Disclaimer: Though this may be shocking, I am not Japanese(gasp!), A troll-I mean Devil- I mean New York Times Best selling Author, or a British woman. This means, sadly, that I am not Hiromi Arakawa, Rick Riordan, or J.K.Rowling, which also implies that I don't own any of the main/side characters except for Augustine. Sorry to disappoint.
A/N: THIS HAPPENS BEFORE THE TRIALS OF APOLLO SO YEAH. I'M IGNORING SOME THINGS BECAUSE THIS WOULDN'T WORK WITH MY STORY. THANK YOU.

Justine, daughter of Ceres and legionnaire of the 4th cohort, and Paul, grandson of Baccus and Apollo as well as a legionnaire of the 3rd cohort, were on a date.
The sounds of New Rome filled the air as they held hands, strolling through the main forum. They crossed through the city limits and walked towards the Little Tiber.
They were planning to go out into the mortal world in order to attend the carnival held by the University of Berkeley. As long as they had weapons and each other, they were sure that no monster would trouble them.
Paul crossed the river with little struggle. His pants and shoes were wet, but there was a drying station by the tunnel. He'd be fine. It was Justine he was worried about. As a daughter of Ceres, water was not her favorite. She daintily placed her foot in the water before fully entering.
Paul thought she'd make it this time, but he was wrong.
Justine slipped on a river rock and fell into the Little Tiber. She yelled at him from the water, struggling to her feet. "Paul! I need your help! I can't cross this river without you!"
She started to get up as Paul entered the river to help her cross. She fell back down, this time tumbling downstream. Her head submerged. Paul ran to her as fast as he could, despite the danger of falling himself. Finally, she broke the surface. Paul grabbed her by the arm and held her tightly. They were about to start exiting the river when Justine spotted a shiny object amongst the rocks.
She reached down and grabbed it. The newfound object was a silver mirror with an intricate handle and sapphires set in 90 degree angles.
"Justine! You'll get a cold if you stay in there much longer! Let's just leave it! It can't be that important if someone just tossed it into the Little Tiber!" Paul scolded as he stood at her side.
Justine rolled her eyes. Would it be that much more work to bring a mirror out with her? Paul was just being a bit paranoid, which Justine did suppose was sweet of him to worry so much about her. She tucked the mirror in her back pocket as they headed back to New Rome. Their date needed to be postponed.
They were both too wet to dry off completely and Justine was aching all over.
They went inside the camp and though Justine was hurt from tumbling down the river, she decided giving the mirror to the praetors was a better decision than going straight to the infirmary.
A random object like that just lying in a river? That would be plausible. But a mirror in the Little Tiber? One without a single scratch or grime on it? That was no coincidence. Paul was complaining about her petty-ness the entire way there before he broke off at the entrance to the office. He said that he had armor to polish or something.
She went to the most available praetor at the time, who was Ella Refini. (Ella and Finn Kalwain were the current praetors at the time).
Ella looked at the mirror with interest before looking at one of the campers on guard.
"You, Blake White," She instructed, her voice as firm and unwavering as always. "Please put this mirror in the weapon shed. Put it in a locked box. I'll have our augur look at it later."
Blake ran off with the mirror as Ella dismissed Justine.
Ella quickly forgot about the mirror as time passed and eventually, even Justine forgot. It was left in the shed, in a locked box, forgotten.
The mirror wouldn't be seen for over a decade.

Frank Zhang(3rd Person POV)
Frank needed more arrows. But, because Berkeley was under a major heat wave, Frank really didn't want to go to the armory. He instead stared tiredly at a bowl of blue jelly beans on his and Reyna's desk.
Percy really needed to stop turning things blue. It was getting tiring.
Ever since he'd gotten one of Yang Lu's 4 magic handkerchiefs via bribery, he'd been turning anything he could wrap with the handkerchiefs blue, from Imperial Gold weapons to Don's horn. Thankfully, he was stopped by Annabeth when he turned the end of her ponytail blue, makings her hair a blonde-blue ombre. She didn't know how to get it out yet, but she was trying. As for Percy, Frank felt he wouldn't be using that trick anytime soon.
