Chapter 3: Yoosung
You slowly got up from your bed and instantly felt yourself shiver.
Why is it so damn cold!
You thought as you wrapped yourself up like a burrito.
"Y/n?" Nathan said as he walked into your room.
"Yeah?"
"If you don't get up, you'll be lat- are you, okay?" He walked up to you and placed his hand on your forehead. "Y/n, you're burning up." He looked at you with worried filled eyes.
"It's nothing." You shooed him off. "I have to turn in an important project today and I have to do my homework with Yoosung." You said with somewhat of a stuffy nose. You took off your covers and started getting off your bed.
"You can't go out like this, you're sick Y/n." He objected in a firm tone. You sighed knowing that he wasn't going to change his mind.
"Fine, I'll stay." You lay back in bed and Nathan sighed.
"Just rest up and I'll try to come back as early as I can from work." He patted your head and headed out. Once you heard the car motor run, you shot up from your bed, ignoring the cold you felt and got ready to head out. You quickly ate breakfast and took a pill and instantly you received a call.
"Hello?" You answered as normally as you could.
"Y/n? Are you okay? You sound a bit off..." He asked, worried about you.
"Yeah, I'm fine Yoosung, no need to worry!" You said in a happy tone. Yoosung wasn't completely convinced but let it slide for now. "I'm going to be late! see you in class!" You quickly hung up and got your things and left your apartment.
-
"Hey." You said as you took a seat next to him.
"Hey Y/n, are you okay?..." He asked seeing you so bundled up even if it's not that cold outside.
"Yeah, I'm-" You interrupted yourself by coughing.
"Y/n-"
"I'm fine Yoosung, really." You gave him a weak smile.
"Alright class, today we'll be talking about..." The class went on and you tried your very best to stay awake and thankfully it ended a few minutes early and you all got to leave.
"Let's head over to my car." Yoosung said as he guided you to the parking lot.
"You have a car??" You asked astonished by this new information.
"haha yeah...I sometimes have weekend jobs and saved up the money to buy a car." He said with a smile, proud of what he accomplished.
"Then let's get going!" You said happily at the thought of not having to walk. "So why did you bring your car if your place isn't that far?" You asked.
"Oh, hehe, I thought I was going to be late so I dove here." You watched as he turned on the car and started pulling out of the parking lot.
the car ride there was quiet and quick. Yoosung parked his car and unlocked the door for you. You two walked over to the elevator and reached the 5th floor to his apartment.
"Make yourself at home." He said while letting you in.
"Thanks." Was all you said as you looked around at the decoration which was similar to the one he had before.
"Why don't we work at the coffee table, that one that's in front of the couch." He said while pointing. "It'll be more comfortable." You nodded in agreement and noticed that Yoosung looked a bit taller.
Has it really been that long?
You both took a seat on the couch and laid out the material needed on the coffee table.
"Let's get started."
-
"I'm glad that's over." You said with a sigh. After working for about 3 hours, Yoosung was sitting on the floor since it was more comfortable for him, and you sat on the couch next to him. You could feel the fever coming back and when you looked for the pills, you noticed that you had forgotten to pack more.
"Yeah, by the way, Y/n..." Yoosung quickly reached over to you and placed a hand on your forehead. "I knew it! You're running a fever." You sighed, feeling your energy slowly fading away.
"Yeah..." Was all you could say. "Do you have any fever pills?"
"Yeah, just hang on a second." Yoosung got up and went to the bathroom to get the pills and then to the kitchen for a cup of water. "Here." He handed you the pill and water. "Although these might make you a bit drowsy." He warned. You nodded and quickly took it.
Yoosung then went to his kitchen and started making who knows what. You didn't pay much attention to what he was doing because you were trying your best to just stay awake.
Soon, Yoosung was back and placed a small bowl on the coffee table.
"Eat some, it'll help you." He said. You nodded and scooted closer to take a few sips from the bowl.
Chicken noodle soup?
"It's really good Yoosung." You complimented while taking another sip.
