with their intoxicating parfume. Carnations. Pink ones, as Rhea liked them. Speaking of the Queen of the Titans, she was sitting on a chaise lounge, petting one of her white lions. Her long, curly hair was pulled back, braided with gold. She was wearing a pale teal dress, contracting her dark skin.

Kronos approached her, making her suddenly turn to meet his eyes, a soft smile planted on her delicate face. She weaved to him to approach and sent the lion away to make space for her husband.

"My beloved one, I have beautiful news"

Rhea announced, taking Kronos' calloused hands into hers. He just nodded, wanting her to continue.

"I'm going to have a child of yours once again"

The Titaness says beaming, all bright and smiling. Kronos saw terror before his eyes once again and in that moment he knew, he had to do it, he had to break Rhea's heart for the second time, but all of it would worth it, when Gaia will realize that the Titans shall never be replaced.

And so it went four more times with Kronos lovingly embracing Rhea through her pregnancies, just to break her heart nine months later and Themis, who everytime kept threatening him into spilling it out - also finding more and more proofs everytime, collecting nearly all the pieces of the puzzle - but who never actually said a word, because her mind was indeed the law and order itself, but she also had a heart, who didn't belong to a lot of people, but Rhea had it fully.

They had Demeter, mother earth - name as dangerous as the girl herself - and she was dark skinned, the perfect mixture between the couple's pigments, with green eyes, but not sea like as her mother's, a shade that would be called olive when the grey eyed one will finally create them, and wild, brown, almost black hair. As Hestia, she look similar to the Titans, but she was smaller and her eyes sparkled with knowledge and power that Kronos couldn't even thing about. The girl, though only a baby, sent shivers through Kronos' bones as he feared her as much as her name, which was chosen by Themis. The only good thing about her birth was that the King of Titans got to see Hyperion's daughters again, both Eos and Selene fully grown this time.

They had Hera, female master - name that along Demeter's started to make "Hestia" look like a light breeze - and she was a female copy of her father with her clear, pale skin, wild, red hair, as Hestia used to have, and her terrifying, brown eyes, mirroring Kronos' ones. They gave to Selene the honor to name the child, with Rhea promising to Eos that she'll name the next on, thought that terrified Kronos even more. But when the sisters showed up this time, he couldn't help but look at the roundness of Eos' belly, the King recalled hearing something about her and Astraios - son of Krius - though she was still contrasting Selene, as the Moon Titaness, although not a virgin appeared more innocent than her sister.

They had Hades, the unseen one - the point where Kronos stopped questioning the obscure meanings of their names - their first boy with pale skin, like Kronos and Hera had before him but his was spotted here and there with black moles, his hair, curly and black, exactly like Rhea's and his eyes of a pitch black that Kronos' weren't, but still, as, if not more horrible than the Titan's. As promised, the name was chosen by Eos, who this time had a dark skinned, bronze hair girl beaming around her, Astraea, starry night, and as always, the brave and beautiful Selene, her silver glow growing more and more alluring everytime she show up on Mount Othrys.

They had Poseidon, the earth-shaker - name that Kronos takes credit for - their second born son resemble too the second born daughter, both of them having mixed skin from their parents, although his was rather warmer rather than Demeter's colder tone, he had the wild, black hair and the beautiful, sea green eyes of Rhea, eyes that made Kronos hesitant, the hesitation that made everything crumple to dirt.

After Kronos took honor of naming their son and after the leaving of Eos and Selene - who, as everytime kissed his calloused hands with a sweet smile - the Titan left mother and child alone as always, having to return later to end the whole charade. But when he came back, the warm of his son's eyes, the resemblance with his beloved Rhea rose hesitation through him, which's battle he actually won and swallowed the child alive, but which costed him the pained scream that he had heard afterwards.

Rhea was laying in the bed, her expression horrified with tears running down her delicate face. Realizing that she had seen all of it, he tried to approach, but she started shouting hysterically, throwing objects at him, Kronos only caught only fragment - "How could you?!" "All this time?!" and the firm accusation that made the Lord of Time disappear out of the room in a second "You never knew love, did you?"
