17 - Q & A
The press conference is at the hotel's largest function room. You were given the id as David mentioned earlier and you were given the instructions to make sure you stay close to Yoongi's group. An extra set of security people came in, particularly on the floor where Yoongi is staying. You watch how people hovered around Yoongi as his clothes get straightened and his hair fixed while being filmed the whole time. You were told not to worry about getting caught on camera because they will be blurring out your face. Yoongi seems to be used to everything because he just lets people do what they're supposed to do while he scrolls through his phone.
Half of the group had to go ahead as the press conference time got closer. That included you. Yoongi stays behind with David, two bodyguards, and the filming crew. Your sister is waiting by the elevator as you exited. She looks at you and she gives you a smile. You feel sorry for her because you know she's been so busy arranging everything. But, you can also see in her eyes that she's happy with what she's doing.
There were crowd control barriers set up because fans started to gather a few meters from the elevator. Girls started screaming as as you and the rest of the staff exit but they immediately stopped when they realize Yoongi isn't with your group. It didn't take long before the next elevator opened and Yoongi's bodyguards step out followed by David then Yoongi comes out with the film crew and there was a deafening noise as the fans started screaming. Yoongi pauses to wave at them and the screaming just got louder. You flinch as the sound echoes through the hallway, Hyeri pulls you with her as she starts walking. Your sister stands next to David to usher the group toward the designated entrance. Yoongi looks at Kylee before he looks at you. He gives an amused smile before shaking his head.
David asks you to enter first and your sister points you to your assigned seat on the stage next to Yoongi. You smile at the reporters recognizing some of them as you've already worked with other artists and celebrities before. Fans start chanting for Agust D, and in less than a minute, Yoongi appears. Just as it was outside, the fans in the function room shrieks in excitement. You watch Yoongi standing on stage with a huge smile as he waves and bows at everyone. He poses for the cameras a few times before he turns to his seat. He looks at you briefly nodding his head which you return.
The emcee is a Dj from a local radio station and he facilitates the program. He greets everyone and made introductions about himself before proceeding to give some back story on how and when he first met Yoongi. You lean closer to him as you started doing your job of translating what the emcee was saying. Yoongi leans closer to you so he can hear what you were saying and although there's a decent distance between the two of you, the smell of his cologne reaches you. It's different from the one he used to wear. You shake yourself to focus.
Deep inside, you know that he understood what the emcee was saying but you just did what your job dictates you do. He nods his head as he listens before asking.
"What perfume are you wearing?"
You looked at him briefly before looking away. The expression on his face appears like he just asked a normal question. What the hell is he trying to do? You ask quietly, You didn't answer him but you turn your eyes to the emcee instead. You feel a bit guilty because, in your mind, you're wondering about the scent Yoongi is wearing too. It smells very manly and refreshing but not too overpowering that'll give you a headache after.
The emcee asks Yoongi how he is doing. You were about to translate the question but he motions for you that he can answer it. Of course, he can, you tell yourself. He understands English more than people think. He answers the next couple of questions on his own before the emcee lets everyone know that the floor is open for the press to ask questions.
You sit straight on your chair as you get your notepad and pen ready so you won't miss anything. The questions were basically focused on the concert and his new album. You translated everything locking eyes with Yoongi every once in a while. You managed to continue with your job at hand without getting distracted by his eyes. You feel proud of yourself although your palms got sweaty with the effort you had to exert. The best technique that worked for you was reminiscing what happened eight years ago on the day you were leaving Seoul, and he didn't show up at the airport when he promised he would. The emails, messages, and calls you made that were left unanswered. You had to bother your poor cousin Elin so many times to ask her to check if he is ok. She spoke with him a few times and he appears to be fine although he didn't want to discuss anything about you with your cousin. Remembering the heartbreak that he had given you makes you look at him differently. There's no denying there's a tiny part of you that still remembers how much you felt for him and how he made you feel loved.
A chosen number of his fans get to ask questions. You smile as you watch them look so excited as they wait for their turn right after the press' allotted time is over. Yoongi gives his fans a big grin when that moment was announced. They all squealed excitedly.
The first question had been if he ever had a chance to go around the city to go site seeing. He replies that he hasn't gotten that chance yet but he would love to watch a basketball game. Your mind goes back to the time when you've spent so much time talking about it because both of you were a fan of the sport.
The next question took you by surprise, it got asked by a teenager who's around maybe fifteen or sixteen. She had full makeup on and she wore a cropped shirt which had Agust D printed on it and a loose pair of sweats. She's very pretty and you can tell she'll be gorgeous as an adult. "Have you ever dated anyone before? And what will you advise someone my age when it comes to dating?" People in the room had mixed reactions, the fans squealed while the press laughed as they clapped their hands.
Your hand unconsciously tightened around the pen you're holding and before you can even speak, Yoongi starts to chuckle. You look up at him and he raises an eyebrow at you which speaks so much meaning. You translate the question calmly even though your insides were shaking. You start cursing in your head, and again, you start questioning yourself for taking this job.
"What should I tell them Y/N?" He whispers after you speak.
"I don't know." You reply without looking at him and that made him more amused he starts snickering before taking the microphone to give his reply.
He looks at the girl who asked the question and she literally trembles from her spot. She turns to the girls behind her who were screaming and she keeps on mouthing oh my god, oh my god. You're relieved to see you're not the one who gets affected by his eyes.
"It's normal to go out dating when you are young. Someone loves you and you give that love back in return. Even if the end result is that your heart gets broken then it's ok, you feel sad and cry but you'll also heal and you'll be much stronger than you were before. You'll be tougher and you can face anything after that. That is my advice for you, but the most important thing is that you focus on your studies." He then turns to you so you can translate what he said in English. He leans back in his seat as he watches you with a smirk.
That was a good one, you remark to yourself and you wonder if he's basing that from experience. As you look at him, you start to get annoyed again as you just want to wipe that smug look off his face. Instead, you take a deep breath before slowly releasing it as you start talking. Another round of screaming and the girl tries to ask another question but the emcee cuts her and said she should give the next person a chance. She turns to the girl behind her and whispers something to her that made them both giggle as they exchanged high-fives.
You have a bad feeling about that exchange they made and when the next girl asks her question, you confirm that you're right.
"So have you had your heart broken by someone? Is that where you got the inspiration for the song 'Crushed' in your new album?"
You haven't gotten a chance to listen to that song because it's a track from his album and you only listened to the featured song and his past songs. You contemplate whether you should even listen to it at all. But then again, it can not be about you but someone else. You are not the only girl in his life, you remind yourself. Eight years is long enough for him to get in and out of relationships.
Yoongi tips his head as he watched you tell the question in Korean. His tongue was in his cheek before he moves it to lick his lower lip as you finish the question. That action instantly threw you back again eight years ago. You remember him doing the very same move when you first met; You reach out for the water bottle next to you so you can take a quick drink. The room is too crowded and the heat, together with having done a lot of talking, had gotten your throat dry. You reason to yourself after taking a big gulp of water.
"As I said earlier when you love someone, there's always that risk of getting your heart broken. My song 'Crushed' isn't just about my experience, it can be anyone's. I guess most of you who have gotten your heart broken can relate to it right?" He does not turn to you this time, to your relief. When you finish translating, the fans all answer 'yes' to his question.
More questions came but none got you as flustered as the initial ones. What amused you and everyone else in the room was the last fan's question.
"I don't really have a question but I just want to say thank you for making beautiful music that we can relate to and identify with. You are the coolest and the hottest rapper there is. Wait, I do have a question after all. Agust D, will you marry me?"
