6- Serafina
We took a carriage down to the nearest town with Mr. Vanderbilts permission. We found a shop there that would take them for fifty Dallas each. That was alooooot of money.
When we got back, everything seemed fine. That is until Waysa stopped dead in his tracks.
"Do you smell that?"
I did. At least now that he had pointed it out anyway. It was the smell of death. When we got back to where we found the rocks, the water was dried up. All vegetation around the area was dead, and it was rapidly spreading.
"I, I think I know someone who could help."
They all looked at me confused. I don't blame them. They didn't know I knew anyone else but them.
"Her name is Willa. She has some sort of camoflouge power."
"A faeren?" Waysa asked.
"I don't know but she seemed friendly."
"Well if she's what I think she is, she could bring these plants back to life."
"Really?" I was shocked. The dead was supposed to stay dead. Even with wildlife. It was unnatural for something with no life left to live again.
"Take me to Willa. We need her help. If she truly is a faeren of the old ways, then we need her on our side."
"Fine, but I'm coming with you." Braeden insisted, a hint of jealousy on his face.
"Well if the Loverboy and Mr. Steal Yo Girl are going I'd better come to make sure you three don't have a lovers quarrel." Rowena said trying to hide the fact that she wanted to come.
I blushed.
"Well... come on then" I said, ending the awkward silence.
Me and Waysa shifted into panther form allowing Braeden and Rowena to climb on our backs.
I started searching for Willa where we first met. When I didn't find her there, I tracked her scent to a small cove looking a bit like a mushroom.
Rowena reaches down, plucked an acorn from the ground, and threw it into the larger cave.
A scrawny girl with a mane of dark, almost black, hair and earthy skin stuck her head out from the cave. She looked happy to see me.
Then she looked at Waysa with awe. Somehow she knew he was a catamount the second their eyes met.
"Nice place you got here." Rowena said trying to hide her prissiness.
I shifted back into human form.
" Willa this is Braeden, Rowena, and Waysa." I said.
Waysa seemed a bit cautious of the girl. Nonetheless he shifted into human form for my sake.
"I've heard of you faeren. There were many stories of you in my tribe. You're language can be mildly understood by animals. The earlier versions of you could blend into your surrounding. You were called wood witches. But I heard that talent was long gone now. Which is why I had to come when Serafina told me about you and how you could blend." Waysa said reciting the knowledge he had learned from his old tribe.
Why did you come here anyway?" Willa asked.
"Oh because we wanted to come out in the woods and get mud all over our clothes surrounded by uncivilized idiots."
"Rowena." Braeden warned
"The truth is," I started. We had just met. Could I really trust this girl?
It was worth a shot.
"We need your help," I admitted.
"With what?" Willa asked.
"You see, we sorta sold some white stones and now the forest it rotting and dying-"
"You took Moonstones? And sold them?!" Willa interrupted. "Those are necessary for life! They also are very cursed."
We looked around nervously.
"Wait- what kinda curse are we talking about?" Rowena asked.
"They give the owner bad luck. Sometimes in the form of a curse. Most of the time it leads to their death." Willa said.
"So... what are we going to do." Waysa asked.
"I have a plan. We are going to round up all of the stones, and Rowena is going to connect their forces back to the landscape."
"Well then...Lets get to it!" I said.
