"- and that's why I think the casting for the new Little Mermaid is elite." The girl stood by the whiteboard in the front of the room with a proud smile on her face. She looks interesting. I didn't bother learning anyone's name, but I took my time with her. If I remember correctly her name is Dee.

She's a pretty girl, dripped out in melanin and everything. A whole chocolate queen, her head was shaved, with a tuff looking design on the side.

She always has some type of print infused in her clothing, today she wore a red and light blue Kante cloth off the shoulder crop top. Her top hung a little low leaving some room to show a lil titty if she wanted, but still somehow school appropriate. This was paired with white high waisted skinny jeans and simple brown sandals. By the way she walked into the class I already know she reeks of confidence. Imma be friends with her, good friends at that.

After another hour the bell had rung signaling the end of class. This school is so depressing bruh, something needs to happen, like I need some type of party or event to go down.

I grabbed my phone from the desk, I was in no rush to leave the classroom considering my next class was just down the hall.

"Hey, Miss. Schmidt?" I rotated my body to face the teacher. He was an older man who looked to be in his late forties. He rocked a desperate comb over, that really didn't do its job, and very oily skin. He looked as if he had run some type of marathon before he got to school.

Every time I saw him he was covered in sweat. The man wasn't ugly, but he wasn't cute either. He teaches United States History and I want to switch out, he's just so weird. Like he don't even be doing anything his mere presence makes my skin crawl.

Today he donned a purple dress shirt, with the armpits soaked with sweat and some black slacks with the generic black shoes. He dressed like the average substitute teacher on the daily. I honestly believe he has some type of skin condition that makes him sweat because it's not even hot in this room and he sweats like he's walking through a desert.

To top it all off, he puts all the girls in the front of the classroom and all the boys in the back, which even if he wasn't weird is just stupid because all everyone ever does is talk. Luckily, he put me in the second row so I wasn't all up and personal with him 24/7.

I approached the man at his desk, in his arms he carried a stack of papers, watching me as I came forward. I inwardly groaned at the fact he was making me stay longer than I wanted to.

"So, Miss Schmidt, you seem to be doing well in my class," he placed the stack of papers in a bin before continuing. "Wouldn't you say the same?" My once polite smile turned into a bored expression, he's about to tell me some shit I don't need to hear.

I nodded my head in response and took a few steps towards the door, trying to signal that I wanted to leave.

"How would it make you feel if I allowed you to be my personal assistant for the rest of the year," my eyebrows furrowed in confusion. I'm doing fine in his class, but I'm nowhere need assistant level. And he put an emphasis on personal this man is sus.

"I mean, I'm not really interested in being a teacher's assistant," I spoke softly, trying to cover up my annoyance. I just want to go home and eat some chips mane.

"It would look good on your college transcript," he plead. I thought about it for a second, I could do it and my college transcript could be banging or I don't and go about my business.

This is not a hard decision at all.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Harlow. I have extracurricular activities that I do and I don't want to have too much on my plate, especially right now that I just got here," my eyes flicked to the door. This man is not catching the hint.

"Think about it," the way he said this almost made vomit rush out of my system. He sounds like an actual predator.

I sent a quick smile in response before turning and leaving the room. I didn't want to risk say anything, in a time like this I can't control what might come out of my mouth. He may be weird and possibly an offender, but he does control my grades and I just have to try and keep my distance from him.

I exited the classroom, embracing the freedom of the full hallway. I walked down the hallway to my next class, paying no mind to what was going on around me. The day is going by so slow mane.

I froze when a hand almost connected with my face, I jumped back before it could reach me as confusion danced around my face. I swiveled my head around with a look of irritation on my face, why can't I just live my life without being disturbed.

"Hi Maya," I recognized the voice as Sophia, not only did she get my name wrong, but she has the audacity to stop me in the middle of this wild hallway.

"First of all, it's Saya, and what the fuck do you want?" I shifted from foot to foot, staring this bitch down like she killed my dog.

"Yeah whatever, so I heard you're hanging out with the nerd," she flicked her hair over her shoulder as the gum in her mouth popped wildly. I rolled my eyes with such a vengeance they almost fell out.

"His name is fucking Marcus, and get the fuck out of my face. I'm already having a bad day and I'm not tryna deal with your bullshit," I tried to push past her, but once again I was blocked from doing so. Her little group of followers stood behind her laughing, only making me even more agitated.

I instantly dropped my book bag on the ground and stepped in her face. At this point, I'm ready to fight. Why the fuck was this bitch blocking my exit?

