Chapter XVI
"You will not be punished for your anger, you will be punished by your anger,"
—Buddha
Draco watched as Fai fired the bow. It had been five hours of grueling work as she showed her capabilities. From swordsmanship to magic, she was working nonstop to show her father that she was in fact wrong enough to stop Lucifer.
That was all Draco needed to care for her even more.
The fact that she wanted to stop Lucifer to help her friends and the world showed just how good of a person she was. He couldn't help but beam at the thought.
However, his situation was less than ideal.
Not only was her prize the go ahead to fight Lucifer, but his life as well.
Fai forgot to mention that Fairies really do not like demons. She also failed to explain he was not just a demon, but also sort angel as well. She had tried to, but he was chained up and locked up before she could and she was sent to fight.
Draco was tied up with enchanted chains, meant to hold his demonic powers at bay. He didn't know what his powers were, much less how to wield them. He was also gagged, which was uncomfortable. The bars in front of him were made of iron and coated in holy water, which hurt like heck whenever he touched them. That didn't help show he was good.
He looked over at the king fairy, otherwise known as Micalni Yolnaebair. Draco wasn't sure how to pronounce it, as that was one hell of a name. Most fairies just referred to him as king or his majesty.
Draco then looked at Fai's father. His eyes were trained on his daughter, watching her intently. They looked almost identical, Draco could tell she got a lot of her looks from him. His blond hair was longer, curling at his shoulders. His eyes were the same sky blue, and were trained on his daughter as she worked. He had slight stubble, the kind you'd expect from a father. His wings looked similar to his daughter's, just more angular and they were a dark blue with black tips. The strangest thing about him was that he barely looked a day over twenty-five. It was weird seeing such a young looking guy with a teenage daughter.
The king looked pretty much the exact opposite. His hair was black and straight, and tied in a braid. His eyes were a dark green, and instead of eyeing Fai, he was looking anywhere else. He had a clean shaven face, and his skin was darker in color. In fact, Draco would consider him to look Italian almost. His wings looked like maple leaves strapped to his back. They started off as a dark, dark green at the point they met at his back, and slowly got lighter and lighter as they neared the ends, eventually reaching a lime green.
Draco was about to tear his eyes away, but the king met his eyes. Draco completely froze, fear constricting his entire body. The king scoffed, smirking at him. He then trained his attention back to Fai. Draco recovered and looked back towards Fai.
Fai pulled her arm back. Her arrow was swirled with green energy, something Draco hadn't seen yet. Perhaps it was something that only happened in this realm. Draco wrapped his arms around his knees. The cuffs clinked as they met.
The metal was cold against his skin, which only made him even more cold even with the King's horrid look from earlier.
Draco risked a look towards the royal family. Two princes and a princess. The Queen was either absent or dead, he didn't know which.
The oldest of the princes resembled their father, the same dark hair and skin tone, except his eyes were a vibrant violet. His hair was short, unlike every other male's. It was curled and rested a top his head. He could see his pointed ears, which were adorned with jewelry. His wings resembled more bird wings, they just weren't feathered. They were a deep purple and had dark blue mist swirling around them. He looked like he was close to eighteen or nineteen.
The younger prince had red hair with some light freckles dotting his lighter skin. His eyes were the same green as his father's, and his hair curly and flowing down his back. His wings resembled dragon fly wings, and were a wonderful sea blue color. He looked to be about sixteen.
The princess had red hair that was braided and pulled around her head, forming a halo. Her eyes were the same violet as her older brother, and she had freckles. Her wings looked like three flower petals on each one, and were a soft pink color. If Draco had to guess, she was close to fifteen. As Draco studied her, she suddenly met his eyes. Draco's eyes widened and he quickly looked away.
"That concludes the archery portion! Allow us to move onto the magical performance arena!" A booming voice suddenly sounded out. Draco looked up.
Fai looked exquisite, even though her hair was disheveled and she had a thin layer of sweat glistening on her skin. It was hot out, and she was wearing long clothing, so Draco didn't blame her. He held in his blush by looking away from her.
Fai walked over to her father, who led her out of the room. The king stood up and followed them, a trail of guards behind him. The oldest prince bowed to his father before walking over towards Draco.
The prince made a circling motion with his hand, and the cage lifted up. Draco sighed as he was moved ahead. The other prince and princess fell into place with their brother.
Draco closed his eyes, waiting to be set down. This sucked. He didn't think he'd be imprisoned. It wasn't his fault his mother was an angel and his dad was a demon.
Much less that fuckwad, Xezal.
Draco quickly calmed his emotions. If he were to explode in rage, who knows what would happen?
Suddenly, a soft voice broke him out of his thoughts. "Hey, Demon?"
