Chapter 2

Amy

I finally reached the school, having to walk because my brother took the car. It was a nice campus, if not a large one. Different from what I remember though. It seemed smaller, probably because I've grown up a bit, with a lot more kids running around, also probably because I've grown up and am now a junior.

Upon actually entering the school, I noticed a peculiar group of boys. The "peculiar" part being attributed to the fact that my brother was there and they seemed to be hanging out with him. I debated walking up to them until I saw the blue one making stupid faces at my brother. Yeah, I'm staying away now. Far away. I don't need the trouble of being seen with a group of guys. Or my brother. I love him, but he's a dork.

Continuing my walk while looking for the office, I hear a high pitched squeal from behind me. I whip my head around and locate the assaulting sound and see a rabbit barreling towards me through the crowd. Two people follow, hot on her heels.

The rabbit is heavier than I expect when she crashes into me, though not heavy enough to knock me to the ground. The other two would be, though, luckily they have enough sense not to cause a greater scene than they already have. The rabbit is talking a mile a minute and I finally realize the voice is familiar, as are the faces of two girls that followed her.

"Oh my gods, Cream!" I say, my eyes widening in surprise. "Blaze, Rouge, is that you guys too?"

Cream let's go and I can finally take them all in. Cream is still small, though the height gap is getting smaller. Rouge has filled out a lot since the last time I saw her. And finally, Blaze still has that spark of fire in her eyes. My best friends from childhood.

They respond to my question with a chorus of yes's and giggles. Blaze and Rouge finally get a chance to hug me and Cream wants another one. I haven't seen them in person since last Christmas because of my being at a boarding school. I was eight when I left for that damn school, going into the early prep program that they have for kids before they're in high school. Then, my parents passed away the next year. My brother went to go live with Cream's mom, Vanilla, until he turned eighteen and I stayed at school, only coming home on holidays.

Blaze brings me out of my thoughts with a question.

"So what classes do you have?"

"I don't know. I was on my way to get my schedule when I was assaulted by a fluffy bunny monster," I say. Cream laughs and takes my arm in hers.

"Well then let's get moving! I want to know if we have any classes together!"  She starts to drag me to the office, Rouge and Blaze laughing and pushing from behind.

Once we arrive, the giggles die down enough for me to be able to have a conversation with the secretary, a maned wolf, at the front desk.

"What's your name and your need dear?" she asks, voice as sweet as the candy on her desk and the sucker in her mouth.

"Amelia C. Rose, ma'am. And I need my schedule. I'm the transfer student," I tell her.

The sectary looks up from her computer to really look at me for the first time. "Rose, huh? Is Silvino your brother?" she asks. I nod to confirm her guess. She smiles, soft and sincere, at the computer as she prints my schedule. "You laugh like he does. It's nice."

Her gaze meets mine and I smile back at her. "Thank you." Then I add, "For the compliment and my schedule."

Then, another student enters the office and the world starts spinning a bit faster again. I smile once more before heading out the door with my friends.

.oOo.

"So, what classes do you have?" Blaze asks impatiently as we go down the main hall.

I look down at the paper and start reading. "First period precalc, second period AP Government, third period is English 3, fourth period is mandatory financial literacy and then a college prep class the second semester, fifth is my lunch period, sixth I have bio 2, seventh is college chemistry, then finally, eighth is Latin 3." I look back up at them.

"I'll probably leave after my lunch period. My old school is probably ahead of where you guys are at anyway." I put the schedule in my purse for latter references.

Cream's voice reaches my ears. "Holy crow, that's a lot. I have fourth period with you though! And you, Blaze, and Rouge have sixth and third together and Blaze has first period with you as well."

The corner of our eyes crinkle as we smile at one another. We haven't had classes with one another since third grade, the year before I moved away.

The first bell rings a warning and we part ways, Cream rushing off because she still has to go to her locker and then across campus, and Rouge hugging me one last time before lightly threatening Blaze to make sure I get to my next class. We both snicker as we watch her swagger away, knowing she has good intentions that aren't always portrayed the way she means them to be.