"That's good to hear. Your instructions were pretty clear and easy to understand." He said with a smile. You tilted your head to the side in confusion.
"My instructions?" Yoosung quickly went back to the kitchen to get something and then back to hand it over to you. You raised your eyebrows in surprise.
"This is the cookbook I gave you..." You said while flipping through the pages that were slightly worn out, only to see your crummy handwriting and descriptive drawings.
"Yup, it really saved me when I wouldn't know what to cook." He looked at you with his innocent smile. You put it back down on the table and ate as much as you could from the bowl.
"Thanks, Yoosung." You said after having your fill.
After a few minutes, you lay down on the couch feeling tired. Yoosung got a blanket from his room and covered you. Then he returned to the same spot on the floor next to you.
It was quiet as Yoosung organized the things on the table until you spoke up again. "So, how have you been Yoosung?" You asked suddenly.
"Huh? what do you mean?"
"I mean...since, well, you know..." You felt your forehead burn and huddled yourself closer to keep warm. Your head felt hazy and for some reason, all the memories you had buried deep in your mind started coming back along with everything you wanted to say before started popping up.
"Oh..." Yoosung never looked at you as he thought about what to say. "Well, after that, I got a bit depressed and didn't feel like going to classes anymore so I missed a few. Once I came back to my senses, I went back and tried my very best in class." He looked down at his hands as he kept talking. "I was....really sad when you left. It wasn't the right way to end it all. I missed you a lot Y/n. Everyone did. When you left, it felt like something important in our lives just... disappeared..."
"I...didn't know what to do..." You spoke up. "When I found out that I was being used...It was terrible, like everything we all went through was a lie."
"We didn't mean to do any of this. We were cornered Y/n..."
"It would have been different if you guys would have told me what was going on, maybe I could have helped you." You felt the tears start to sting your eyes. "And the worst part was that even after all that we went through, you all were planning to leave me behind..."
"We thought it would be worse if we stayed..."
"I... didn't want you guys to abandon me.." You sniffled as you tried to wipe away the tears with the blanket. "So apparently my best idea was that I should leave before you guys would disappear." Yoosung turned around and looked at you with guilt seeing you cry.
"This time will be different Y/n." He reassured as he wiped away your tears but he could also feel the tears stinging his own eyes.
"Then, please...promise me that this time you won't lie to me." You couldn't help it, the fever made you talk and feel worse, everything that was weighing on your mind about them was coming out. Yoosung reached over and hugged you to comfort you and so you wouldn't see him shed a few tears too.
"I promise I won't ever keep a secret from you, I'll be completely honest."
"Thanks, Yoosung." You felt yourself slowly fall into darkness and into a deep sleep. Yoosung slowly moved out of your grasp so you could lay comfortably on the couch and fixed the blankets so you wouldn't feel cold.
Yoosung finished picking everything up and even put away your things but then he heard your phone ring.
He walked over to the other end of the table where your phone was and read the caller ID.
It was Nathan.
Yoosung sighed and picked up.
"Hello?" He answered.
"Hello? Who's this?" Nathan started getting worried.
"It's yoosung, Y/n fell asleep on my couch because of her fever." Nathan sighed in relief with a bit of frustration mix in.
"That girl...Thanks for keeping her safe, I'll go pick her up, can you send me your address?"
"Yeah, sure." Yoosung hung up and sent the address via text. Nathan replied saying that he would be there in 5 minutes. Yoosung started getting your things ready and decided to carry you out princess style down to the first floor.
Once Nathan arrived in his car he quickly walked out and opened the door for Yoosung to place you in the car seat.
"Hey um, thanks again for keeping her at your place, she's really stubborn and apparently decided to got out on her own even though she was sick." Nathan sighed.
"It's no problem." Was all Yoosung managed to say.
"Nice seeing you again Yoosung." Nathan said.
"Yeah." Nathan reached his hand out to him.
"See you around." Yoosung was surprised by his action thinking that Nathan probably hated him.
He gave a side smile and shook his hand.
"Yeah, see you around."
