The Parts of Speech

Noun: A word (other than a pronoun) used to name any class of people, places, or things ( common noun ), or to name a particular proper noun.

Examples: Philippines, books, cellphone, Samsung, Juan De Luna

Pronoun: A word that can function by itself as a noun phrase and that refers either to the participants in the discourse (e.g., I, you ) or to someone or something mentioned elsewhere in the discourse (e.g., she, it, this ).

Verb:  It is a word used to describe an action, state, or event and forming the main part of the predicate of a sentence, such as hearbecome, or dance.

Adjective:  Adjectives are words that describe the qualities or states of being of nouns.

Adverb: An adverb is a word or an expression that modifies a verb, adjective, another adverb, determiner, clause, preposition, or sentence. Adverbs usually express manner, place, time, frequency, degree, level of certainty, etc. They answer questions such as how, in what way, when, where, and to what extent.

Conjunction: Conjunctions connect two sentences together. It connects one dependent clause to an independent clause and it is also used to connect two independent clauses.

Preposition: A preposition is a word used to link nouns, pronouns, or phrases to other words within a sentence. They connect the people, objects, time and locations of a sentence.

Article: Like adjectives, articles modify nouns. English has two articles: the and a/an. “The” is used to refer to specific or particular nouns; “a/an” is used to modify non-specific or non-particular nouns.

Interjection: Interjection is a word that demonstrates the feeling or emotions of a person.
