Thinking of her
~707's POV~
Morning came before I even realize it. It was always hard to tell since my house never had any windows. The clock on my phone told me that it was time to get up and go back to work. Well, that and the fact that Vanderwood woke me up with his taser again.
"How many times do I have to remind you the importance of this job, Zero Seven?" He scoffed at me with a look of annoyance.
"Miss Vanderwood! How did you get inside? The password outside changes at midnight." I said.
"I carry around an Arabic dictionary because of you," he said as he looked around the house with a frown. "I just cleaned this place and you already managed to make it look even worse than before. I can't believe you live like this."
Looking around me with amusement, I spotted the cans of Ph D Pepper scattered on the floor around my computer, the empty bags of Honey Buddha chips were left on the couch where I was lounging yesterday. I thought that drinking plenty of Ph D Pepper would help keep me awake to finish my work for the agency, but it turns out that I ended up building a robot as soon as Vanderwood left my place.
"What is that thing? I don't remember seeing this." Vanderwood glared at my invention like it was a curse. "When did you make this? You better not have slacked off again, Agent Seven!"
I could only laugh at my situation, hoping to lighten the atmosphere. Vanderwood was always so serious and I would be the clown that would get on his nerves. We were like a comedic duo.
"Hey do you hear something?" I asked, tilting my head slightly to listen. There was a ringing sound somewhere nearby, a music to my ears as I escape the clutches of evil called work.
"I think that's your phone," Vanderwood replied, walking over to the source of the sound and spotting my phone on the couch. "There's a call from someone called Legacy--"
When I heard the name leave his lips, I immediately bolted for the couch and dove down to grab my phone, my fingers quickly pressing the answer button before she could hang up. I felt my heartbeat pounding wildly in anticipation. Legacy had been avoiding me ever since I called her last night. I didn't think she'd be the one to call me first today.
"Hello? It's Legacy. I had a talk with the others about what happened and....I don't know. Yoosung told me to accept you but I feel like I just can't, you know? Zen was more supportive than I thought too." She laughed awkwardly at the last part.
"If you can't accept me now then I'll just keep at it until you do." I smiled. "I'll make sure you know how much I'm serious."
"O-Oh. I wasn't prepared for you to say that. I figured you would just give up right away or something... Why do you even want to waste your time falling in love with someone like me? I'm nothing special like you are. You're intelligent, fun, hilarious, sweet... I can't even name them all. You're so amazing that the dictionary doesn't have enough words to describe-- Oh my god, what the hell am I saying!? Oh gosh that was so embarrassing. I can't believe I blabbed this much... Why didn't you stop me!?" She whined and I could almost imagine her blush.
"So you think I'm fun?" I chuckled, wiggling my eyebrows. "And sweet?"
"SHUT UP! OH MY GOD!!!" She screamed. I laughed at her reaction.
"Hurry up and finish the call. I didn't come here to just clean this pigsty; I came here to remind you to WORK!" Vanderwood hollered at my ear.
"Who was that? Someone said something about work. I didn't realize you would be working this early. I'm sorry, I'll hang up now. See you, Seven." She dropped the call before I could even say goodbye, but at least we seem to be friendlier towards each other again.
"--the boss is going to kill us if you don't-- Zero Seven, are you listening to me?!" Vanderwood huffed.
"No!" I replied.
"Get back to work already!!! God... I can't believe you. I'm going to clean so you better do your job."
He stalked away to the kitchen, probably to make some coffee for the both of us. But I still couldn't stop the grin on my face. Legacy's voice was fresh in my mind and it motivated me so much.
I hurriedly logged in to the messenger to chat with her a bit more before Vanderwood came back. The first chat of the day was about me. I could read how panicked she was, dropping a call that she thought was mine. Well, I guess I would have been the same in her situation.
"What's this about a bug though??" I wondered. "Oh, wait. That's probably because they don't know about Legacy yet. This last message though..."
"I thought I told you to get back to work already." Vanderwood's shadow loomed over me. I hesitantly look up and saw his death glare ready to pierce through my soul. "Get to work or I'm taking your phone."
"What? Hey, you can't do that." I said, holding my phone away.
"I didn't tell the boss about you and the RFA because considering you became an agent so young, I let it slide. But if the situation calls for it then I'm saving my ass and reporting that group." He threatened.
"Okay, okay. You're the boss and I'm the servant." I sighed in defeat. "But there was a strange message in the app. The hacker must've come back. I'll do my work after I finish this real quick."
I ran to the computer and started changing the algorithm again. For the hacker to be able to hack again into the app, it was starting to become very suspicious.
I told Vanderwood that I need to talk to the others about it. Calling V was probably the best decision, but he didn't have any signal from wherever he was. I shuddered, getting a strange feeling that Legacy could be in danger. This only made me want to fix things and make sure she was safe, something that an angry taser-holding Vanderwood did not like.
