Chapter Eighteen

James

"Can we discuss the facts now?" Jace asked drumming his fingers on the wooden surface of the table. "I am bored here." He yawned.

"Shut up now, will you?" I snapped and looked back at Drake. "Yeah, so what were you saying?"

"It was just before your arrival," Drake paused looking at Jace, "I got a vision of something bad. It's like something really vicious is going to take place."

"Vision?" Jace raised an eyebrow, "Interesting."

"Since when did you start getting visions?" I frowned ignoring Jace's interruptions. It was never heard that werewolves were able to have visions of what was ahead to come after what happened to Romero, son of Ophelia, the Moon Goddess. Even though it was impossible, lately, Drake has been breaking all the rules set by the Moon Goddess herself.

"A couple of days," he sighed, "I'm just tensed about our pack."

This was not new and partly I was aware of Drake's uneasiness about the entire thing. I clearly remember him coming up to my office late at night, tired, trying to figure out the unclear messages written in the book of myths.

"Nothing is going to happen to our pack, come on, don't get pessimistic views of the future. It's worthless wasting time trying to think of the factors that could possibly go wrong, instead, we should try to figure out what is actually going on." I explained. I still couldn't understand what was actually going on with Drake. But I knew it for sure, he was trying to hide something.

"Wow, what a great speech," Jace clapped, "I'm impressed."

"Will you stop it?" I snapped once again. His presence was making it impossible for me to keep a calm composure when I knew he was behind my back, ready with a dagger, to attack.

"Stop being grumpy." He huffed, "I wonder how you managed to control this pack for three years."

"What did you say?" I glared at him.

"Oh!" His face lightened up, "Now I get it." He pointed a finger at me, "You haven't been able to take care of this pack as an Alpha and," he paused, looking up at the ceiling, "That's why I was called." He flashed a toothy grin.

What the fuck is wrong with him? - I mind-linked Drake.

Dude! Stop reacting, he's doing it on purpose. - He replied, I turned my head to face Drake, his expression was rather expected, for he was glaring at me.

"Stop it." He mouthed silently.

"Jace, grow up." I rolled my eyes.

"I am a full-grown man, twenty-six, exactly five years older than you." Jace smiled.

It doesn't seem so. - Drake snorted.

If only Jace could hear what Drake just said behind his back, well in front of him actually.

My gaze shifted towards the girl who was seated right next to him. She held a blank unwelcoming expression which to me was unacceptable. Her looks were rather different, she had purple coloured eyes. It was rare to come across any werewolf to be blessed with purple coloured eyes especially while in the human form.

We werewolves in the human form looked like any other ordinary human. Only those with the ability to detect spiritual energy could differentiate between an ordinary human and a werewolf, for we were the ones with a stronger aura. Even though shapeshifters were said to be adaptable to any sort of demonic aura, I could care less because their species were considered to be extinct. They haven't been seen for at least three hundred years now.

"Jace," Drake suddenly asked, "Do you have any idea about the sudden changes in the book of myths?"

"Actually, no," he sighed. "But for the last three years, the prophecies have been changing a lot."

"How do you know that?" I asked. Every pack had their own copy of the book but as much as I was aware, Jace didn't belong to any.

"I don't see any reason to answer every single question of yours." He snarled.

"I'm your Alpha," I growled.

"The last time I checked you were not my Alpha." He laughed, "You can't be because I'm not a member of your pack."

"Both of you just shut the fuck up!" Drake shouted slamming his palms against the table. "If you guys keep on fighting yourselves, then we will never be able to figure out a solution for the arising problems."

"There are no problems." Jace snorted, "You're just creating one yourself."

"What do you mean?" Drake frowned.

"It's as simple as it can be. You're thinking that there is a problem while there is not, so simply it's just a negative thought you're building up inside yourself." Jace stated, as a matter of fact, looking at Drake.

No hate but your brother is a douche. - Drake mind linked me.

Seriously Drake? Out of all the abusive things to say you could only come up with the word douche?

He's an ass. -He whined.

Finally, you came to your senses. I couldn't agree more.

"I think we should end the discussion here for today." I finally said, not liking the heavy atmosphere of hatred surrounding us.

"Let's go." Jace chirped, pulling Lucy up from her seat and walking out the door.

As soon as both of them walked out I looked at Drake.

"What was all that about?" I demanded. I needed a clear answer. I wasn't liking the way they were acting around me. "What are you trying to hide from me, Drake?"

"I am just worried." He sighed and looked away.

"Tell me what's bothering you."

"I'm just worried about the pack." He whispered, avoiding any sort of eye contact.

"There is nothing to worry about," I assured him.

"Yes." He whispered, "But I'm more worried about you, James." He uttered almost inaudibly under his breath and walked out before I could question him any further.

Meanwhile
Alina

"Alina!" Luke along with Neil burst in through the door. I jolted up at the sudden fraction of noise.

"What's wrong?" I yawned, rubbing my eyes and sat up on the bed.

"I'm sorry for disturbing your sleep." He sighed, "But it's important."

"What is it?" I glared. "This must be important, if not then be ready to dig your grave."

"I know this is not possible but I can't-I just think of anything other than this. You know I went through this a lot of times to point myself wrong, but, no other meaning was there for me to convince myself. It didn't have a contradictory meaning behind itself. It had to-" Luke continued.

"What the fuck are you talking about?" I interrupted in the middle of his rant.

"I'm sorry," He whispered.

"What's going on Neil?" I asked totally ignoring Luke.

"Luke here is a bit hyped up right now." He said pointing at him, "Even though the news itself is kind of threatening."

"Can you just cut the crap and tell me what is actually going on?" I snapped. They both nodded and looked down at the tiled floor, guiltiness radiating clearly.

"We were going through the Book of Myths and.." Luke trailed off.

"And what?"

"We came across a part which we think indicates you." Neil completed the sentence on behalf of Luke.

I stared at both of them in disbelief.

"Wait, I'll bring the book," Neil said rushing out of the room in a blink of an eye.

"What's going on Luke?" I asked. He was standing near my bed looking at the empty doorway waiting for Neil to arrive.

"You'll see."

In a matter of seconds, Neil appeared with the book in his hand. "Here you go." He said handing the book to Luke.

Luke hastily flipped through some pages before a loud gasp escaped his lips.

"This can't be possible." He whispered, looking at the book, his hand trembling.

"What happened?" Neil asked looking at the book.

"It's blank." They both said in unison.

I raised an eyebrow, "Blank?"

"Trust me Alina there was something written about you." Luke repeated, "You tell her Neil."

Neil nodded, "Yes, Alina he is right."

"What was written?"

"Seek guidance from those
With untainted souls
Skin as snow
A rare breed below."
