Flowers
Elsa Arendelle
There are many things for me to say to him.
Jackson filled that empty gap.
So did everyone else ... they are all so precious and important to me.
"Let's leave this party." He whispers to me.
"What about everyone?" I whisper back at him.
"They'll survive." He says and flashes his smile.
The door creaks open and reveals James. Who looks angry with his furrowed eyebrows and the glare he has on. He stomps up to us.
"Don't you dare sneak off. It's my special day." He growls at us.
"I'm sorry James. I won't go anywhere." I apologize.
"It's your day. So it has nothing to do with us." Jackson argues.
"Couple stuff can wait. Don't act so sickly." James spits, he seems furious, "You have to stay."
Jackson shakes his head and avoids contact to his eyes.
"Just stay. It's not that bad." I tell him.
James chuckles, "Elsa you are not the reason why he wants to leave."
"You are. I'd rather be with you than be here." Jackson says.
I don't understand why this is a big issue.
"The main reason is that both of us are going to visit our family's grave later on. And he thinks he can dodge it like that." James explains, "Don't you think it's rude to not visit them? I bet you haven't even visited them once. You didn't even attend their funeral."
Jackson looks away and pouts.
"Jackson. You should go with James." I tell him.
"Yeah yeah. I will later. Once the party finishes." Jackson says and just walks back into the house with his hands in his pockets.
"At least he's going. If he was still broken then he would absolutely refuse." James tells me.
I don't get it. He should be able to have that strength.
James and I head inside the house. We both search for Jackson, through all of the guests here. But he's disappeared.
"That bastard!" James exclaims, "He's a coward."
I glare at James, "Listen. Jackson has been through a lot more than you have emotionally. You could've been amongst those family graves, and Jackson lived knowing that possibility." I tell him poking at his chest.
"So what now? We let him go?" James says and crosses his arms.
"No. We find him." I say and we search outside.
"He must've gone through the back. Leading to the soccer field." James tells me and I run outside and to the soccer field.
I pant heavily while I make a run to the soccer field. I stand there as I spot him. Sitting down against the wired barrier with his legs up, and his elbows are on it using it as support.
I approach behind him, he's unaware of where I am.
"Elsa." He says and I jump up.
"I knew you'd be here. But honestly, you shouldn't be concerned." He assures me, "You should go."
"I'm not leaving you ever." I tell him.
"You should or else you'll see my unmanly part of me." He says to me, "I'm not that strong."
"Of course you are strong." I say to him, "But why don't you want to go?"
"I'm terrible, that's why. I did terrible things after their death. They wouldn't be proud of me whatsoever so I can't face them. I can't face my family." He explains, "I just want to tell them everything."
"Then do exactly that. If you want to get everything off your chest and if you want to feel better." I say to him and rub his shoulder, "Like how do you feel that they're gone?"
There was a silence, Jackson looked down.
"How do I feel that they're gone?" Jackson says, "Well ..." His voice breaks up a bit and I catch a glimpse of a small tear running down his face as it hits the grass.
My heart sunk, I shouldn't of said that. I know that Jackson is strong but his weak spot is his close ones. That's why he didn't want to be close with anyone in the first place.
"Sorry. You shouldn't of seen that." He tells me.
"Don't worry Jackson, it assures me that you can cry. And you have that soft side." I say to him.
"I didn't cry!" He protests and I laugh.
"I saw a tear." I say and giggle.
"That doesn't count." He argues.
"Does too."
"Does not!"
"Does too."
"Let's just go back and not bring this up."
"Sure. But I am going to tell your brother."
"DON'T YOU DARE!"
Jackson Overland
Once we got back I get dressed in a white blouse, black tie and black jeans. I ruffle up my hair and I go out.
Elsa looks at me and pays attention to my tie, she comes close to me.
Is she going to kiss me?
My cheeks flush with red while she touches my chest and she tightens my tie.
"You're so sloppy. At least tighten your tie up." She tells me and I hold her hand.
She looks up confused.
"You're coming with us. To the grave." I tell her and she suddenly acts fidgety and panics a bit.
"W-what? No. I'm sorry I feel like I shouldn't be there." She bursts out, I squeeze her hand.
"You have to. Because I said so." I tell her and smile.
"I guess I'll go." She says and looks away and I chuckle, she's adorable.
James is suited up too and everyone pretty much clears away from the party. It's just us three; Elsa, James and I.
"Let's go." James says and James starts up the car and changes his 'L' plates to 'P's.
I can't drive and for some reason and under James' circumstances, Elsa is not allowed to drive.
Bevause he claims she is traumatized from the accident which she says she barely remembers, but I agree with James on this one.
We finally arrive on the site. Three gravestones lined up.
Sophie, Catherine and Henry Frost.
Shriveled up flowers laid on the cover of the grave, they were dead flowers.
"Why can't the visitors come back and get rid of their now dead flowers? They're basically leaving rubbish on their grave." James rants.
"But I'm grateful for their thoughtfulness." I say and smile.
I look at all the flowers on each grave and they are all tailored to their tastes. They got my mother daisys, my father tulips and my sister's sunflowers.
I look over to Elsa who looks at the flowers and a grow a smile. "Your mother is gentle, kind and elegant. Your father is preserved, smart and dedicated. And the sister is joyous, very happy and positive." She says to me.
I wryly laugh, "You're exactly right. I feel proud, that they are my family."
"Don't tell that to me," Elsa says "Tell that to your family."
I walk up closer the graves. I look over to James.
"I'll be strong ma, pa and Soph. I won't do anything that will bring shame to you, I am not that evil guy anymore." James tells them, "I am James Frost. And I love you all." James tears up with his salty tears emerging from his eyes.
I look at all of the stones.
I am ready.
"Mother, father, Soph." I address them, "I did a lot of horrible things when you were gone. I treated life like trash when it is the most precious thing in the world. I've lost many opportunities because of this wall I had, which stopped people coming in but it also stopped me from coming out. In very rare cases like mine, happiness came to me. But I knew that it wasn't going to stay for long so I had to make an effort to catch. Humanity is on a constant pursue to happiness and I wasn't at that time. I didn't truly live. Not truly living offended the people who past away, the people who past away knowing they want to live. I just want to say ...
Thank you for everything. If I ever told you I hated you it was a lie. Because I love you, so damn much. You're my family you are all apart of me, a part I thought was lost but it was always there. You still live in my heart, and you'll never disappear. And ... you don't have to worry about me. I will always be happy now."
I look at Elsa and James, both are smiling widely flashing their shiny teeth.
I am lucky to be alive.
