Chapter 35: Christmas!
It was the day after the Christmas RFA party and you were heading to the C&R office to meet up with the guys to later go out to 'Somewhere nice' in Zen's words. He didn't want you to know because it was a surprise.
"Good afternoon Melody!" You greeted the nice desk lady.
"Oh, Y/n! Nice to see you again" She said formally.
"Nice to see you too!" You answered with a smile.
"Going to Mr.Han's office right? I'll tell him you're on your way." She reached over for the intercom system but you stopped her before she could.
"W-Wait, please! I want to make this a surprise."
"Oh, of course." She looked at the many gifts you were holding in your arms.
"Thanks!" You said while heading for the elevator. Once you were in, you started to get excited about what their reactions to your presents might be.
You almost couldn't hold back your excitement as you made your way down the hall.
"Did you see that huge tree they put in the front of the building?!" You heard Seven shouts in amazement from inside the office as you made your way to the door.
You rolled your eyes at his childish antics.
You stood outside, finding the right moment to burst in and scare them!
"Oh yeah! I wonder how long it took to put it up?" It was Yoosung who said that.
"It took about two weeks for it to be up and running. If you'd like, I can ask them the exact time." Jumin exaggerated.
"N-No, it's fine, really." Yoosung waved him off.
Honestly, you were hoping for something like them talking about who likes who or something like that.
Who were you kidding, even in real life you still ship Zen and Jumin.
You giggled a bit then, there was a moment of silence so you grabbed the doorknob, twisted it and
"Can we please get back to the original conversation?!" Zen yelled angerly, making you freeze.
Seven sighed. "Can we just drop it Zen?" He said seriously.
"Y/n deserves to know!" He yelled again.
"Okay smartass and how do you expect me to explain this to her?!" You took a step back from his sudden outburst.
"That this was all a lie and that this was all because you were obsessed with getting your freedom!"
"Excuse me?! You all wanted your freedom just as much as I did!"
"But did it have to be this way?" Yoosung said in a disheartened tone.
"Look, let's just be happy that since V is in the loony hut the contract of him owning us is nulled." seven spat.
Contract? Owning them? Isn't that illegal or something. What's he talking about?
You slowly let go of the doorknob; not making a noise.
"I'm fine with that but...I don't think that tricking and lying to Y/n was not our best option." Jumin spoke up.
"It was our only option. And so what, it's her fault for randomly trusting a stranger." Seven scoffed.
"That's cold!" You could hear the anger in Zens voice.
"It's the truth! I gave the option of meeting me to a bunch of other people! And she was the only half-wit who went along with it!"
"Seven!" Yoosung tried to defend.
"Don't ever talk about Y/n like that." Zen hissed at him.
"Or you'll do what." Seven dared.
"Now now you two." The sound of a chair moving before Jumin said that was heard. He probably stood up trying to break them up.
"Why are you so heartless when it comes to Y/n?" Zen asked still baffled by his so-called friend's attitude.
"Because we won't be seeing her again after this week like we said before. Remember, we said that if everything worked out, we would leave this place and start over. New year, new life."
"But what about Y/n." Yoosung's voice was noticeably sad.
"And that's exactly why I didn't want to get close to her." He muttered loud enough for them to hear him.
"We risked her life!"
"Yeah and now she can live a normal one without us."
The room went quiet.
"That is true..." Jumin felt so many mix emotions and didn't know what to make of the situation.
"But...I really liked hanging out with her. She's so much fun and-"
"Just a tool to get what you want. Admit it Yoosung. *Sighs* you know what guys, let's not talk about this now cause she's probably on her way here right now."
"I just can't wrap my head around the fact that you're so cold towards her." Zen was emotionally exhausted.
"Oh please, she could disappear for all I care."
Crash! Went everything you were carrying to the ground.
Everyone in the room jumped hearing the sudden noise. Zen was the first to react and go to the door and open it only to see a bunch of presents on the floor.
Huh?
He looked at the ground and saw a bunch of presents. He picked one up and read the tag.
To: Zenny
From: Y/n
His eyes went wide.
N-No...
He put it down and went out into the hallway only to catch a glimpse of you turning the corner.
"Y/n!" He shouted as he started his way out
"Y/n?" Saeyoung thought with his eyes wide.
"Y/n!!!" Zen kept calling out but he was too late to catch the elevator you got in.
Damn!!
He cursed to himself and quickly rushed to the stairs.
Adrenaline was pumping through his veins and memories of all the good times you two had were going through his head.
It can't end. Not like this.
He thought as he finally reached the first floor. He saw you getting out your keys and opening your car door.
