Chapter Four: Cub No-
~Day Two~
Cleo stood at the bow of the ship (HEADIN' FOR A NEW LAND-), and almost fell off when she heard Joe sharply call her.
"ZombieCleo!"
"GAH! Wha- Joe? You're not trying to drown me, are you?"
Joe shook his head. "Naw, I just wanna chat."
The redhead zombie was suspicious, but the suspicion washed away quickly while the two talked. Despite being on the Siren team, Joe was still pretty chill. He didn't even hum when it was quiet.
"I heard Marra talking to X about finishing up what she called 'Truce Island'. That way everyone can hang out there and take a break."
"I heard Grian talk with Scar and Impulse about it earlier. Impulse seems a bit lonely, since Tango and Zed are merpeople."
"Yeah, Iskall's been complaining about how it sucked to split up the trio of Architects. Cub keeps mumbling about 'Scar's too Scar to drown anyone, no way he's gonna get someone'." (Cub clearly hasn't seen 3rd Life yet-)
Joe snickered at this. "Scar's planning on getting someone, so we'll see. We've been practicing our songs in pairs, and Scar's voice is pretty powerful."
"How about yours? Is it like, rated?"
Joe laughed. "Yeah, actually. Wels gave the idea of rating it from one to a hundred. According to Scar, I'm a 65. Fairly average."
"How'd you rate Scar?'
"87."
"Nice."
"C'mon Scar, you can do it! Tonight, you'll get him, I know it!" Bdubs was trying to help boost Scar's confidence, and it seemed to work.
"Yeah, I'll get us a point. I can, and I will!"
Meanwhile, Etho was swimming over to the merpeople's castle. He'd gotten the location from Marra earlier that morning, he wanted to talk with Doc for a bit.
"Hello? Am I lost?" He called out into the water. He saw a shadow fall over him. He looked up to see the Sailors' ship, which Xisuma had named the SS Hermonia, looming over him. He recognized Joe Hill's familiar figure swimming beside it.
"Hey, Joe!" He shouted, his voice echoing oddly through the water.
Joe stopped mid-sentence. "-one minute, I think someone's calling me."
The poet slipped under the waves, and looked around for the person speaking.
"Over here." Etho quickly went over to Joe, and waved. "Any idea where the merpeople's base is? I've been looking all morning."
Joe gave the lost anime cosplayer instructions and told him to look for a specific island.
"It has an abandoned hut, and if you look north-east, you should find the castle."
Etho quickly thanked him and swam off. Joe floated back up to the surface and re-announced his presence.
"What happened?"
"Etho was lost."
The pair continued to talk.
Impulse needed some space. He didn't really know why, but he didn't feel great. As he mindlessly darted past another coral reef, he heard a POOF.
"Hey, you alright?"
Impulse stopped and turned toward the pirate girl. "I don't feel great."
POOF.
He and Marra were now in a modern bedroom, but he still had his tail. Luckily, he was on a loveseat, and she handed him a towel from nowhere.
"You can watch everything for a bit. Let me know if you need anything." Marra smiled and disappeared.
POOF.
Impulse looked around the room. The walls were covered with screens. He looked closer at the closest one, and he saw Zed and Tango circling around the newly named SS Hermonia. He heard them talking faintly, so he leaned closer. His hand hovered over the screen, until he accidentally tapped it. A set of headphones fell on his lap, and he (while being very confused) put them on.
Zed yawned. "This is boring."
"We're a point behind."
"And? It's a day in, and the game's supposed to last at least a month!"
"That doesn't mean we don't try to get an early lead."
"It's also a game. Wanna mess with the sailors again?"
"You go ahead, I'll chill here." Tango shook his head as Zed swam toward the smaller boat again. He lazily flipped his red tail and looked up.
Impulse watched his friends carefully. 'Is this what Marra's been doing during her free time so far? Just watching us? ... Okay, considering how she described her job, I guess this is normal.'
About an hour later, Impulse felt better after being entertained by everyone else doing their normal shenanigans. Nobody had gotten any new points yet. Yet.
"Hey Marra?" He asked quietly.
Poof.
"Yeah?"
"I'm ready to go back. Thank you."
"No problem, glad you're feeling better."
POOF.
Impulse was back in the Siren base.
Marra wondered if Impulse thought she was creepy for having the setup. 'Probably... I'd be creeped out if someone was always watching me.' (all the other Authors reading this: aHEM-)
*time skip to night*
"Cub, you probably shouldn't be there this late."
"I'll be fine." Cub insisted, despite literally everyone on his team telling him it was a bad idea. He was just going to fish, it's not like anyone would notice him.
Well, Scar really proved him wrong.

"My heart is pierced by Cupid,
I disdain all glittering gold.
There is nothing can console me,
But my jolly sailor bold."
Cub looked around wildly, dropping his fishing rod. "Who's there?!"
'Great, now there's more of them.' Cub thought as several more voices joined in. They all sounded the same... Wait, he only saw one person in the water. WAIT THERE'S A SIREN FIVE FEET AWAY FROM HIM-
<Cubfan135 was drowned by GoodTimesWithScar>
Scar cheered as Cub's figure poofed into white particles. "I did it!"
Grian came over and tackled him with a hug, causing him to somersault through the water as Bdubs swam over, a proud smile on his face. "See? I knew you could do it!"
Impulse also came over to congratulate Scar. "Nice job! He barely even was able to put up a fight!"
POOF.
"ONE POINT TO YOU, GOOD SIR!"
POOF.
POOF.
"WHAT'RE ALL DOING, THE SIRENS GOT ANOTHER POINT!"
POOF.
POOF.
"WHY DID YOU LET HIM STAY DOWN THERE, THE SIRENS GOT ANOTHER POINT!"
POOF.
"I told you."
CUBFAN135, YOU DUMMY-
*inhale* *exhale*
Listen to your crew when they go "that's stupid". That's the lesson here. But, the Sailors still got their first point, because only one person died that day.
Sirens: 3
Merpeople: 1
Sailors: 1
Impulse probably either wasn't used to lack of sunlight and usual human stuff along with some transformation issues, or he was really lonely (NO MY POOR BBY-)
Ahem. Anyway, someone forgot to patrol the ship at night (COUGH HYPNO COUGH), and we still haven't seen the Freeing Song in action. The Sirens are doing brilliantly so far, two points ahead of everyone else.
Also, I'M SORRY JEVIN, I DIDN'T MEAN TO WAKE YOU UP I SWEAR-
*loud angry yells*
Also, Scar may have been practicing all day. Just to get someone. Dang. Anyway, the Sailors will soon be passing an island village, where pretty much all the villagers are fishermen. By soon, I mean about a week.
*hangry yelling*
Oh, yeah. They need food. CRAP!
So, now the merpeople and Sirens eat dried kelp (supplied by me) and fish (which they catch on their own and I cook for them). I'M SORRY I SWEAR I DON'T WANT YOU TO STARVE-
ANYWHO, the next few days were really uneventful, but Jevin, Hypno, Ren, and pretty much every merperson saved a sailor once. The Sirens actually managed to get X-I-Sumy (nice job, Impulse!) and gained a point. Merpeople were really working hard these last three days though!
Merpeople: 8
Sirens: 4
Sailors: 4
Next chapter, it'll be five or six days in. Do me a favour and tell me if you spot any mistakes, especially in the scoring. Good bye!
