Some people say History is one the most important school subjects. Other people think that, in today’s world, subjects like Science and Technology are more important than History. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Some people believe that studying History is a wise investment of students while others suggest that Science and Technology are absolutely vital subjects to the success of people  living and working in the digital era. In my essay, I would like to discuss these both views and state my own opinion hereafter. (49 words)

Teaching children History can be advantageous in today’s world. To begin with, History is not simply a subject helping people to understand the past. Indeed, History provides learners with analytical skills which can be applied
to some social aspects including job-seeking process. For example, when studying History, learners are required to answer some questions such as “Why did the Enlightenment take place?” Furthermore, studying History can raise learners’ cultural awareness of their culture and how their culture and country have evolved. Nowadays, some nations’ traditional values have been threatened with degradation on account of young generations’ indifference to learning History. Therefore, History can play a vital part in teaching children critical thinking and maintaining and preserving cultural values of their own country. (118 words)

However, there is another school of thought said that says the subjects associated with Science and Technology play a more important role than History for learners in this society. Firstly, the supporters of this idea find studying Science and Technology an invaluable tool for graduates seek a stable  working career. Society has needed a wide range of dexterous labour force, so students who major in natural science would be unlikely to worry about long-term unemployment. Secondly, thanks to investing more in studying Science and Technology, students would be able to enjoy higher quality of their life. For instance, those who master Science and Technology learners can repair any broken equipment better than the ones studying other subjects. (107 words)

In conclusion, choose to study either History or Science and Technology has been a contested matter. In my opinion, I think studying History is  essential for human life because this subject provides people with skills of analysis and problem-solving in the times of artificial intelligence.
