Chapter 31 :- Weird Roommates

The moment I saw them I felt like I should avoid them as much as possible.

The tall guy exuded an effortless coolness with his choice of attire. His simple shirt, a crisp white fabric, clung to his broad shoulders, accentuating his athletic build. The sleeves were rolled up, revealing a hint of sun-kissed skin and a collection of intricate tattoos that peeked out from underneath. Paired with the shirt, he wore a pair of perfectly fitted jeans that hugged his long legs, emphasizing his lean physique. His curly, messy hair added an element of untamed charm, cascading in wild waves around his face. Each curl seemed to have a mind of its own, creating an artful disarray that somehow enhanced his rugged good looks. With his effortless style and carefree demeanor, he effortlessly embodied the essence of casual elegance.

Then there was the short individual with vibrant orange hair emanated a unique aura, captivating all who laid eyes upon them. His hair, reminiscent of a blazing sunset, cascaded in untamed waves, adding a touch of whimsy to his appearance. A sense of playfulness was further accentuated by their choice of attire, a verdant green shirt that mirrored the lushness of a flourishing forest. The fabric clung gently to his frame, highlighting his petite stature and exuding an air of effortless style. Paired with the shirt, a pair of well-worn jeans adorned his legs, each crease and faded patch telling a story of countless adventures. This ensemble, a harmonious blend of vibrant hues and casual comfort, painted a picture of an individual unafraid to embrace his own unique identity.

Tall guy's frustration was palpable as he stared at me, his eyes filled with annoyance. "At least freak out a little," he muttered, his voice laced with exasperation. "Don't just stare at me like bleh. I am trying to scare you."

Feeling a mix of amusement and sympathy, I raised my hands in the air and exaggeratedly acted scared. "Oh, I am shaking," I replied, a hint of sarcasm in my voice. I couldn't help but wonder if my attempt at humor would alleviate the tension between us. "Was that okay?"

Tall guy sighed, his frustration momentarily subsiding. "I guess it was kind of okay," he reluctantly admitted, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips.

These guys are seriously insane I can just tell by looking at them. They kind of remind of Dwayne.

Turning his attention away from me, tall guy called out to his friend, who was standing nearby. "Hey, look at this guy here Sho, he looks awesome almost like a black widow." he said, before pausing and adding, "Well I guess, he's more like Batman."

Sho's eyes widened as he examined me, his imagination running wild. "He looks like he murdered hundreds of people before coming here," he remarked.

Before I could respond to that, Tall guy walked towards me, his eyes fixed on mine, gleaming mischievously. "Well, well, well, what's up Batman? What are you here to do?" he asked, his voice laced with sarcasm.

Again before I could respond, he asked, "Are you here to find the Joker?"
Well, to be honest, I wasn't really looking for jokers, but I guess I stumbled upon not just one but two of them, I replied, "No, I am your new roommate."

I felt a strange sense of discomfort as Tall guy gave me a peculiar facial expression, one that made me uneasy. He then proceeded to introduce himself as Kevin, and pointed towards the other guy, Shoyo, informing me I can call him 'Sho' and to him as 'K'

I nodded and greeted both of them, introducing myself as Alvin. These two were undeniably attractive, but their behavior seemed eccentric.

As the conversation continued, K abruptly brought up the topic of money, questioning whether I had any to spare. His bluntness caught me off guard, leaving me momentarily speechless. Before I could even respond, he quickly added, "Well, you don't look like you have money. It seems like you're broke." His words stung, and I couldn't help but feel a surge of indignation rising within me.

I raised my eyebrows and said, "The game of Question and Answer is meant to be played by two people, but you are playing it all by yourself."

K shrugged and replied, "Well, I just judged based on your appearance, sorry about that."

I let out a sigh, "Never judge a book by it's looks okay. Please remember that."

I then let out a heavy sigh as I opened up to Sho and K about my background, revealing that I hailed from Riverwood and was an orphan. However, I chose not to delve into the details of my time at the orphanage, particularly about Alice. K, in turn, shared that he was living in a small town to seek a cure for his ailing mother, as he was poor and had lost his father at a young age. Elizabeth had offered him a deal to work for her in exchange for saving his mother. However, tragically, despite his efforts and Elizabeth's assistance, his mother still passed away. The pain and sorrow in K's voice as he shared this heartbreaking news was palpable.

