Recently, tourist arrivals to some destinations have increased significantly due to low costs of transportation and accommodation. The advocates for this growth claim that tourism brings positive effects to their nations while the adversaries do not support it. In my essay, I would like to present the global implications of tourism and consider whether countries should limit a massive influx of tourists. (63 words)

Admittedly, the rapid expansion of tourism can be advantageous to a place. To begin with, it creates jobs for local citizens, a positive effect on the economy of the host country. Residents have more employment opportunities thanks to the establishment of hotels, clubs, bars, souvenir shops and restaurants. Furthermore, tourism contributes to the enhancement of national culture. For example, the World Cup or the British royal wedding ceremonies have attracted hordes of tourists to the destinations. To some extent, an increase in the number of foreign visitors can serve as the catalyst for the sustainable economic growth in host countries. (100 words)

On the other hand, overcrowding in some established destinations have made the host country and local authorities mostly unprepared to deal with. Excessive visitor numbers flowing to a tourist spot concurrently have made a significant impact on the environment of the area. To cite an example, when Son Doong cave was discovered, Quang Binh province in Viet Nam has received a growing number of international tourists. As a consequence, the natural habitat in this place has been destroyed caused by irresponsible tourists. Therefore, the government and local authorities should adopt firm policies to limit overwhelming visitor arrivals to their country especially during the peak season to combat the environmental degradation. In conclusion, over-tourism can be a double-edged sword for the national development. Positive effects of this trend cannot far outweigh the natural habitat destruction in host countries.