"Y/N!" He called out one last time. You couldn't help but look in his direction with tear filled eyes. "Please! Just hear me out!" Zen pleaded.
"I think I've heard enough!" You shouted back at him.
"Please Y/n just come back and we can explain everything, I promise."
"Why should I?! So I can hear all those horrible things being said to my face?!" You kept on wiping away stray tears but gave up because you knew it was useless.
"Y/n we didn't mean for it to come out like that-"
"Okay, fine! So tell me, what would have been different zen."
He stayed quiet.
"Tell me!!" You yelled making your voice break at the end.
There was a moment of silence.
"That's what I thought..." You slammed your car door and walked right up to Zen. "I was just a tool for all of you! Just so you could get your so-called 'freedom'?! Well, I guess you all got what you wanted in the end now didn't you?" You sniffled a bit before wiping your tears to get a good look at his face of pure regret.
"Please Y/n. D-Don't go.." He reached out as if to caress your cheek but you slapped away his hand.
"You guys just gave me a million reasons to leave and let you guys go, but I'll give you a chance to give me 1 good one to stay."
"Because I love you Y/n!" He blurted out. You stood there with your eyes wide.
So it was true...
You looked at him and he was 100% sure of what he just said but you shook your head slightly and responded.
"I'm sorry Zen, but that's still not a good enough reason. Goodbye." You turned around and started walking back to your car.
"Y/n please we can-" He grabbed your wrist.
"Let me go Zen!" You yelled without looking at him. His very soul shattered hearing you say that to him. And with a heavy heart, he let go and watched as you go in your car and drove off.
Sorrow and sadness were soon replaced with anger and hatred. He started running back up the stairs taking them two by two and once he reached the office they were in before, he slammed the door open and instantly looked at Seven.
"Are you happy now?! She's gone!!" He yelled at him.
The room fell silent.
Only after a few moments did he respond.
"So. She's really gone." He said in a monotone voice with his head low. Jumin looked pained while Yoosung held his head in his hands, trying to hold back the tears.
"Yeah, she is. And I hope you're happy now you bastard." Zen spat while having tears collecting at the corners of his eyes. "Don't you have anything to say for yourself?!"
Seven didn't respond.
"Hey! I'm talking to you!" He grabbed him by his jacket to make him look at him.
Zen grabbed him by the collar of his jacket and was shocked to see tears rolling down his eyes.
"Why?" He said to him. "Why are you crying?! This was your fault in the first place!" He threw him back into his chair. Then realization struck him.
"You loved her. Didn't you." Seven flinched and then looked at Zen dead in the eyes.
"Oh please. I know you fell for her too-you all did!!" He stood up and started pointing an accusing finger at everyone.
"You know sometimes I would think I couldn't understand you but this just takes the cake. Why? Why! I just don't understand why you would do something so idiotic to someone you fell in love with!-"
"Because I thought she would be better off without us alright!!!" Once again the room fell silent.
Yoosung got up and walked over to the things you left on the floor. Carefully, he picked up the one that said
To: Yoosung
From: Y/n!
Unwrapping it, he found a customized mouse pad with a yellow star. Along with it came cookbook that was written by you with all of the recipes he loved. And lastly a keychain with a yellow star.
"She cared for us." He muttered while hugging his present.
"What?" Zen said.
"She cared for us. And we pushed her away." Yoosung started picking up the rest of the gifts and gave them to each one. Zen was the first to open his.
It was a silver mirror that miraculously survived the fall and a nice backpack for his rehearsals or when he went out and a keychain with a white star.
Next was Jumin. He had a box with ties for each day of the week, there was also some nice cuff buttons and a blue keychain.
Lastly was Seven.
It was new customized red headphones with the number 707 on the sides. There was also a picture frame with the picture from that day you all went bowling and finally a red key chain.
And apart from it all, there was a small box. He opened it carefully and found a plain silver ring. He looked at it closer and notice there was something engraved on it.
'07/08/17'
The day you two met.
"Seven, just know that now you have to live with the pain of pushing Y/n away from all of us." Zen said while taking his things and leaving the office.
"I'm just gonna go guys." Yoosung said with his head low and walked out as well.
"Seven, get out of my office." Jumin said in a serious tone without looking at him. Without another word, he did as he was told and left.
Seven exited the building and walked over to his car and got in.
This was the right choice.
She hates us now so...
She won't come back, and she can live a normal life without us.
Without me.
Seven laid his head back on the headrest and started remembering all the good times you had together.
The jokes.
The calls.
Midnight Messages.
Everything.
I did this for her. So she can be happy.
The tears started to fall down his cheeks.
But why can't I be happy?