I said sympathetically, "I am so sorry to hear that, K."

K responded with a small smile, "It's okay, bro."

I couldn't help but question why K continued to work for Elizabeth despite his mother's death, to which he explained that she had made an effort to save her, so he felt obligated to fulfill his end of the bargain.

Sho then disclosed his own struggles, revealing that his younger sister was battling a serious illness and he lacked the funds to provide her with proper treatment. Like K, he had also agreed to work for Elizabeth in hopes of finding a cure for his sister, who was currently in the process of recovery.

We all were facing a similar dilemma except K, who's mother passed away - Sho and me, we both have someone dear to us who is sick, and Elizabeth is searching for a cure for them. However, this evil witch has found a way to manipulate and ensnare unsuspecting individuals into her sinister plans. I thought I was the only one but I am not.

I changed the topic and informed Sho and K about the upcoming lab mission that we will be embarking on next week, and they both agreed to join me.

As the conversation continued, a sudden question popped into my mind, and I couldn't help but blurt it out. "Well, you said that you haven't been on a mission for a while, so what did you guys do in the meantime?" I asked, genuinely curious.

K, with a mischievous smirk on his face, replied, "We begged on the streets for money."

I couldn't believe what I was hearing. This guy was completely out of his mind. "Seriously?" I questioned, my eyebrows furrowing in disbelief.

Sho, looking slightly exasperated, chimed in, "Well, duh! We didn't have any money, so we had no choice but to beg."

Well I guess, I can understand that these guys had to beg on the streets for money because they were broke, but I didn't know that they could go this far.

Confusion washed over me as I wondered why they hadn't asked Elizabeth for help. "Why didn't you ask Elizabeth for money then?" I inquired, hoping for a reasonable explanation.

Sho's frustration was evident in his voice as he replied, "We did asked and she gave us a lot of money but K spent all that money on playing lottery tickets and lost every penny."

K, not one to back down, retorted, "Oh, really? You're not one to talk. You also spent the money we were saving on Netflix and video games."

Their argument escalated quickly, insults flying back and forth. "There's no point in talking with you, Broccoli head," Sho snapped.

Unwilling to let Sho have the last word, K fired back, "Shut up, fish lips!"

Feeling the need to intervene, trying to diffuse the tension. "Stop it, you two! Don't insult each other, it's an insult to healthy food too," I scolded, hoping they would realize the pettiness of their argument.

Bur K and Sho kept bickering back and forth, hurling insults at each other. It was getting out of hand, and I knew I had to intervene before things got worse. I stepped in between them, putting a hand on each of their shoulders. I said, "Okay guys that's enough now."

They both nodded and I let out a heavy sigh. I am truly grateful for having a friend like Dwayne. Thanks to Dwayne, it has become much easier to deal with these guys. However, I hope that I will still be able to handle them on my own cause these guys are 100 times crazier than Dwayne.

K smirked, a glimmer of excitement dancing in his eyes. "But you know what, today was my lucky day, man. I hit the jackpot and scored a whopping 500 bucks!"

I raised an eyebrow. "And how did you manage that?"

Sho let out a frustrated sigh. "He took advantage of an old grandma," he said, his voice laced with anger. "He sold her a calculator and told her it was an iPhone."

My blood boiled when I heard K scamming an elderly person. "That is absolutely unacceptable," I stated firmly. "You cannot simply deceive and exploit people, especially the elderly, for financial gain. I understand that times may be tough and you may be in desperate need of money, but resorting to such unethical methods is never the right approach."

Sho nodded in agreement. "I told K that he should have at least sold her a damaged phone or something, but he insisted on a calculator."

I shook my head. "It doesn't matter if it was a damaged phone or a calculator. Scamming is never acceptable. Promise me you won't do it again."

I continued, "Let's not scam people or do anything shady, okay? If you need money, just ask me and I'll help you out."

K and Sho exchanged a look before nodding in agreement. "We promise," they said in unison.

I let out a heavy sigh and folded my arms and said, "So guys, what do you usually cook here? I mean, I saw the remnants of bread earlier, and it got me wondering."

Sho, with a mischievous grin, responded, "Well, I happen to be the designated food creator in this kitchen. And believe it or not, I can whip up a variety of delicious recipes using just toast as the base ingredient. From classic toast sandwiches to other innovative creations, the possibilities are endless."

