🎶...I'm more than just a picture
I'm a daughter and a sister
Sometimes it's hard for me to show
That I'm more than just a rumor
Or a song on your computer
There's more to me than people know...🎶
I turned the volume to the extent that the whole building could crumble to dust.
Getting back from boarding school for a week off was literally the best thing that I accomplished my whole life, school has been exhausting, draining my energy to the fullest. Being home never felt this good. I danced to the tune, twisting and turning to the upbeat like a gazelle felt more than nice.
It was no more than thirty minutes since I stepped into my bedroom, with my luggage packed for the week. My hands touched every little thing in my bedroom on its own accord, the nostalgic feeling crept into my brain, I admired my childhood bedroom, the canopy that framed my bed, and the enormous amount of teddy bears that surrounded it, and my first reaction was to dance with them, and that was what I did.
After hours and hours of dancing, I walked downstairs to have dinner with my parents, my parents have always been supportive, the coolest parents that anyone could ask for, and the amount of love they bestowed on me when I get back home was always surprising but what baffled me was their choice of enrolling me into boarding school without my consent, that left me questioning.
"Honey can you turn your volume down tonight, we need to get some sleep and so do you" my mother spoke, while I chewed a spoonful of homemade lasagna.
"Yes Hope, rest tonight, I'll take you somewhere tomorrow" my father interfered, with a huge smile plastered on his face.
"Where?" I asked, getting a little curious from the reaction he was offering, I noticed my mom facepalm herself, she gave a light slap on my father's shoulder and my father looked sheepishly at her.
"It was supposed to be a surprise!" She shrieked in annoyance, my father only shrugged in response which landed him another slap, harder this time.
"Ouch!" He exclaimed at my mother, feigning pain, and uttered to me "surprise!".
I laughed at both of them, the bickering continued for the rest of the meal, I walked to my bedroom after I've literally licked off my plate, earning myself a stomach full of laughter from my parents for my tendencies.
I changed into comfortable nightwear after a peaceful shower in my attached bathroom with no students to annoy me and settled on the bed.
I tossed on the bed for hours but sleep decided to turn down my pleas, wide awake at 1 am, I heard a loud thud coming from the outside.
Curiosity blinded my rationality, I walked to the window and peered outside. A black limbo was parked on our lawn, crushing my sunflower babies arrogantly, I stared at the car and the sunflowers in shock and anger.
With anger raging through my body, I hastily covered my body with a denim coat and walked down, as I walked down I noticed that the lights were on and heard a series of voices coming from our living room.
I walked to the sound discreetly and witnessed my parents seated on the sofa, although I couldn't see their faces, their posture looked stiff.
There were two strangers sat on the couch opposite my parents and two standing by the door, all of their faces were covered with a black hood and they were wearing identical black robes that reached their knees.
I hid behind the wall that separated the passage and the living room and peeked at them, they were talking with my parents in hushed voices, after a minute of back and forth whispering, my father tried to throw a punch at the tall stranger for some reason but the shorter one caught his hands.
All four of them manhandled my parents causing my rage to fuel in the most dangerous territory, I grabbed the first thing my hands reached, it was a small nightstand, better something than nothing.
"Stop it!" I yelled at the strangers and stepped out of my hiding place.
"What are you doing to my parents," I said to them through gritted teeth, they dropped their hold on my parents, pulled their hood down, and looked at me with sheer amusement, their features screamed danger but when was I the one for listening to my instincts.
I rushed to my parents, scooped them into a hug, my father shook his head at me in disapproval, I wondered what he was implying but it was too late.
Strong pair of arms pinned me to their stone-like body, the arms choking my neck, I struggled against them, ferociously throwing my hands and legs but it didn't do any good, their hold only tightened more to my feeble attempt.
They took hold of my parents and dragged them to the door, I thrashed more violently, the arm released me and I fell to the ground from the sudden release.
I ran to my parents "where are you taking them?" I shouted and attempted to free them, "what do you want? Let them go!", my voice started to plead on its own.
"Hope listen, it's okay! Go to your room" my father started to convince me while mom offered me a small sad smile.
"No, why are you going with them? Do they want money? We can give them, please don't leave me" I sobbed to them.
"This isn't about money, Hope I couldn't tell this to you now, just go back to your room..." My mother started but I cut her off.
"Tell me what's happening?" I argued, panic and despair slowly replacing my anger and rage.
"She's not the one to obey commands" the tall stranger interrupted. He grabbed me into a vicious hold, his hold reminded me of a serpent, tight and brutal.
"Let me tell you this little girl" he spit in a sing-song voice with so much malice, that made my inside glide in fear.
"They are not your parents, they belong to us and they will pay for raising you!" He spoke with hegemony.
I stared at them in confusion, they are my parents, what were they talking about?
"Tell me they're lying," I asked my parents in shock, they kept silent, I repeated but they kept quiet, it was almost as if they were agreeing with the stranger.
I shook my head in disbelief and shock, the strangers dragged my parents outside the house, ignoring their attempt, millions of questions clouded my vision but looking at my parents being treated poorly subsided them, I raised the metal nightstand that I had in my hands and hit the stranger in the head with much force as I can muster.
The tall stranger turned to face me, his eyes turning red in rage and his posture turning dangerously stiff but what scared me to death was his teeth lengthened outside his mouth like a serpent, putting his fangs in the display.
Realization drowned in me, they were not humans, they were vampires, the creatures of the dark!
