Training Time
Percy was grinning like a madman. Every single camper had been woken up at 6:00 am in the morning, apparently they were used to 9:00 am. Many of them were groaning and moaning, but none dared question him.
They all knew who he was now, most were who knew the actual story and not the rumors didn't understand how he looked so young. The rest were just in awe at being near the legendary demigod.
It seemed his fame was far above that of Hercules or even Zeus himself.
Percy gave them a few minutes to wake up and get ready for what they were about to go through. This was going to be the same training routine he and the seven went through on the Argo 2, just with his own special twist to it.
"Okay, its time you kids were shown how to fight. It seems that you were allowed to quit training because the threats to Olympus were presumed gone. That was a mistake, a mistake that may cost you all your lives. I am here to correct that mistake, you will learn from me and whomever else I choose to train you. Understood?"
Nobody said a word, they just nodded their heads.
"Good." He grinned.
Clarisse La Rue will be your heavy weapons trainer. Nico Di Angelo will be training you on how to combat creatures of the Underworld. Chiron will resume his archery lessons with anyone willing to learn how to use a bow. And, as much as your all going to hate this, the Lieutenant of the Hunters of Artemis will train you in hand-to-hand combat. I will be training anyone using a sword."
Some people complained, but they couldn't do anything about it. Percy's chosen teachers stepped forward. Thalia had come to Camp Half-Blood at Percy's request. Their reunion had been a heart melting one, they hadn't seen each other in years and both had cried when they saw each other.
"Go ahead and split off into your groups, I will be taking my class to the lake. Once everyone was in their groups, Percy took his students to the lake as he had said.
One kid raised his hand, "Why are we here?" She asked.
Percy looked at her, "Because it saves room in the arena for the other groups. Besides, I am a son of Poseidon, the water calms me. Plus, you never know what kind of terrain you will be fighting on and sand isn't exactly easy to fight on."
"What are we starting with?" Another student asked.
Percy smiled, At least these kids were eager to learn. "Well, I want to know how much you all know. This way I can get a good idea of where to start. I will have you all come and try to disarm me, one at a time."
He noticed a few of them were talking to each other, one of them was leading them in their little chat. He had let it go when he first noticed it, but now they were interrupting his lesson.
"Anything you have to say to me?" Percy asked.
The boy, he looked to be seventeen or eighteen, stopped talking immediately. His friends began to snicker until Percy looked at them as well.
"Well, anything you wish to add or can I get on with teaching you how to survive?"
The kids face turned a deep shade of red, Percy wasn't sure if he was embarrassed, angry, or both.
"Why do I have to learn how to fight a war? I am a son of Zeus, we do not need to fight, that's what children of Ares are for." The kid spat.
Percy's eyes narrowed, "Come here, now." He said in a low voice.
The boys face lost some of its color, but he stood up straight and walked toward the son of Poseidon. When the kid was in reach, Percy swung his fist. A loud pop was heard when Percy's fist connected with the kids jaw.
The son of Zeus began to scream in pain as he clutched his jaw. The other students stared at the scene stunned, this guy had just hit a son of Zeus.
"Y-you will pay f-for this. My f-father will send you to T-Tartarus."
Percy smiled, "Your father will not touch me. I am a son of Poseidon, my father would tear Olympus down if Zeus even thought about harming me."
The kids friends drew their swords and stood next to their friend. "You might be a legend, but even legends eventually die." The kid snarled before he too drew his sword as he and his three friends charged.
Percy grinned, "Come get the ass beating you never had."
He stood there waiting, no weapon in hand. The other students screamed at him to draw his sword, but he ignored them. The first kid tried to cut his head off, but Percy's hand caught his wrist. He used his free hand to punch the kid in the face a couple of times.
He took his sword and deflected the blade of the kid with the broken jaw. Percy spun around him and hit him in the head with the butt of the sword. He was unconscious like his friend.
The last two stood there stunned, this guy had taken out two of their friends in seconds. "Well, What are you waiting for?" Perch taunted.
Both kids wisely sheathed their swords.
"Good, now will someone take these two to the infirmary? The rest of you, line up!"
Line Break
"I see you had an eventful training session." Clarisse commented as she sat down next to Percy. Being trainers had given them the privilege to sit wherever they wanted. Right now all of the trainers sat at the Poseidon table, Chiron excluded as he usually sat at the head table.
Percy took a bite of his sandwich and chewed it for a minute before swallowing. "The kid thought he was better than everybody else. Apparently children of Zeus don't need to fight, that's what children of Ares are for." Percy said while smirking. He knew Clarisse would be pissed after hearing that.
"Maybe you should have just killed him." She muttered.
Percy laughed, "Yeah, Zeus may not be able to harm me, but if I killed one of his sons then he would find some way to get to me. That is trouble I don't need."
"True, I guess breaking his jaw and giving him a concussion wasn't too bad then. He does deserve worse though. Continue to kick his ass for me?" She asked, a knowing smile on her face.
