Ponyboy's POV:

For a while it's quiet. We just sit there, enjoying each other's company, holding each other like it's the last time we'll ever see each other. I let all of my secrets fly away, I told her everything, and didn't regret it for a second. She listened, she made it all better. I don't regret telling her about Cherry, and I feel better now that she knows about her. Something changed when I told her all of that. Maybe I let go. Maybe I finally realized that Olivia wouldn't be like her, green eyes or not.

"Are you okay now?" She asks, breaking me out of my thoughts. I nod.

"Yeah, I'm okay." She smiles at me.

"Good... maybe we should get back soon. It's getting kinda late," she tells me. The sound of her voice makes me smile. She sounds so pleasant, so loving.

"Sounds like a good idea," I respond, but don't get up. I'm content with her in my arms. I don't want to leave. Our feet are still dipped in the warm water, probably waterlogged now, but we don't care. We watch the stars, pointing out our favorite constellations for the next few minutes, when we hear a scream.

"I FOUND THEM!" A familiar voice says, loudly. Olivia and I look at each other.

"Amelia?" I whisper to her. She nods and I sigh. What does she want now?

"GWEN, MADELYNE, PHILIP, JAMES, THEY'RE OVER HERE BY THE WATER!" She yells even louder. I feel my ears turning red, but luckily it's dark enough that no one would notice.

"Should we make a run for it?" I whisper to Olivia. She shakes her head, and I can tell that she's nervous.

"They already found us. We'll just get in more trouble if we do that," she says, her voice breaking. I squeeze her hand.

"My parents are going to kill me," she says. "What are we gonna do, Ponyboy?" I don't know how to respond, but try to think of something.

"Maybe... we could say we were trying to find a bathroom?" I suggest. She shakes her head.

"Why would we be all the way by the water then?" She asks. Again, I shrug. And then I see a bunch of flashlights shining on Olivia and I. As we take our feet out of the water, I stand up, and pull her with me.

"It'll be okay," I whisper, not letting go of her hand.

"What are you two doing out here? We've been looking for you two for hours!" Gwendoline demands. Olivia looks down at her bare feet, unable to respond.

"Hours?" I asked. "What time is it?" I get no response from the counselors, but luckily, Olivia finds her voice.

"We... just went for a walk. It was overwhelming in there," she says, close to tears.

"A walk that lasted four hours? It's 9:00, kids, the dance ends in an hour! Were you planning to come back for that, or were we gonna search for you all night?" Gwendoline demands. She's angry, and I can't figure out why.

"Gwen," Olivia starts, but gets cut off.

"No, Olivia. I've told you time and time again that you couldn't sneak out, and you still did. That's unacceptable. I told you days ago that you were on your last strike. I don't know how you thought this was okay, but it's not. C'mon, we're going to see Kim. She'll decide what we're going to do with you," Gwendoline yells. Slowly, Olivia lets go of my hand, but I follow behind.

"I'm going too," I tell them. "We snuck out together, we both deserve the same punishment." Philip and James look at each other, then shrug. I can hear Amelia laughing in the background, and Madelyne trying to shush her.

The walk to Kim, the camp director's office was long and quiet, and torturous, especially for Olivia, I'm guessing, who didn't even bother to get her shoes back. When we get in there, she's filling out paperwork. She's smiling when she looks up at us.

"Hello, Gwen, my dear, it's nice to see you. Ms. Sparks, Mr. Curtis, what can I help you with?" She says. We look at Olivia's Senior counselor, who's fuming.

"These two snuck out. Again. I'm tired of it, Kim. Sick and tired. I don't want Olivia in my bunk anymore. I don't care if you switch her or kick her out or what, but it's making me look bad, and I'm done with her. Done," Gwen says, angrily. Then she storms out. Olivia's in tears, and I don't do anything to calm her down. I'm too nervous.

"You can't kick us out," I exclaim. Kim looks us both over.

"And why's that?" She asks.

"Because I came here as a punishment and my brothers will kill me if I get kicked out... and this was all my idea, not Olivia's," I tell her. She sighs.

"Well, I'm sorry, Ponyboy, but we have at least three times recorded of Olivia sneaking out of her bunk, and that is something we do not tolerate. I would love to make it that simple and just switch her to another bunk, but isn't that unfair to the other kids that have gotten kicked out for sneaking around? And what about the counselors who'd have to deal with her? And as for you-" she says, but I don't listen anymore.

"So, my decision is final. I'm sorry, but I think you have some packing to do," is the next thing I hear.

"How long do we have?" Olivia asks.

"Until your guardian can come get you," she says. "They will be called immediately. I would start saying your goodbyes," she says. I take Olivia's hand again, and together we walk out. She watches us as we do, and I shut the door behind me.

"We're both going to die," she cries. I put my arm around her, and we sit on the ground outside Kim's office.

"I... I was stupid, Olivia. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have even suggested that we do that again, especially when you were on such thin ice. I guess I didn't think," I tell her. She smiles weakly at me.

"I-if I didn't want to, I wouldn't have done it, Pony. Now c'mon, let's get back to our bunks," she suggests. We both stand up, and I walk her over to her bunk, even though it's on the other side of camp from mine. On the porch, I kiss her. It's a new feeling for me, especially since it's something we've only done a few times.

"It'll be okay, Olivia. I'll see you in a little while. I love you," I whisper to her. She doesn't respond as she walks away.

A/N: I'M NOT CRYING, YOU ARE. No, I think we might all be... was anyone expecting that? I've been planning it for months! Oh, and by the way, Kim is the camp director at the summer camp I CIT at. She's much nicer than this lady. -Katy
