The Savior
~Flashback~
"One - two - mic test."
A woman's voice echoed throughout the venue, interrupting the conversation Legacy was having with Jumin.
"Hm?" Jumin turned towards the source and blinked in surprise.
"Is Mr. Han in the room? If you are, you must return the RFA member you just took with you."
Jaehee stood at the podium on the stage as she looked around the room. After spotting Legacy and Jumin at the far end of the room, she smiled.
"Ah, there you are. Pardon me, everyone. I was looking for someone."
Legacy had known Jaehee for a very short amount of time, but she knew her well enough to know that Jaehee wouldn't usually be so bold to call for her former boss using a microphone. Jaehee quickly apologized to the crowd of guests for surprising them.
"Mr. Han has been hogging one of our members so I had to take the mic." She explained.
"I assume that Mr. Han has been personally recruiting candidates to fill in his empty assistant position," she told them. "But if anyone knows someone who's qualified to be Mr. Han's next chief assistant, then please give recommendations."
"What?" Jumin widened his eyes at the announcement.
In response to the words of Jaehee on stage, several females looked towards Jumin suggestively and began calling him out. Seeing the amount of attention given to him by shallow women, he looked like he became a little irritated and excused himself.
Legacy felt a little sorry for him but it couldn't be helped. She decided to leave him alone for now so he could collect his thoughts.
Jaehee thanked everyone for coming to the party and left the stage. She walked towards Legacy with a bright smile on her face and the shorter girl smiled back.
As soon as they were together, she couldn't help but compliment Legacy on the amount of guests she was able to invite within a span of a week.
"You did very well," said Jaehee. "I'm so happy right now. Very happy to finally meet you. It's the first time I'm meeting you...but it feels like we're old friends. Do you remember...all the conversations that we had? I really wanted to meet you. I mean it."
Her honest confession made Legacy's heart feel warm and happy. She was aware that Jaehee didn't have many female friends and was honored to be the first one she could call 'friend'.
"I'd like to become better friends with you." Jaehee told her, a strong determination burning in her eyes. "Now that I'm no longer working for Mr. Han, I will no longer be working at a big corporation. Instead I want to make a very fresh start from a very small place."
Legacy smiled even wider when Jaehee admitted that she knew Jumin was going to try and recruit her as his new assistant. She had grabbed the mic and managed to successfully interrupt their conversation and make the corporate heir leave her new friend alone. Then, she asked Legacy if she wanted to become a part of her new beginning.
Just the two of them.
"All you need to contribute is your ideas and positive mind," she explained with sincerity. "It'll be at least 20 times more fun than being an assistant. Legacy... Won't you create a space of our own with me?"
"Will you be my partner?"
~End of Flashback~
"Wake up, Legacy..." called a voice so familiar yet so different.
With a weak groan and a slight headache, Legacy managed to pry her eyes open and look around her. She was no longer outside of the mysterious castle-like building but inside a large throne room. A woman with blonde hair sat on the throne in front of her with a cold gaze.
She shivered from fear but kept her expression devoid of any emotion - who knows what could happen to her if this person found out just how utterly terrified she was. With her hands tied behind her back and her feet bounded by a heavy chain, Legacy sat motionless on the floor before the blonde stranger.
"Savior... What will we do with her now?" Unknown asked anxiously.
"Let me handle her," this so-called savior told him. "For now, I want you to deal with our little pest. You should be able to do that, right?"
Legacy looked over her shoulder at her captor as he contemplated for a minute before nodding. It was no doubt that this was the hacker Unknown that brought her inside the game, but why did he look and sound so familiar..?
Her eyes widened after quickly realizing it. But before she could stop him from leaving, he had already turned his back and made his way out.
"So... You're supposed to be my legacy, huh?" The savior laughed. "I have been watching you for a while now... I must admit, you really intrigue me."
"Intrigue..?" Legacy was taken aback.
Obviously she never thought that she was fascinating enough to be able to intrigue someone, and when the savior noticed the look of confusion and embarrassment in her eyes...she smiled.
"Yes, I became intrigued. You are just like me in many ways but at the same time different in many ways as well." She explained as she got up from her seat and walked closer to her. "We both want to be bathed in everlasting happiness... We both have a darkness inside us..."
Legacy shuddered when the woman caressed her cheek. A strange prickly feeling tingled her skin as she dragged a slender finger up to her glasses. Legacy swallowed down her words when the woman took off her glasses and examined them carefully.
Her eyes were a beautiful green color but...the way they looked wasn't at all beautiful. Those eyes of hers showed nothing but negativity behind them, and they made the brilliant pigment fade into a dull shade of green.
There was something wrong about her, Legacy was almost certain of it.
As the stranger examined her glasses, she took a deep breath and gathered all of her courage to ask her an unavoidable question. Despite how scared she felt at the moment, she forced herself to look at the woman eye to eye and speak out her thoughts.
"Who are you?"
Saeyoung would save her, she trusted in him and would wait patiently for him to come for her. But Legacy would be lying if she said that she didn't wish he would come rescue her faster.
The image of Jaehee suddenly came to mind and she found herself missing the coffee-loving assistant. Jaehee had been skeptical of her at first when she first entered the chatroom, but then the two grew to be quite close and care for each other as if they were long lost sisters.
That dream of Jaehee just moments ago...that was a memory, wasn't it? One that Legacy had lost upon entering the world of Mystic Messenger...
Whatever was going to happen to her in this horrible place, she was at least glad to know now that she was able to become friends again with everyone in the RFA. If her life ended here...then she was happy to finally realize that she was never alone from the start. She had the RFA with her this whole time and they stuck by her through good and bad.
Her eyes began to well up with tears as the savior knelt in front of her - a chained prisoner - and grinned almost eerily. Her voice was barely audible but she was close enough for Legacy to hear her clearly.
"My name is Rika... Welcome to Mint Eye, my legacy..."
