Chapter 18
FIONA's POV
This was the first time I was staring at Louis and he was not staring back, I wondered if he was scared to ask.
"No thanks I'm good, why is this so important to you?" he rubbed the back of his neck and hesitated still avoiding my eyes
"Y-you'd make a great cheerleader... also it's my first game in Dian... and I'd like it if you could... Ummm.. cheer for me, I mean it will be nice to get support from you"
"I can't help you with that... but I might come for the competition"
Louis grinned widely "You would? Thanks!" my body stiffened as he pulled me into a bear hug that lasted a little longer than normal
"Hmm... Louis, that's enough" I managed to whisper
"Oh! Sorry" he moved back with his grin never leaving his face for a minute
"Bye, I'm going home" I walked to the gate without waiting for his response.
As I was preparing for the night I forgot all about the stress of my part-time jobs, but I couldn't stop thinking about Louis' smile.
I chuckled lightly as I brushed my hair in front of the mirror.
"Don't be a fool Fiona! Remember what Suzy said" I exhaled then inwardly questioned myself about why my presence in his first game matters a lot.
I was in the middle of my debate when my hair turned silver slowly creeping to my ankle, a diamond crystal appeared on my head, my ears grew thinner and longer then my skin became paler. It's was already midnight and I was awake thinking about a guy all day that possibly forgot about my existence as soon as I left.
I glanced at myself in the mirror as my heart felt heavier "Suzy was right... I don't belong here, I don't belong anywhere... I should stay out of trouble and not do anything I would regret later" I curled on my bed wishing all my sadness would disappear.
I jumped out of bed as my phone vibrated. I picked it up rubbing my sleepy eyes to see clearer.
"Why would Louis call by 6 am on Saturday" I sighed before answering
"Louis, why are you up by this time? What's so important that you can't wait for an hour or two?"
"Fiona... you were asleep?"
"Of course! Why should I be awake?"
"Oh sorry... I have soccer practice by 10 am-"
"But that's in four hours! What did I ever do to you huh? "
"I have soccer lessons in an hour... private lessons"
"Why so early?"
"Time is money... that's what my Dad always says" I could hear his faint chuckle coming after
"Yeah... right" I said in an unenthusiastic tone before asking
"Why did you call?"
"Oh! I almost forgot... it's about the practice, people are allowed to support the team, I-I was wondering if you would like to watch me play... I mean we play!"
I smiled as I imagined what Louis' face would look like now, the last time I saw him he looked so adorable when he was stammering.
"Hmm... I'd be busy today but I will try"
"Thanks! I can't wait"
"Same, bye"
"See you soon Fiona"
After the call I couldn't sleep back so I prepared for the day in an hour dressed in a black and white polka dot gown and black flats then packed my hair in a ponytail, I applied baby pink lip gloss before leaving.
When I was done with all my shifts for today I strolled on the streets feeling as free as a bird.
"My best time of the day" I inhaled deeply with a smile. I've been feeling something was not right since morning but I never thought about it. I checked my phone and it was 1 pm
"Soccer practice!" I hyperventilated and quickly boarded a taxi to school.
I ran to the soccer field as fast as I could, when I got there a group of boys in blue and white jerseys were gathered, I moved close enough to see them and I found Louis with some of his friends with familiar faces.
My eyebrows ceased when I found Suzy in her flashy blue and silver cheerleading outfit, they were all laughing and discussing. All of a sudden the others left except Louis, he was giving her one of his cute wide grins. Seeing them together was nauseating, I turned to leave shortly.
"Fiona! Fiona!" I stopped on my tracks as I heard his voice from afar.
I took a deep breath then turned my emotionless face to a frown when I saw Suzy standing next to him.
"You made it" he smiled at me but it didn't make me feel better.
"I forgot all about it"
"It's okay... I understand"
"How could you forget? I was here before they started to cheer for Louis... you know? Being his cheerleader and all" Susan chirped it and I was tempted to say something nasty but controlled myself.
"Cheerleaders always arrive early, nothing special" Louis retorted then I half-smiled at the priceless expression on her face.
She masked it with a smile "See you around, we had fun today... I won't miss the game for sure" Susan gave him a flirty look then turned on her heels. I was certain they shared a glance one last time.
My heart skipped a beat "They had fun? What does she mean by 'fun'?" I internally asked myself?
"Fiona" I raised my head with widened eyes as I heard my name
"I lost you there for a second... what were you thinking about?"
"Nothing... you have all the support you need so I'll get going"
"Hey calm down" he pulled my hands and looked into my eyes "what's wrong?"
"You know how busy I am and you couldn't call or text before practice instead you were having fun with Suzy!" I blurted out