Draco looked up, seeing the princess looking at him. She blinked her large violet eyes a few times. Draco noticed her brother also eyeing him, but not as obviously as their sister. Draco looked away. He wasn't a demon.
"Hello? Demon?"
Draco clenched his fist. "I'm not a demon, so don't call me one."
The princess sighed. "Sorry. You just are part demon, so one is to assume that you are."
"It's not like I asked—" Draco caught himself. His anger was making his chest hurt. Crap. "Sorry."
The oldest prince shook his head. "Why did Lady Fai bring you here?"
"Encouragement." Draco didn't even know why he said that. It's not like he wanted to. He frowned, touching his lips. Had he really just moved them?
Red-headed prince scoffed. "Really? What encouragement could a demon give?"
"I'm not—!" Draco slapped himself. The three were obviously not expecting it, as the cage stopped and they looked at him with wide eyes. "Sorry, I can't afford to get angry. So please, if you wish to talk to me, don't get me mad."
The princess blinked. "What happened when you get mad?"
"Not completely sure. I haven't been able to fully get made without being stopped. Last time I almost exploded, I got punched so hard in the back of my head I got a concussion. Fai was the one to help relive me of it."
"Why would she help you?" Red-headed prince asked.
"Dunno. Maybe because I'm one of the ones who is going to defeat Lucifer?" Hopefully.
The oldest prince sighed. Draco watched him put a hand on his sword hilt. He hadn't seen him touch it at all yet. Draco kept his fear out of his features as best he could. "Really? I thought a demon would want to join him."
"I'm not just a demon."
"What else are you then? Human?"
"You mean you can tel I'm a demon but you can't sense what else I am?" Draco asked, taken a back.
"The demonic part of you stinks so badly that you can't smell anything else. The natural assumption is human. After all, what other being could be so stupid as to mate with a demon?" Red-headed prince sneered.
Draco shook his head. "My mother didn't do it by choice. The demon raped her."
The princess gasped. "How horrible! The poor human!"
Draco crossed his arms, looking away. They were annoying. What was the point in telling them he wasn't human? He couldn't think of one.
"How terrible! I knew demons were absolute garbage and the supernatural sludge of the world, but to think they'd resort to forcing a woman to bear a child?! Ghastly!"
Draco shook his head, ignoring the princess. Suddenly, a loud gasp rang it, causing him to wince. "We didn't tell you our names!" The princess was pretty much shrieking now.
The oldest prince sighed. "Must we?"
"Yes! The poor thing! Look, he's trembling!"
With rage.
Red-headed prince sighed. "Fine then, tell him your name, sister."
"Princess Alisha Yolnaebair." The princess said, curtsying.
"Don't curtsy, sister!" Red-headed prince hissed.
"Athra!"
"You just told him my name!" Athra cried out, his green eyes widening.
Draco frowned. The oldest prince shook his head, clearly annoyed at his younger siblings. Princess Alisha looked completely flabbergasted. "You— you— you fiend!"
Prince Athra scowled. "That's the best insult you can come up with? What's the point of you receiving lessons if you can't even utilize them?!"
"Says you! You only spend like— you spend way too much time learning and not enough time socializing! Do you even know how to hold a proper conversation?"
"Yes! Of course I do! Do you even know what mathematics and the study of botany is?"
"Who even needs to know about that stuff?!"
"Any proper king!"
"I'll never be king! And neither will you, second-born!"
"You are the worst sister! I can't believe me and you came out of the same womb!"
The oldest prince suddenly slammed a fist against the bars of the cage, making Draco fall backwards. "Be quiet!"
The two others stopped, their eyes wide. "Z-Zevek..." Princess Alisha whispered, her eyes wide.
Prince Zevek sighed. "Apologies. You two are just the most annoying siblings to ever grace this world."
"Rude," Princess Alisha muttered, crossing her arms.
Prince Zerek rolled his eyes before pushing open the doors. On the other side was yet another arena, although this one resembled a colosseum. Draco watched as the cage suddenly lifted up higher and settled down next to the king, who was already seated down on the throne.
Draco sighed, and then looked down. Fai was already standing in the arena. The royal arguerers sat down on their thrones. The king looked towards Prince Zevek. "You took too long. She's already at the fighting part of the test."
Fighting part? Draco frowned, looking at her. Fai was wearing a different outfit, one more fit for maneuvering and fighting. Her hair was tied up in a chignon. She had her hands poised, ready to fire off some magic. A blade was strapped to her hip and she had a quiver and bow on her back.
You can do this, I believe in you! Draco thought, his smile wide and his eyes glimmering.
A door opened and this strange, hulking being walked out. Draco frowned. "What is that?"