K smirked as he spoke, "Sho is really good at making toasts."

I couldn't help but find this statement nonsensical. After all, no matter who puts bread in a toaster, the toast will come out exactly the same. However, I decided to brush off this peculiar comment. I have to get along with them even though they are crazy.

"Well, since we are going to be roommates, let's make an effort to get along with each other," I suggested, hoping to establish a positive atmosphere between us.

I continued "Okay guys, I would really like to get to know each of you better since I'll be leading this team. So, what are your specialties?"

A mischievous smirk spread across K's face, "I am a professional at begging," he declared, his tone filled with a strange sense of pride. I couldn't help but give him a perplexed stare, unsure if he was joking or being serious.

K, however, seemed determined to convince me. "What? Are you underestimating me?" he challenged. "I make $100 a day just by utilizing my begging skills. I am also skilled in sobbing techniques, so I can make a good impression on people while begging."

I let out a weary sigh, my frustration mounting. Turning my attention to Sho, I hoped for a more practical response. "And what about you, Sho?" I asked, hoping for a more useful skillset.

Sho's expression remained impassive as he calmly replied, "As I mentioned earlier, I am quite skilled at making toasts." The absurdity of his statement caused my eyebrows to furrow in disbelief. Surely, they couldn't be serious. I had explicitly asked them to be serious, and yet they seemed adamant about their claims.

I expressed my frustration in a slightly exasperated tone, "Guys, seriously? Begging and making toasts are your specialties?"

K responded with a serious tone, "Dude, we are dead serious about this."

I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Were they seriously not taking this seriously? I had explicitly asked them to share their true specialties, yet they seemed determined to joke around. My frustration grew, and I let out another sigh, this time tinged with exasperation.

I can't even believe the mess I've gotten myself into. Seriously, what was Robert thinking when he decided to team me up with these two idiots?

Finally, K and Sho seemed to sense my disappointment and shifted their demeanor slightly. K, with a hint of pride in his voice, admitted, "Well, we may not possess extraordinary abilities or physical strength, but I am actually quite skilled at hacking. I can easily infiltrate any system without being detected. While I won't claim to be the best hacker, I am certainly proficient."

Sho, proudly declared, "I may not be tall, but I possess an incredible ability to jump higher than anyone else. My speed and reflexes are also top-notch."

Intrigued by Sho's claim, I said, "Well, I can jump about 6 feet 11 inches almost 7 feet you could say. How high can you jump?"

K, with a mischievous smirk, interjected, "Sho can jump about 8 feet, and I can reach a height of approximately 7 feet 4 inches. Is that good enough for you?"

Sho, looking down modestly, added, "In addition to my jumping prowess, I can run at a speed of over 40 kilometers per hour. K, although lacking in reflexes, can keep up with me. He may not possess my level of agility, but he is still quite skilled."

My eyes kept widening as I heard from them. I was in absolute shock. I never thought that person could jump that high. I was amazed. These guys are insane, but they're really cool.

A hint of disappointment crossed Sho's face as he continued, "However, despite our individual talents, we struggle when it comes to fighting. We're not exactly the best fighters. I mean, I'm pretty short and those tall dudes always seem to crush me like a bug."

K, with a somber expression, chimed in, "I may be big and tall, but let me tell you, there were a few missions we went on together where we got our butts handed to us. I mean, it was brutal. I don't even want to think about it. Those guys treated us like we were nothing, like straight-up trash. Those days were just plain awful, dude. We were beaten so badly that the memories still haunt us. Those days were truly horrific."

I totally get where they're coming from - tall guys can be so intimidating! I'm only 5 feet 3, so I feel the struggle.

But, I guess being short has its perks too! You never have to worry about hitting your head on door frames or getting tangled in ceiling fans.

Seeking to uplift their spirits, I reassured them, "It's okay guys. What happened, happened. Let's move forward, okay? For now, let's not dwell on the past too much."

Both Sho and K brightened up, their smiles radiating gratitude. However, before we could revel in the newfound optimism, the door suddenly swung open, interrupting our conversation.

Q1. So what do you guys think about K and Sho so far? I haven't gave them enough time but I will give them soon in future chapters.
