I was scared glancing at the confidence Diya had towards Mr. Oberoi. I was frightened about the consequences! She wasn't the girl to hold that level of trust in strangers. She acted with caution. She took her time and yet she was acting impulsive on the matter of the most dangerous human.
I was trapped! I didn't knew the way out. I didn't only had to bring Riddhi out of the monsters trap but Diya was also walking into his cave. I had to do something but what?
I was staring out at the sky. I had found myself back in the garden. It came after lots of plead from my side followed by Diya's request. Much to my surprise, she had managed to convince Mr. Oberoi. Only with the demand that Ronald was going to be by side.
Ronald had much decency as he allowed me with space. I kept staring at the dark sky, those stars glittering in darkness. I was trying to find hope in those dark sky.
"Would you mind if I accompanying you?" Ronald asked after maybe hours flying by. I could feel the coldness in the air, the sky were turning darker. The people around the garden had disappeared and there was no a sign of human figure.
"You can leave if you want, I will spend some more time." I mumbled not sparing a glance at him.
"Can I grab a seat beside you, if you don't mind?" He persisted.
"I am not in need of your company," I groaned in defend.
"But I want to provide you one," his tone softening. His black orbs were almost pleading with me to listen.
I sighed as I gave a slight nod. We sat there, staring at the dark-wide sky. Not a word exchanged among us just silence yet I felt a hint of peace as if his presence made a change.
As a yawn escaped from me, I gave in. I stood from the bench. He stared at me with his curious gaze. I ignored his presence as I started walking towards the building. He didn't express a word as he started following me, keeping his distance.
He had never invaded my personal space. I was stunned when he asked if he could sit beside me. He usually kept distance between us. I frowned, having an urge to inquire but shoving it off as he would decide not to answer it.
We kept moving in those vacant corridors, people had gone back to their respective rooms. I didn't had phone nor watch to glance at the time. But the atmosphere around me indicated that it was mid-night.
As we were on the verge of getting into the lift, a person moved out of it. A very familiar handsome face but I didn't adore the aura around him. He gave those bad vibes, the same radiated out of Mr. Oberoi. I had a hard time trusting humans in general.
He was a mess would be understatement. I had glanced at him twice and during each period, he was well-mannered and well-dressed. But the person standing before me seemed mess. His heavily branded clothes were out of place. Coat missing from his professional attire. The navy blue shirt had rolled out of his black pant. His lie on the verge of landing on the floor. Those blood-short eyes felt as if he was hungry for someone's blood. The smell of alcohol coming from his body further confirmed he wasn't in a condition to behave.
Those marks under his eyes and lips were indicators of the torture he had undergone. Someone had badly damaged his handsome face. The minute his hazel blue orbs glanced in my direction, he roared like a lion and was on the verge of pouching on me but Ronald acted fast and dragged him away.
Ronald stood before me and him, his big figure in front of me was making it impossible to glance at Dev.
"Behave yourself, don't forget who she is..." I could hear serious warning in his tone.
"She deserves it," Dev was fuming in rage. "She had destroyed our life. She had destroyed our family!"
"She hadn't destroyed anyone," Ronald stood in my support. "Your ego, pride had destroyed you and your family. You should go and question your beloved father about his deeds rather than fighting here with us."
"I won't come under her lies," he groaned. "She is doing it to grab some money from us. She is aware about the reputation our family hold in the country. She is doing this so we will come under her trap. That won't happen!" He was attempting to glance at me but Ronald stood before me like a sheild.
"You conditions prove that you're aware about the truth. You build the courage and even attempted to question about it to your dear father and his answer is before our eyes." Dev hissed in anger at Ronald's comment. "And thanks to your beloved sister, we have the camera rolling at every corner, they wouldn't mind displaying your state and putting a huge headline under it. At least they will be offered with the next breaking news?" Sarcasm was dipping from Ronald's tone. I won't lie, I was really impressed with the way Ronald handled the situation.
Dev without wasting a second rushed out of our sight, Ronald turned as he bowed and asked me to get inside the lift. He had the power to drag me inside yet he opted to respect me. Though his physical appearance defined him as a dangerous human but he had acted like a gentleman towards me.
He was revolving around me despite of my constant disapproval yet he was just completing the duty given to him by his boss. We got inside the elevator as he pressed my floor digit. Silence prevailed around us and I felt to fill in with some conversation.
I was never interested in making small talks yet I was interested to know about him. I wanted to know about the world, I was stepping in.
"For how long had you worked for Mr. Oberoi?" I asked not glancing at him.
I could feel his gaze on me before he decided to answer my question. "I was born in this world," he groaned. I wasn't sure if it was in displeasure or pride.
"Born in this world?" I inquired, my orbs glancing at him for an explanation.
"Underground world," he mumbled. "You might have guessed it by now, we do illegal things." He shrugged it off as if it meant nothing to him.
"Don't you feel an ouch of guilt for killing those innocent people?"
"I can assure you one thing," he pressed. "Our boss had not for once killed innocent person." His orbs had the confidence in his word.
