[Vol. 5] Chapter 105

[Bianka's POV]

I was getting prepared as one of the emperor's men came earlier to inform that the emperor and the empress demanded my presence.

I was a bit baffled by it since the whole Wansai was in a turmoil. After the testimony happened on the priests of the Wansai Temple, everyone was pretty busy.

The victims were all compensated by the emperor since Wansai superiors should have looked into this matter from the start but they neglected.

The emperor had given Arashi and the Duke the task for all of the inner turmoils that were happening inside Wansai. Their co-operation were needed since people were really glad that the Duke had spoke for them. The emperor was impressed as well and he rewarded the Duke as well. However, he refused it.

It took a few weeks to settle down the heated environment of the citizens and it took another few weeks to drag out the blind followers of the temple from the netizens who were polluting everyone's minds. They were still trying to create mess out of everything again.

I was impressed that the Duke Ginjiro Shimatzu and Arashi had done it together. It seemed the Duke was quite powerful himself and his people were only listening to him.

And I also heard that Daichi and the other cousins of Arashi helped them too. It was pretty much a joint collaboration for making everything alright in Wansai and I was happy that they got along.

Well, for the past few weeks, Arashi was busy but in his absence, I was in charge of his paperwork. At first, I was really confused but that's where Hans and Kairo came.

The counting of whole Wansai's tax was given to Arashi since there was a problem within the papers that the other lords who were in charge couldn't solve. Arashi refused it since his hands were already filled with the task the emperor gave and also the outer politics around Godoyama and Kosaki. The crown Prince wanted the paperwork of the taxes however, the emperor said, he was in charge of all the protection of the Wansai. If he neglected that duty, others could find a hole and might attack us.

The other cousins already had their hands full with their own domains' problems so Arashi suggested them to make their territory safe first.

Daichi was already full with the trades and his people, so he didn't want to add another task.

So, at the end of the day, Arashi suggested my name.

I was shocked because I had never done this. I thought men didn't like to involve women in these works and the others also displayed their distrust toward me. Even the empress said, "A women should not given these work."

But Arashi intervened, "Our territory has expanded greatly and not to mention, the population has increased as well. If you think only a man can do everything on his own, you are mistaken gravely. If you haven't already seen it, women were the ones who were victims of the priests. And they were the one who had unmasked the priests. That also includes Bianka."

"That was the Duke who has done it." One of the cousins said.

"I have to disagree with you, unfortunately," Duke Ginjiro said, "I only spoke on behalf of the witnesses and the victims. I was merely an advocate for this court. But the investigation was done by another woman. Who has assisted me in all these." He pointed at the woman beside him. It was the same woman who had come with the Duke on the testimonial day.

I was curious who was she and after hearing her excellent accomplishments, I was very surprised.

"B—but women are not always very reliable..." Akio said, "I mean, I wouldn't be able to count that many numbers..."

"That must be your incompetency. Don't judge others by your weaknesses, Akio. You may be not very good at these but I know a lot of women who are very reliable." Arashi said her and pointed at the same woman who gracefully stood beside Duke Ginjiro Shimatzu. "Meet Miss Shinohara Haruhito."

Arashi nodded at her as she gave a small bow. Arashi said, "She had investigated with Satoshi in this case and had captured the culprits. I don't think we should judge women based on that they are weak. In fact, my wife here had successfully and skillfully stabbed one of the culprits while she was in the cave."

Err... It was by mistakenly...

But I wouldn't spill it now...

Arashi said, "We hadn't given them a chance but I think we should start giving them the opportunity they deserves."

And thus, after so many ups and downs, the emperor agreed to make me the accountant for taxes of Wansai.

So, since that day, Kairo and Hans had started to teach me everything about taxes. From how they collected taxes from each territory to how much it was added to the emperor's wealth and how much it was used for the people. I learnt it all.

Arashi had been giving me valuable lessons as well and above all, they let me join in their group who dragged out the blind worshipers. Although, I wasn't going outside but I could see their information in Arashi's chamber. It seemed the Kuro soldiers were trusting me like they trusted Arashi.

Even Arashi had started to involve me in his tasks of Kuro soldiers however, there were still some things that were confidential.

But I was happy with that. Because of that I could spend my time inside Arashi's wings and also no body could tell me now that I wasn't allowed in his chamber.

I was an accountant. Of course, I was allowed everywhere where money was involved. Especially money of Wansai people.

I had never done these kind of works but I found it pretty much exciting. Arashi had to go with the Duke and his cousins so I handled all the paperwork inside his office chamber as well as the taxes.

After the trial and the testimony, the restriction I had around Arashi had perished and the official marriage of us was never mentioned because everyone forgot about it. The trial was fake so no one cared about any other kind of things to qualify me as Arashi's wife.

They called me Princess Bianka even without the official announcement of my title.

The empress was still angry with that but soon even she forgot about it because of all the new rules and regulations came. The laws were changed due to The Duke's request and Arashi also contributed in that. He, himself said many of the laws were just on a fluke so he requested the emperor to follow the foreign law system.

Of course, there were still some arguments on it but half of the court wanted to follow the foreign law systems and half of them didn't want to go out of their traditional way of doing things. And the emperor was still facing problems regarding the temple so he had postponed the announcement regarding the law system.

As of now, I was guided by Kairo toward the hall where the emperor and the empress were seated. I was wondering what did they want?

I asked Kairo, "Do they want the tax files? It will take time though..."

Kairo shrugged his shoulders and said, "I don't think it is for the taxes..."

"Then?" I asked as I glanced at him.

He said, "Who knows?"

I displayed a suspicious look at his way. Somehow I felt like he knew it but he didn't want to tell...

Anyways, I just wanted to finish today's papers then go back to my room and probably wait for Arashi.

He hadn't come for three days...

And even though I was busy, I was missing him.

As the doors were opened, I entered and saw, everyone was there. Arashi, the Duke, Rei, Daichi, Rose even all of their cousins. Every family members of Arashi was present there but the emperor and the empress hadn't arrived yet.

As I entered, their eyes fell on me. Some of them looked at me with disgusted faces became they didn't like that I was their accountant in the imperial court. I had my own place and my own title. I wasn't known as Arashi's wife only.

I went toward where Arashi was and asked, "What's the occasion?"

He shrugged. "I have no idea. We arrived just now and the soldiers came to us telling us to come immediately."

The Duke also was puzzled by the urgent summoning. It seemed everyone was unaware of it.

And then the emperor and the empress entered as we all bowed.

"Raise your heads..." The emperor said, "Today, I am so happy to see that the whole Wansai is working together to make everything right."

Everyone nodded and their chest puffed with pride as the emperor continued, "A few years ago, I had witnessed rivalry among our own people but today, it is different. "

Everyone's eyes were on him as they all feed on his pamper filled words. Well, I was feeding on it as well. Since he was praising today...

"And in this situation, I want to announce a joyous occasion..." He added as everyone looked at him with smiling faces. We knew he wanted to celebrate it so it might be an occasion he would announce.

Well, we wanted some time off and more than that, we all were exhausted.

The emperor smiled at them and said, "I announce that in three weeks, my grandson, Arashi and Princess Bianka's official marriage will be held and everyone is invited to join this joyous moment."

For a second, everything went silent. I blinked.

My head snapped at Arashi who was also processing the information while the crowd expressed their shock with a large "Ehhhh?"
