Chapter Two - Visions And Secrets

Myrkr and Sanguine were in the nicest transport that either had ever seen. Never mind the fact that they've never left the Revak Feykro; from what Myrkr learned, this was better than what normal humans use.

"Hey, Myr," Sanguine interrupted her thoughts. "Wanna act like we're dating?"

Myrkr flicked her golden cheetah ears. "No. And why are you talking like that? 'Wanna' is not a word."

Sanguine shrugged. "I heard other kids saying it, and I guessed they were some of the cool kids." The unspoken reason was clear: in order to be a popular student, you had to not only act like one, but talk like one.

"That better not be permanent, dude."

"It won't be," he agreed. "I don't like the slang either." A brief silence followed.

"Well, the driver or whoever told us this would take a day's travel. I'll see if I can't work my way into a dream." Myrkr got up and headed to the bunk rooms. Then she stopped and tossed her emerald dust bag to Sanguine. "Hold on to that for me, will you? Let no one see into it, not that they would want to since it is completely see-through."

The bunk room Myrkr was assigned to was empty. She had found out that each bunk was customized each trip so the students would feel more welcome, and also so no one would mistake one another's bunks. Beside her own bed, there were three others, two bunk beds per room. She had the bottom left. Her own bunk had a cheetah print comforter and an emerald green pillow, the one above having silvery bedding, the other bottom bunk having black bedding with a huge, white treble clef on it, and the one above that was similar to Myrkr's own, only the comforter was plain golden-brown with a pale green pillow.

Flopping down onto the bed, she thought, Azure Star, we're on our way there. Let me speak with you, and was off to sleep.

With Myrkr gone, Sanguine had to make due with the other Ziixi students. There was a girl who, even with his sense of power, was dressed similar to himself: a scaled jacket, black tee, and jeans, with slits in the jacket and tee. Her hair was silver-white, and the scales on her jacket were silver-blue. Either a diamond dragon or ice dragon. Not that there is much difference between the two, element-wise. Sanguine walked over to the group. "Hi, I'm Sanguine." He held out his hand to the silver girl. She snorted, but shook his hand anyway.

    "Shimmer," was all she said.

A different girl, who Sanguine identified as a dragon of rare breed despite her night dragon look, shook his hand. "Hi, Sanguine! Nice to meet you. My name's Luna. Don't mind Shim, she's always grumpy." Luna let go of his hand. And, as if to prove her point, Shimmer snorted.

"Cedric," said a guy, who shook Sanguine's hand firmly. "Nice to meet you."

Shimmer rolled her eyes. "So when do you plan on telling us you're a fire dragon, Sanguine?" Then she noticed Myrkr's bag on Sanguine's arm. "And what's with the empty handbag there?" she said in a slight sneer.

Cedric answered when Sanguine was about to defend himself. "It's not his. There's a different scent on it, Shim. lay off, okay? Otherwise no one will like you."

"It's okay, really. My friend is in her bunk, sleeping." Sanguine saw something dark in Luna's deep gray eyes. "She wanted some rest before we got to the Ziixi academy."

Luna watched him carefully. "A fire dragon, huh? I haven't met any of those yet."

"I'm actually not a fire dragon, the same way Shimmer isn't a diamond dragon. I'm a ruby dragon, which are part of the Jewel Dragon Clan."

Cedric considered this thoughtfully. "That means you're a rarer breed of fire element dragons."

Sanguine nodded. "Exactly. Very few people I meet know that."

"Azure?" Myrkr asked aloud, hoping the mystic cat would find her.

"Sorry, dear," came a voice behind Myrkr. She spun around, in a fighting stance before she even knew who the voice was. "I am here instead. We don't need any... interruptions." (A/N: A pic is in my OC book.) The lady was similar to Myrkr herself, only more of a cheetah turned human. She had beautiful emerald and gold adornments, including a gold crown with embedded emeralds and blue-green feathers sticking out the top. Her hair was brown and long with blond-gold colored cheetah spots in them, and her eyes were also emerald colored. The way the lady stood told Myrkr she wasn't worried she would be attacked by the young cheetah girl. Myrkr watched the newcomer with narrowed eyes. "Oh, come now. You wouldn't fight your ruler, now would you?"

"I bow to none," Myrkr growled. "Why do you think I would bow to you?"

"I didn't think you would, Myrkr Mkhoal."

"You know my name." Myrkr instinctively reached for her emerald dust bag, only to remember that she gave it to Sanguine. She bore her fangs and narrowed her eyes more, with her tail flicking side to side. "So what do you want?"

"You. But I can't get you now, they will know I am there long before I can even lay eyes on you," the lady said thoughtfully.

"Good luck getting me, then, lady," Myrkr snarled. "You'll need it."

The cheetah lady nodded. "Indeed." With a glance at the gray sky, she sighed. "Our time speaking has come to an end." She turned and started walking away, then looked back over her shoulder with a smirk. "We shall meet again. I do hope in person. Oh, and I rule the Mion Jungle Tribe. Good luck learning about us, young Mkhoal." And with that, the lady vanished in a cloud of green dust, the dream faded, and Myrkr woke up.

Myrkr didn't wake up the same way she went to sleep, that is to say, not alone. She heard others in the room with her, and kept her eyes closed and her breathing even. They seemed to be getting things from their bags, and soon left the room. When Myrkr heard them shut the door, she opened her eyes and got out of bed. That lady... why did she know me? Why does she want me? She definitely wanted to make me curious; otherwise, she never would have given me the name of her Tribe. Still, I should see what I can figure out about Mion, in case she does find a way to get me, as that is without a doubt her intent. Myrkr opened the door and walked over to Sanguine, who seemed to have made a few friends already.