"Sure, I don't like him much either." Percy said, a grin on his face.
"Great, only been here a day and you have already found someone you don't like, I'm starting to think this is a pattern with you." Nico laughed. Thalia had to resist spitting her water all over the table.
"You have no idea." Thalia muttered after she managed to stop her laughter.
Percy frowned at his friends, "Hey, not my fault that people can't seem to get along with me."
Nico smirked, "You ever think that its you and not everyone else?"
"Shut up." Percy muttered. The rest laughed at him.
"C'mon, we have to go to Olympus to give a debrief on our first day of training. Chiron said he would work on their endurance for the rest of the day." Clarisse said before getting up.
"Last one their has to spend a day with Apollo!" Nico shouted before disappearing into a shadow. Percy was the next to go as he just vanished, Clarisse following their lead by flashing away.
"Assholes." Thalia groaned before walking to the camp vans.
It took Thalia an hour to get through New York traffic. The guy at the front desk wasn't helping her mood either when he refused to give her the key to the elevator, until she electrocuted him unconscious that is.
"About time you got here, the meeting is about to start." Nico said as she made it to the doors of the throne room. He had to duck underneath her fist. Percy grinned, "Yeah, now you have to spend a day with Apollo. Good luck!"
Percy and Nico both vanished which left Thalia alone with Clarisse. "You could have brought me here." Thalia complained.
The daughter of Ares smiled, "I would have, but that would have left me the loser and I am not spending an entire day with that immature god."
Thalia frowned at her, "So you left me to do it? I thought we were friends."
"We are, but we aren't close enough for me to take it for you. I would rather take a spear to the throat." She said before flashing inside the throne room.
Thalia groaned before pushing the throne room doors open. It seems the meeting had just started when she opened them. She quickly made her way towards her seat in front of Artemis, who tried to contain her laughter at her lieutenant.
Thalia glared at her three friends before paying attention to what her father was saying.
"I have heard of the incident that occurred during your training session this morning. Explain yourself this instance." Zeus commanded, obviously pissed off.
Percy stood up from his seat from in front of his father's throne. Poseidon, already knowing his sons intentions, tried and failed to keep a straight face. Percy slowly stretched, a few pops were heard before he slowly made his way to the center of the throne room. He yawned for a good five seconds, trying to piss Zeus off as much as he could.
Zeus was about to open his mouth when Percy started speaking. "Well, your son thought he did not have to learn to fight. I simply told him he was wrong and that he did or he was going to face punishment. Obviously he chose punishment." Percy said, a wicked grin adorning his face.
"You struck a son of Zeus, I should have you thrown into the pits of Tartarus itself!" Zeus growled.
Percy smiled, "Then you would have no one to train that insolent little shit on how to survive. According to him only children of Ares are for fighting. I simply made him shut his mouth."
Ares growled, "That little fuck! I will show him!"
Zeus turned his attention on his son, "You will not touch him."
Ares glared before backing down, he didn't need to be on his fathers bad side.
"Father, he is right. These demigods have been allowed to slack off because you all believed there were no more threats. Now we have to come in and train these children to fight an enemy we know nothing about. Should we not be more focused on discovering who this mysterious man might be or are we going to try and kill each other like the enemy wants?" Thalia said, annoyed at her father and a little with Percy because he was egging Zeus on.
"Thalia is right, we need to send out a quest to find answers about who this guy is. All we know is that he is a son of Erebus." Clarisse added.
"I can search the Underworld for clues. There may be some who know something of this demigod." Nico offered, a little too hopefully. He enjoyed spending time with his cousins, but he preferred the company of the dead to the living.
"That's a good idea, go ahead and get started. Clarisse and Thalia, I need both of you to continue showing those kids the basics. I think I might have a way to increase our odds, but I need some time to do it."
"You should be grateful that I am in a good mood." Zeus said to Percy before sitting up a little straighter, "Now, return to Camp Half-Blood. We will need you all rested for the many weeks to come. Jason will be waiting for you, he is in charge of the camp so you will be following his orders from now on."
Percy's eyes narrowed, "I will do as I see fit."
The son of Poseidon evaporated before his uncle could reply.
Percy returned to see Jason had been healed and was looking thoroughly pissed off. The son of Poseidon made his way towards the arena where Chiron was teaching an archery class. Jason glared at him, but said nothing and just followed.
Percy grinned, if Zeus thought he was going to take orders from him then he had another things coming.
"Chiron, we need to speak." Percy said just as the centaur went to leave.
The son of Kronos smiled and trotted over to his favorite student. "What do you need?"
Percy smiled, "We need to send a quest to gather more information on our enemy. I suggest picking the three most capable warriors you have. We need to be ready and we can't afford any mistakes."
"Of course, Perseus. May I ask, what will you be doing?"
Percy's happy expression turned to a sad one, "Gathering allies. We will need many if we are going to survive this."