"Look, bitch, I'm not the fucking one. I will drag you across the hall and go to class right after. I'm not one of these scary ass little hoes running around. I will fuck you up." She stared at me in silence, the group behind her stopped laughing and just stared.

I hadn't noticed the small crowd of people standing around us, but I didn't care. I picked up my stuff and began for the fourth time on my way to class.

I wish somebody would stop me again.

I ended up being late to class, the teacher said if I was late again then I would have detention. Today is just not my fucking day. I moved through the halls as if there was a rain cloud over my head. My class finished, so I was on my way to lunch. I didn't even bother getting anything to eat, my appetite has been long since lost.

I sat at the table listening to some music to help calm my nerves. A few minutes passed before Marcus came to the table. I offered a weak smile as my ears were flooded with music. Marcus's presence calms me, at least there's one sane person in this building. He chewed on his food, looking around the cafeteria tentatively.

My eyebrows furrowed at this, why does this boy look like this? I pulled my earbuds out of my ears and dropped them on the table.

"What's up with you?" I asked he looked up at me with a quick smile.

"I just have to watch my back more because of the fight the other day," I nodded my head silently. I also surveyed the cafeteria for any unwanted guests that might be approaching us.

On the exact opposite of the room, a table sat with all the basics, as I liked to call them.

A whole lotta entitled lil bitches as I perceived them, they always picked on people that they thought to be "below them" makes me itch just looking at them. My eyes studied the table as it landed on the most revolting thing I could ever witness. Sophia sat on top of Kaleb as they basically ate each other. Like it didn't even look like kissing, they are for real eating each other. The roaches. Of course they're together.

Bile rose up my throat at the scene, I looked away before anything could come out.

"I see what you mean," he looked up at me with a sad smile. Considering he got jumped, he handled it better than I thought.

I relayed the events of today to him as he listened intently, just thinking about it made me mad. Like who the fuck does she think she is? I came into this school wanting no beef, but the beef found me. I'm ready to fight her whenever the time comes because I know it will.

People say fighting doesn't solve anything, but to me, it squashes everything. The way I look at it, I put all my anger into the fight so that when it's over, it's over and I feel so much better.

I don't have beef with the person, but I won't fuck with them, it's like a cleanser in a way.

"Damn, I'm sorry that you have to go through that," Marcus says popping a fry in his mouth.

"It's whatever, we just gon be beefin till we fight," I shrugged, as I grabbed a couple of fries from his tray.

He sent a playful glare my way, staring at the fires in my hand. I flashed an innocent smile before munching on the crispy fries. He shook his head in amusement before speaking.

"Why do you have to fight her?" He slid the tray to the middle of the table, making it easier for both of us to grab some of the food.

"Well, one, she keeps bothering me. Two, because I feel the urge to drag her through the halls. And lastly because she fucks with Kaleb and you don't fuck with Kaleb so I might as well," a chuckle escaped his lips at my revelation, but I'm so serious. One of these days imma drag her like a mop and that's on baby.

We talked through lunch and even made plans to hang out after school. I walked at a tired pace to my last class.Having four classes a day is the best, especially when you have third lunch. The way the schedule is set up you have four classes each semester and eight classes in total, which is smarter so you don't have all this homework to deal with and you can have somewhat of a life.

The only downside is classes are longer. Classes are called blocks instead of periods since there are only four of them, not including flex, which is just study hall. First lunch took place right after flex, which is after the first two blocks. Second lunch is halfway through third block, they would go to class then halfway through, go to lunch then back to class. And lastly, third lunch is after third block.

It was confusing when it was explained to me, but like after the first couple of days it sets in and it all makes sense. A solid force hit my back causing me to hit the floor like a brick. I sat there dazed for a second, trying to figure out what just happened.

There were papers scattered all over the floor, rude ass people stepped all over them as they walked through the halls. I began to pick them up, when I turned to my left I came face to face with the owner of the scattered papers.

It was the same girl from before, I handed her the stack in my hands and rose to my feet. She sent me a thankful smile before standing herself.

"Thank you so much! Everybody else in this school is fake for walking around on my work," she glared at the people passing by, earning a few weird looks from others.

"Right, that's what I was thinking," we giggled together as we made our way through the halls. Her laugh is something else. She laughed like a hyena off of Lion King, not gonna lie it made me laugh even harder.

"Your name is Saya, right?" I nodded my head as she continued. "What do you have next?"

"Science with Mrs. Hartman," her eyes lit up as I said this. "For real?! How have I not seen you before? I have her too," my smile grew when she said this.

We strolled to class talking about whatever came to our minds. I'm happy I found a girl at this raggedy-ass school who I can vibe with.

My day just got a lil bit better.