I shook my head, he was lying on my face. I was on verge of inquiring why he killed his wife but I sealed my tongue. I couldn't afford him knowing that I knew about the truth. About the real mother of Riddhi.
The tink sound eliminating from the speaker indicated that we had arrived on the floor. I got out of the elevator and rushed into my room.

"How long had you being with her?" I inquired glancing at Riddhi's nanny. She seemed young but not much, she pressed a sweet smile in my direction.
"For almost three years," she responded a smile still placed on her lips.
"Her mother died three years back?"
The Nanny shook her head, "she died while giving birth to Riddhi. There was another nanny before me. Her old age didn't provide her with the strength to look after Riddhi's needs so Mr. Oberoi appointed me." I gave a slight nod as I glanced at Riddhi. I felt the urge to keep an eye on her. I still felt the need to protect her from the danger.
Riddhi was enjoying her time with people of her age. Diya was helping her to make some friends. Riddhi's nervous black orbs kept glancing at my direction, as if assuring herself that she was safe.
"She had developed a huge likeness towards you," Nanny muttered as she smiled at me. "I had being with her for years and during that period I had realised that it takes her time to be comfortable around strangers." She paused for a minute longer, "did you knew Mr. Oberoi from before?"
"I don't..."
"Than why did he announced to the world that you're his wife?" She was staring at me in confusion. "I am sorry..." She apologized, the minute she realised her mistake. "I should've..." She stammered in nervousness, her beautiful set of orbs were staring at me with fright. "I didn't meant to interrupt in your world," she had lowered her head in fear. "I shouldn't have, I really forgot my place."
"Shh," I kept a hand on her shoulder. "You need to calm down," I masked a smile at her nervous face. "You hadn't committed any crime, just take a deep breath."
"You won't mention it to the boss?" Fear was visible in her orbs. "There is a rule in the contact. The staff couldn't be interested in the owners personal life. If they are found talking or spreading rumours, they would be punished. Boss hates if people comment on his personal life or choices."
"Why?" I stared at her in curiosity. This was the first time someone closed to Mr. Oberoi's world was providing information and I wanted to take it in.
She scanned the garden before averting her gaze back to me. She leaned towards me as if whispering in my ears. "Buba says it's due to his past," she shrugged her shoulder.
"Buba?"
"Nanny that looked after Riddhi before me and also the person who had seen Mr Oberoi growing up," she smiled. "She is a very beautiful human. The only human in the Oberoi mansion." She muttered extra softly, "I wouldn't have being able to survive during my initial day if she wasn't there. She was the support I leaned on my bad days," she whispered as tears accumulated in her orbs at the slight mention of those days.
"Mr. Oberoi is very particular about his things, he treasures it. Riddhi is someone I would consider very close to him. He never appreciated slightest disobedience when it's about her. Maybe that is the reason that despite his arrogance, rude nature, the angel still finds home in him."
At that exact moment I glanced at Riddhi to find her rushing towards Mr. Oberoi, he carried her in his arms and those giggles were echoing around. The bright smile was spread on her face. She was the happiest when she was with him.
"Don't you think he is dangerous for her?" I couldn't help myself from muttering it out but rather than getting defensive or totally eliminating the topic, she answered with a understandable nature.
"He is intimating and I don't like his presence but he won't harm Riddhi. He can be dangerous for the rest of the world but not her." She smiled at me, "I can assure you that..."
I glanced back at them. Maybe they were happy in their small world. Though Mr. Oberoi had done cruel things but he was a good father for his daughter. And I didn't had the right to separate her from the only parental figure she was left with. The only sunshine in her dull, boring life. She was her smile and I couldn't wash it off her face.
As I was lost in thoughts, I heard a bullet and soon something touching my shoulder, I felt a sharp pain. Before my mind could register, there was scream and cries and soon blankness surrounded me.
•••
"Another attempt to harm her," I heard an annoyed groan. "I had warned you to be careful," there was disappointed in his tone. His rough voice was fuming in rage. "You were present over there yet he managed to harm her."
"I apologise for my mistake, boss." I heard another strong masculine voice but I could discriminate it from Mr. Oberoi. Though his voice was strong, rough yet it couldn't compete with Mr Oberoi's commanding one, it made human to shiver.
There was silence but I heard footsteps, inching close towards me. "Leave," and silence surrounded us after it.
The silence scared me, at the mere possibility that I was alone with him in the room, frightened me. He was a murderer after all! Though I attempted a lot but my orbs were in a mood to open up, it felt as I was dreaming yet it wasn't a dream.
"Rose," I had never heard him so soft, so fragile. He felt so lost, so broken. I doubted my own senses, was I correct? Was that really Mr. Oberoi? Or I might be just dreaming! Mere, ridiculous dream. How the dangerous monster could sound so soft, so fragile, so human?
"I can't loose you again..." It was a small whisper as I felt a soft peck on my forehead. That kiss felt like a promise that he had made to himself! That he won't loose me.