"That, would be a dark nymph. One of the mutated ones, anyhow." Prince Athra answered, not even looking at Draco.
Draco gulped, looking down at the being. It did look somewhat humanoid. It's skin was black and cracked, almost as if it had been dried up. It was skeletal, but huge, almost as if it had muscles beneath the bones that made it huge. White fangs glistened atop its bottom lips. It's eyes were red and glowing. It growled at her, slamming its long arms against the ground. It barely had to bend for them to reach it. Fai readied herself, and then the battle began.
He lost count of how many people she fought.
They were all of different species, and she blew through them like nothing. Draco knew she could do it. There was no doubt.
However, things changed when the last person came through.
Instead of a monstrous being, an ordinary fairy stood there. Or rather, elven being. He had no wings. He wore a hood, but his sharp ears had holes specially placed so they went through them. A bush went through the crowd.
"No..." Prince Zerek muttered, his violet eyes wide.
Fai's father looked at the king. "King Yolnaebair, I beg of you! Don't make her fight him!"
Draco looked at the princess. "Who is that?"
"He— It's—"
"That is a Dark Elf, a rather horrid name for an elf who specializes in killing magic. They aren't bad guys, rather trained to fight enemies of the elves, but— Father, Why are you making Lady Fairwood fight one?" Prince Athra asked, looking at his father.
"A Dark Elf is a perfect example of a being that displays incredible power. If she can't defeat one, then what's the point of her risking her life to fight Lucifer?" The king was looking at Draco the whole time he said this.
"Your majesty, please, she's my only daughter—"
"Dai, stay out of this." King Yolnaebair said, not even acknowledging his adviser's pleas.
A scream suddenly rang out. Draco looked down, only to see Fai clutching her arm. Crimson blood dribbled out form between her fingers. The Dark Elf stood there, his hands still poised to fire again. One hand was pushed forward with his first two fingers pressed together as he pointed his palm towards her. The other was in a similar position, but pressed by his chest.
Draco could feel the anger building in him. "Dad! If he fires agains he could die!" Princess Alisha exclaimed.
What?! Draco whipped is head towards the king. "You need to call this off!" He said, the chains making a tremendous amount of noise as he threw himself towards him. "She's strong, but she can't die! Please!"
The king looked at him. "What would a demon like you care?"
Draco felt all his anger suddenly simmer away. It was instead replaced with this uncontrollable rage. He blinked, and then exploded.
A huge roar escaped from him. The chains and cuffs on him shattered. Draco could feel power rolling off him in waves. Everything grew hazy. He grabbed the bars of the cage. The holy water made his hands start to smoke, but he simply roared again, and the pain became of no issue. He tore through them like butter. Faint screaming could be heard in the background, but he didn't care.
He leapt out of the cage and landed in front of Fai. The Dark Elf was taken aback, his hands no longer poised to attack. Draco felt a growl grow out of his chest as he looked at him. He was completely aware of every move his opponent made, and that of Fai's. She shifted, her blood still pouring out. "Draco, what's going on?"
Draco held out his hands, and two blades materialized in them. He looked at the Dark Elf. He attempted to say something, but all that came out was more crazed growling. The Dark Elf readied himself, prepares to fight. "Draco, wait—"
People in the audience stared at him, both in awe and shock.
Draco was standing in front of the Dark Elf, twin swords in hands. Two devil horns twisted out of his forehead, Black in color with patches of crimson. On his back were black wings, with sharpened feathers that resembled blades.
His powers had awakened.
As the elf fired his shot and Draco ran out him, everything turned black.

Heya. Like this chapter?
I personally am incredibly happy with the Daevas. I love it. So much. The Four Horsemen have always been something that I've been interested in. Honestly, Christianity is incredible and I love it. I love the angels and demons. It's great.
I love the idea of the Four Horsemen being a mix of angels and demons. It makes sense, right? The represent bad things, but each have some good in them. Death, War, Famine, and Pestilence. Love it.
Anyways— the chapter.
Personally, I love fairies. I'm not always great with them, and honestly I don't have te heart to google every single thing about them, so I'm basically making them up as I go. It works. My story, my rules. That's how it goes. No fighting it. Boo boo.
I hope you enjoy this chapter! I know I do, so yay!
Also, I have no idea how many parts are going to be in this. I still have to carve out the other Daevas powers, and then I have to tie up some other threads, like the humans coming in and such. There's a good chance there will be more than seven parts. I don't know if it'll meet ten, but if it does, then this book is fairly long.
One day I am going to write Myth High. For now, I'm going to leave it. I have to get the rest of the series finished, and then I can work one edits.
Anyhow, I'll see you all later!
Adios!
