The Disappearance

Chapter 8

Matt's POV

"COME AND GET ME, YOU SWEATY FURSUITS!" A voice yells as I hear quick and small footsteps rushing by the door and the animatronics. I can hear the gears and metal creaks as they slowly, but surely, chase after the person who just called them 'sweaty fursuits'. I chuckle under my breath, before opening the door and start running towards the office, feeling hopeful that whoever it was, that they survive from them. I hear something coming from there, getting louder as I close the space.

"Oh no, you can't stand up to these animaltronics..." The radio-like voice echoes in the slightly empty room, except for me and Mark. Wait, something's not right. He looks up from the phone and sees me, mouth gaping.

"Matt?" Mark says, voice raspy-like but it's his normal voice. "Where's Jack?" "Wish I knew, Mark." I reply. "I was trapped in a small room, surrounded by animatronics. Maybe he had to go?"

"Dude, even if he had to go. He could've done it in the corner." He says, pointing to the far end of the office, with a bucket and a few rolls of toilet paper in a corner. "Right." I agree. It makes sense if Jack needs to go, but why leave the office, or disappear off the face of earth? It makes no sense. The time says 4:00, yet it feels slower. A scream rang out somewhere in the darkness.

"Jack!" Mark yell, ready to leave the office. "Matt, you stay here. I need to-" Chica and Bonnie blocking the doorway, we close the doors on our ends. "Mark," I reason with him. "Look, we're surrounded. We can't leave until they do or it's 6AM. But Mark, Jack saved me. I was trapped out there, Brett left because I told him to. Jack, I amusing it's Jack, saved me by calling them 'sweaty fursuits'." It starts out as a chuckle, eventually growing into laughter. Our hands holding our sides. Some minutes past and we finally calm down. I check the power and it says 20%. Not good. Not good at all. It's 5AM, so we could survive. The walkie-talkie suddenly crackles to life, AJ's voice quiet but clear enough to hear. "Guys? Why am I seeing Jack running around, avoiding the animatronics and yelling 'Come and get me!'?"

I picked it up and answer. "He's like, the distraction. He did save me from them closing in on me, and I was stuck between a rock and a hard place."

"Oh. Okay." I hear shuffling in the background and Nate's voice murmurs. "Oh, I don't like it. Jack might get himself caught." "Hope he doesn't get caught." Mark yells somewhere behind me, directly at Nate and AJ.

Then we hear the most terrified scream. Both outside and walkie-talkies. I wince, wanting to cover my ears. "NO!" I hear him yell, voice echoing off the walls. "LET ME GO! DON'T!" The screams continue, as I glare at the clock, it turn to 6AM. The grandfather clock chimes somewhere and Mark instantly run out of the office to get Jack. I follow after him, ready to get Jack back too. Only to see everyone in the dining room.

And there's no sign of Jack ever being here.

[A/N: Hey guys! Completely off topic of the story, why am I hearing of this game called Oxenfree now? It's amazing so far, watching Jack's let's play of it]