Sanguine noticed Myrkr first. "Hey," was his greeting as he tossed her the dust bag.

"Hi." She slung it over her shoulder, while sizing up the two girls and guy who he seemed to be chatting with. "New friends already, Sanguine?"

"Yeah." He introduced her to each, the guy was named Cedric and the silver girl was Shimmer, and the black clothed girl was Luna. Myrkr recognized their scents from the room she was bunked in, so they all had the same room. That's good, I suppose.

"Myrkr," she said, shaking Cedric's outstretched hand. She nodded to Luna, who nodded back, and Shimmer just snorted. Then she noticed Luna had a strange moonstone pendant on her necklace, with was some sort of small, black, metal chain with golden accents. The pendant itself was an iridescent egg, about the size of a robin's egg, with a black music symbol on it. "Luna, nice moonstone egg pendant. What's that symbol on it? I can't remember the name. Some sort of clef, right?"

Self-consiously, Luna fingered the pendant, then held in her palm, clef face up, and started staring at it. "Yes. It's a treble clef. I value music." Her voice was oddly stiff, and a silence followed. When Myrkr glanced at Sanguine, it looked like he thought so, too. She returned her attention to Sanguine's new friends, and caught Cedric exchanging a glance with Shimmer--the first sign of emotion the silver girl had shown.

Sanguine broke the silence. "You alright, Luna? Something wrong?"

Luna continued to stare at the pendant.

Cedric spoke up for her. "She's fine. It's something with her being a night dragon."

"A night dragon? I thought they were nobles, wherever. Neutral, peace, stuff like that." Gears were turning in Myrkr's mind. There is something special about that pendant and Luna being a night dragon, something unusual. Plus she's going to the Ziixi academy, where they train and teach the recruits? She isn't a normal night dragon. Inwardly, Myrkr sighed. Adding to the things I need to research on my free time: Mion Jungle Tribe, night dragons. And this is still a day's time away from the actual place! Unintentionally, she growled, turning everyone's attention to her. "Sorry," she mumbled.

"Why did you growl?" Cedric asked, to her surprise.

"Nothing."

Sanguine now joined in on the interrogation. "It's not nothing, and you know it."

"Shut up!" she hissed.

Luna looked up from her pendant, into Myrkr's eyes. Her gray eyes were unreadable, and Myrkr was sure her emerald ones were displaying her emotions clear as day, now that her trouble came into the light. "Just tell us what's up, Myr." Luna's voice was gentle and quiet.

"A dream," Myrkr said at last. She hadn't wanted to say anything until she could know a bit more about the cheetah lady, but something compelled her to say something as a truthful answer to Luna.

"Just a dream?"

"N-yes. Stop it!" Myrkr almost let the cat out of the bag, or, in this case, the cheetah out of the bag. She grabbed her head and scrunched up her face. "Get out of my head, Luna!" she hissed.

Luna's eye widdened. "I am sorry, Myrkr." The pressure inside Myrkr left, and she relaxed. "No one has ever noticed like you did, and none certianly reacted as violently as you."

Myrkr groaned, and pinched the bridge of her nose. "It's alright," she said. "I don't like being...controled."

"Oh!" Luna said, jerking up. "It's not mind control. It's--" She cut herself off. Myrkr thought she had seen Luna's eyes flick somewhere, but it was too fast to determine what the night dragon saw. "I'll tell you later. This is too public."

"I think we can wait, then. After all, I can't research anything I want to while stuck on this transport." Myrkr nearly slapped her hand over her mouth, but for the sake of hoping the group dismissed what she said, she didn't.

Sanguine shrugged. "True. I'd like to know about other possible dragon Clans or Tribes and stuff."

Cedric seemed to know that what bothered Myrkr before was something she wanted to research. Sanguine probably thought that she meant instead stuff about the mission. With a mental jolt, Myrkr noticed that Cedric had emerald eyes, and longer K9s than a normal human or humanoid should have. Is he like me? No. The cheetah lady--she said there were others. Surely, if he were one of them, wouldn't she have slipped up and I would know? She sighed again, though inwardly this time. "So Shimmer and Luna, you seem to both be in the same bunk room as me. What a coincedence, hm?"

Luna nodded, her quiet happiness back in her gray eyes, while Shimmer shrugged. "Myr," Luna asked, "do you know who the fourth person is? The beds are all customized, and it looked like yours. A friend, perhaps?"

Myrkr shook her head. "Not a clue." Actually, I have an idea. "The only one I knew before you three is Sanguine here. We didn't exactly grow up with our own kind, not that I have a kind." Cedric took a breath to say something, but he gave no comment. He knows something about Mion, Myrkr thought. Everyone else seemed to miss it.

"Hey, Cedric. What are you then? You said you scented Myr's scent on her bag," Sanguine said.

This seemed to make Cedric uncomfortable. "A lycanthrope," he murmured. "Sanguine, do you know who's in our bunk with us?" he asked, changing the subject.
"You guys share rooms?'' Myrkr asked, surprised. "No way."

"Yeah." Sanguine looked at Cedric. "Cedric and I share our bunkroom, with two other guys. Though, no, I don't know anyone, like Myr."

Cedric shrugged, looking more relaxed already. "This ride sure is long, huh?"

"You can say that again, dude," Myrkr agreed. "It can't be too long, now, can it?"

"Well..." Sanguine scratched his neck. "You were only asleep for probably half an hour at most."

"Are you kidding me? Damnit!"