Blaze walks me to my locker, three down from hers, and helps me figure out the lock. Apparently, this is the slightly broken locker; you need to jiggle the handle a little after you dial in the numbers for it to work.

Once I get the hang of it, Blaze and I hurry down the hall to our classroom. We make it with about a minute left and I go up to the teacher, a pretty chinchilla, and ask for any work that needs to be turned in and where I should sit.

She tells me her name is Ms. Olor and smiles at me. Ms. Olor let's me chose an open seat and exempts me from any assignments until Monday, to make sure I know the material and can get used to her teaching style.

The late bell rang while we were conversing, so once I take my seat, a few desks over from Blaze, she begins the morning video announcements and then class.

.oOo.

Fifty minutes later, the bell sounds and the students move in a melancholy mass to their next classes.

I take my time arranging my binder in a semi-decent manner that I can fix later if I really think about it. Blaze walks up to my desk as I'm finishing up.

"We have five minutes between each class because of how big the campus is. Government isn't that far away though, so it'll give us more than enough time for me to show you where the bathrooms are." She flicks one of my quills over my shoulder. I smile at her. Blaze has always been level headed and I think it's one of the reasons we're so close. I love Cream and Rouge, but they were always two extremes, and Blaze was a calm, quiet force that always seemed to be there when I had trouble handling them. Like her power, she has the calm, warming effect of a fire in the hearth. But sometimes, when she joins in with them, she has the snap-crackle-pop of a bonfire.

We walk out of the class room and my nose is hit with an onslaught of perfume and an underlying scent that I faintly recognize. Then, I see them. A mongoose, a chipmunk, and a robotic rabbit. The chipmunk glances at me as they pass and our eyes meet. She looks as though she's going to say something, but instead keeps walking with her friends. When she think she's out of earshot, she whispers to the mongoose, "Think that's her?"

The mongoose quickly looks back at us and then to her friend. "Don't know. No one has seen her before so it's hard to tell."

I don't hear the rest of the conversation because now they are out of earshot and Blaze has started talking.

"Honestly, those three take up the whole hallway when they walk like that and it's so annoying." Then, under her breath, "And they walk so slow."

I laugh at her last comment, the girls quickly forgotten. I'm sure I'll see them again anyway. We go to the same school after all.

Blaze leads me to the left in the opposite direction of the group and takes me to the bathrooms. They're actually pretty nice. All the stalls have doors, no graffiti, and they don't smell.

**stopped editing here. Awkward spot and doesn't make sense. Sorry!! Just pretend they left the bathroom and are back in the hallway**

"There you are Ames!" said Rouge excitedly. "We have to get to English. Everyone practically does nothing the entire period!" I said goodbye to Blaze and went to my class with Rouge.

.oOo.

Rouge was right. We did nothing! I saw Cream running towards me and knew what she was going to say. She then says what I thought she would say.

"Hey Ames, ready for science? We're reading about the wind, again." she said the last part in an exasperated tone.

"Sure I guess, but I'm leaving afterwords." I tell her. "Ok." she replies and we are off to the last class for the day. Well for me that is...

////////////after class////////////

"Well, see you Cream." I said as I waved bye. I then headed home.

When I got home I went to the couch and took a nap.

----------------•after nap•-------------

I woke up to a slight shaking motion on my arm and a voice saying, "Ames wake up there's going to be people over soon." It cooed. I then realized that cooing was my bro and shot up.

"What do you mean 'people over soon'?" I ask confused. "Some friends are coming over to meet you." he stated simply.

"Ok , let me get up." I say. He backs away from the couch and I let out a big yawn and stretch. I went to the bathroom and brushed my long curly quills. I guess I didn't realize how long I had been brushing until my bro called me.

*Shadows pov *

Sonic, Knuckles, Tails, Blaze, Rouge, Cream, Maria (she came too because she's Silvers friend), and I were waiting in front of Silvers mansion. The door opened and Silver let us in. "As you know I have a new house guest with me." he said. "Sis would you come down. The people are here."

"Coming," said a beautiful voice. Just like in my dreams. A door opens and a beautiful hedgehog steps out. She looks exactly like the girl in my dreams.

"Hello." she said to all of us. "I'm Amy Rose. Silver's sister."