He snapped out of his daze and looked at the large stack of papers and scrolls on his and Reyna's desk. Then he looked at Reyna.
She sat in her praetor's chair, her head slumped over, sleeping. The stress of preparing for the Feast of Fortuna had been exhausting. She really needed this nap.
He then looked again at the paperwork on his side of the desk.
He could bear the heat today.
He morphed into a mouse and scurried through a knothole system he'd created for his own personal use. In a matter of seconds, Frank was outside of the office, duty free.
He morphed back into a human as he ran towards the armory.
As he ran, he noticed very few people lined the usually active streets. The heat was horrible, for it was both humid and in the high 90's.(A/N:Fahrenheit, not Celsius. Celsius is about 36-38 degrees)
When Frank reached the armory, he was breathing hard. He slid open the barn-style doors of the armory and went inside. To his joy, the air was cool and musty.
Frank wandered around the armory, picking up random arrows like Easter eggs. It was about 15 mins into his excursion when he found something he'd always wanted. High up, perched on a shelf with its tip barely poking out, was an arrow. But this was no ordinary arrow.
It was an arrow used by the Hunter of Artemis. All of them were tipped with Sacred Silver, which could only come from the silver horns of Artemis's stag, one made completely out of stars.
He reached for it when he saw something else. A wooden box, locked by a padlock, sat on top of the arrow. He didn't know what was inside the box, but he got a tickling sensation as he got closer to it.
He decided he'd take both with him. As he grabbed the arrow, the box slipped and fell.
CRASH!
The sound of the padlock hitting the floor wasn't pleasant. But, to Frank's surprise, the lock had broken off. He grabbed the arrow, the box, and the quiver of the other arrows he'd collected and ran out of the armory, heading straight for the office. He needed to show the others the box.

"I say we open it."
"LEt'S lIGht ThIs pUPpY!"
"Who gave Leo caffeine?"
"We should consult Rachel or Augustine."
"Nico, stop moving! Your shoulder's bruises haven't healed yet!"
"I thought decaf coffee didn't have caffeine..."
"It's a lie Hazel."
"Never give the dead McDonald's coffee. Even they can taste the quality. Trust me on this."
"Aren't we supposed to be talking about the box?"
10 demigods and 1 titaness sat in a tent. Frank, Calypso, Will, Nico, Piper, Jason, Reyna, Leo, Hazel, Percy, and Annabeth all sat on plush purple pillows in a circle around the box. But, instead of being good role models like they should've been, they were all arguing.
Since the Feast had been only 2 days ago, none of the campers from CHB had left yet, except for Rachel, who had to stay at camp in case of a prophecy. That had made getting everyone together easier. Getting them to cooperate? Not so much. Reyna cleared her throat.
"I believe we should consult either Rachel or Augustine for the box. It's too mysterious. No lars even know about it. Or citizens. Believe me, I asked."
"I, for once, agree with Percy," Jason said. "We should open it up, see what it is, then consult the others about this."
"I nEeD MOre cAfFEInE! I'm gOnna craassshhhh......" Leo's sentence trailed off into nonsensical muttering as he fell asleep, with a tiny flame in his hair acting like a candle. Percy put it out.
"How about this?" Annabeth offered. "4 of us go to retrieve Rachel and Augustine. The rest will open the box. We then decide if it is a real threat or not."
They all nodded. It sounded like a good idea.
"I'll go to retrieve Rachel." Nico groused. "I can shadow travel over to Camp Half Blood and grab her."
"OH HADES NO!" Will yelled. They all sighed, knowing what was going to happen. "You are not ready to even try Shadow-Travel yet! The bruises on your shoulder haven't even remotely healed! Why in Hades do you think that this will end well?!"
Nico stood up calmly. "Well, if you hadn't tackled me last time I was getting ready to shadow travel, I wouldn't have gotten those bruises if it weren't for you, mom. I'm going."
