Chapter 78
NO ONE's POV
Raven called Zane with telepathy, they rushed as he arrived "Thank goodness!" she exhaled, "we need your help!" Ash said, "It's Fiona" Iceberg chipped in. They narrated everything to him.
Zane bowed his head with squinted eyes. "She screams when frustrated, growls and swears often. It's scary," Cyan said.
Fiona was sitting with her leg crossed, she stared at them knowingly "What is Zane doing here?" Raven looked at her sides like she was asking if she should say, "Monthly checkups?" Raven shrugged with a fake smile.
Fiona glared at them, "I'm fine." Zane observed her for a while, he slashed his wrist with a knife, Fiona's eyes followed as it trickled down, "blood" she grinned in excitement.
Zane signaled her to come, she moved her feet slowly, mesmerized by the maroon color. Zane waited to get closer then injected her with a green liquid. Fiona hollered, staggering for some minutes.
"Fiona!" they hurried to help, "no, she'll be fine," Zane blocked them. After a while Fiona stopped and raised her head "What happened?" she stared at their pale faces.
"You're nice again!" Ash burst into tears and hugged her, Fiona hugged back in confusion.
"Take a seat," Zane motioned, "the Glorindian state of a salvin is unstable, you need to stop," he said. "Why?" she darted, "It can be very dangerous during a blood moon" he replied.
Fiona recalled what happened the last time she received unimaginable strength in her Elevana body. "I must get stronger if I want to end this," Fiona thought.
"I don't have a choice," she answered.
LOUIS' POV
I've been immersed in my work for two years since Fiona made her decision, the guilt of leaving the kid in the hands of an artificial intelligence hunts me every time.
I remembered the days of my childhood, my Mom was focused on her restaurant, Dad was too hard on me but Nicholas was there to cheer me up. This boy has no one.
It dawned on me that I've been stupid all these years. I hope it's not too late to make up for my mistakes.
...
I knocked on his door, "come in" he said, I opened the door slowly and walked in, he was sitting on the couch with Mint.
Phoenix gasped and dropped his controller, he stood up with his head bowed "It's good to see you, Louis," his whole body quaked at my arrival, it will be a lot harder than I thought.
"Hi, what are you doing?" I said, "A-about to turn off the television," he stuttered. I paused for a while "Can we talk?"
Phoenix forced a smile then sat at the other end of the chair. I inhaled and darted to him, "I-I'm sorry. I blamed you for something that wasn't your fault. I was being immature and foolish" His eyes widened with his mouth slightly opened.
"I failed in my parent duty, I'm sorry," I said. Phoenix froze "It's okay," he faked a smile. I nodded then got up, "feel free to talk to me anytime."
I knew it was not so easy for him to open up, I came to chat regularly even when he was feeling awkward. I scheduled time to pick him up from school and take him to places he liked. It took him three years to fully get comfortable with me.
FIONA's POV
I returned from my daily training session in the afternoon, I squinted at Louis hiding behind a tree and Phoenix parading in the garden "What are they doing?" I said internally.
"I know you're here Dad!" he half-yelled and darted "Gotcha!" Phoenix shot him with a water gun. Louis held his chest dramatically "Oh! You got me." I chuckled at his bad acting then shook my head.
"Mom!" Phoenix gripped my stomach, "what are my boys up to?" I patted his silky hair, "hide and seek! Dad took a day off" he said happily. I raised my head and Louis smiled at me from afar.
I was impressed at the unity of my family, I never thought this day would come.
...
Louis gathered us for a meeting in the evening. "I have good news," he gazed at our reactions. "Tell us! Tell us!" Phoenix wiggled.
"We have a house in Diadora, now we can spend the holidays with Violet" He smiled at me knowingly. "Oh my gosh!" I grinned. Louis turned to Phoenix, "Are you ready to meet your second grandma?" he nodded with a smile.
NO ONE POV
The house was similar to the one in Magnolia with an in-built Chloe artificial intelligence.
They built a snowman together, made snow angels and attacked each other with snowballs. Although it was winter the river still looked like it was summer. Violet was happy to see her grandchild, they discussed many things.
"Are you up for a game?" Phoenix whispered to his Dad, "You bet" he said. They both excused themselves and went to the forest.
...
He paused as he noticed an abandoned wooden house that was not there the last time he visited, Louis tapped his shoulder,
"Run!" Phoenix raised a force shield as an electric blot struck from behind, pieces of wood and snow heaved on their protection.
Griffin entered the house, "Daddy came to pick you up," he grinned. "Go away! I have a Dad," Phoenix said. Griffin's face turned to a frown "Show some respect!" he propelled with his fist.
The glass shattered as she dived with a jab "Pick on someone your own size." He shoved the pile of wood in gritted teeth.
Fiona ducked at his flying kick, the wall cracked behind her, she sidestepped and took a stance. Fiona dodged his swift mid-air attacks, she groaned as his spin kick threw her off balance. Griffin bounced on her with his feet. The building began to collapse.
The pressure broke the shield, Louis pushed Phoenix out of the way, he groaned as a heavy plank landed on his leg.
Griffin grinned at them, his hand gripped on Fiona's neck. Phoenix sobbed helplessly at the state of his parents. "Run! Don't stop" Louis said. He dashed, wiping his tears off.
Fiona thought as she gasped for air, "I failed. No matter how hard I try, he'll be a step forward. I need more!"
Fiona's eyes widened at the blood moon, she growled as a purple aura burst out. Griffin was catapulted to the wall.
Black-skinned Fiona rose with short silver hair dressed in leather black swimsuit and knee-high boots, she growled at Griffin staring with her full purple eyes.
"I-Impossible," he muttered. She attacked with her purple claws, ten times faster like a cheetah, landing on four feet. Fiona smirked, showing her fangs.
"My turn," Griffin said. "Devil's chain!" he flung his weapon around her, "hmm... baby tricks," she pulled it and punched him.
Griffin tugged the chain around her ankle, Fiona raised her head "Fuck you! Asshole" She hammered her heels on his head then tossed him through the window.
Griffin pulled back as her nails whooshed in the air, she growled and launched again leaving multiple cuts on his skin.
Griffin cleaned the blood on his mouth, Fiona's eyes widened in amusement "More! More!" she attacked growling like a wild beast.
She inflicted brutal wounds, humanity has been lost. Griffin panted as his weak body disappeared into thin air.
Fiona's eyes widened, "where is he!" she roared as she searched in the snow. She paused and darted to Louis through the damaged wall with those dark purple eyes.
Fiona licked the blood off her index finger with a smirk. Louis didn't blink as she sprang in his direction on four limbs.
Fiona was about to jump on him but Zane kicked her then stabbed her with a syringe, she whimpered for some seconds and became unconscious.
"What did you do to my wife!" Louis said. Zane stared with his cold eyes, "she could've killed you, but she's stable now." Zane pushed the wood then healed his leg "I'm a friend," he said after Louis' intense stare.
...
He ran to his parents from a distance. Louis and Phoenix went inside the house after thanking Zane. Fiona was about to leave when he called her.
They stared at the red moon. Zane inhaled "That body keeps eating you up, the medicine just slows the process" He glimpsed at her, "What happens if you lose your mind? Or Griffin returns?" he sighed.
Zane saw a dangerous magenta glint in her eyes, Fiona tilted her head with a psychopathic grin "All I hear is blood! This bitch is waiting."