And with that, Nico walked out of the tent. Will ran after him seconds later, but by his frustrated yelling the teens could tell Nico had won.
Hazel pulled Frank up to a standing position.
"We'll go with Will to get Auggie. Don't worry about him or us. We'll be back in a jiffy." Hazel assured the group.
She pulled Frank out of the tent. It seemed like there was something she wanted to tell Frank in private.
The couple squinted as they stepped out of the tent. The heat had slightly lessened, but the brightness of the sun hadn't. Hazel walked up to Will.
"It's ok. He'll warm up to you eventually." Hazel commented, letting her arm wrap around his shoulder.
Will just looked even more downcast. "But it's already been a year. I know he likes me back, but I wish that he'd let me get closer to him."
"My brother just isn't really a people person." Hazel laughed. "It's actually amazing he lets you touch him at all. Just give Nico some space. Other than that, you're doing great. All relationships need work. Trust me."
"Since when did you become a daughter of Aphrodite?" Will half-joked.
Hazel laughed and grabbed Will by the hand. She ran up to Frank, grabbed his hand as well, and led the 3 of them to Temple Hill.
When Frank, Hazel, and Will reached the temple of Jupiter Optimus Maximus, they were soaked in sweat. It had only been a 20 minute run.
They entered the temple door and were greeted by cool dry air. The temple was enchanted to be at what ever felt best to the worshipers.
At the altar stood a tall girl around Hazel's age, wearing a striped purple tee, jeans, and black ballet flats. Her dark auburn hair was cut in a long upwards layered bob, with her hair parted to the right.
When she turned, Frank saw her smiling face. Her eyes were green, but with a splash of light blue that made the eyes look gray like they did today. She had a splash of freckles across the bridge of her nose and full lips. Her head was a diamond shape, and she had a horizontal scar under her bottom lip about 1 cm long from the first time she tried gutting a teddy bear. Her name was Augustine, and she was Octavian's second cousin as well as a daughter of Apollo.
"Hey Hazel, Praetor Frank, and guy I don't know. How are you? Do you need a prediction on a relationship or something?" She causally walked over to the group before giving Hazel a surprise hug. She then leaped off just as fast and started pacing again. Hazel didn't even look fazed.
Will looked like he wanted to say yes(along with some other things), but Hazel cut him off before he could speak. "We'd like you to ask the gods about a box Frank found in the armory."
Augustine laughed. "Sure. Just describe it the best you can to me. If you have anything from it, that'd be even better."
Frank dug in his pocket and brought out the broken padlock. "Here."
She took it and placed it on the altar. She then cut open a bell pepper and examined the seeds. Since stuffed animals had been Octavian's thing, Auggie had decided to take the vegetarian route, if you will.
She looked up from the seeds, her face showing horror. The room felt like it dropped ten degrees. "It's an omen. An omen for the beginning of the Incomplete Prophecy."
The demigods were confused.
"Excuse me," Will questioned, "What's the Incomplete Prophecy?"
Augustine took a shaky breath before she closed her eyes and repeated it out of memory:
"When the sky begins to fall
21 heroes, 13 demigods, 2 titanesses and 6 wizards, shall answer an enemy's call
Breaking age and time
They shall try to stop a crime
3 dead shall rise
But in the exchange of-"
Frank realized why its name was the Incomplete Prophecy.
"So, why does no one know the end?" Hazel questioned, "It just doesn't make sense."
"No one knows. The beginning is from a page in the Sibylline books. We found it around 1000 CE, just over 500 years after the fall of the Western Roman Empire. The bottom of the scroll was never found." Augustine explained.
"Does this mean that opening that box is the beginning of the Incomplete Prophecy?" Will asked.
"Yes. I'm sure of it." Auggie answered.
Hazel and Frank looked at each other in horror. The others were opening the box as of this moment if they hadn't already.
"We need to stop them." Frank said, "We need to go now!"
And with that, they ran back to the tent with Augustine, not even caring about the heat, carrying worried expressions. If they didn't stop them, more lives would definitely be lost.
