Life in the 21st century is better compared to the previous century. To what extend do you agree or disagree? Give reasons for your answer and include relevant examples from your own experience.

The twenty-first century has witnessed the introduction of modern technologies that have made human life in this era better than ever before. However, I partly agree with this statement because of the below-mentioned reasons.

On the one hand, living in twenty-first century can be more convenient and comfortable for human beings thanks to a revolution in science and technology. To begin with, the present century’s inventions and developments of advanced technological devices have indeed facilitated our life. For example, in the previous centuries, without high-tech industries, people had to spend much more time and physical labour to manage their daily tasks. Furthermore, people living in the present age have also reaped the benefits of globalization. It is obvious that humans all over the world can now live together in good harmony, and enjoy the greater quality of life on the global scale thanks to innovations in most of the fields in the twenty- first century.

On the other hand, people living in the twenty-first century also have had to confront with some social and psychological issues. Firstly, human beings in this epoch can be exposed to high pollution levels. The reality is that people have suffered more debilitating illnesses on account of factories and vehicles’ emissions, and endeavoured to tackle with increasingly health care concerns. Secondly, the more advanced industrial the societies are, the more stresses and strains human beings living in the present century have to cope with constant fears of either increased workloads or losing their jobs. Therefore, the past centuries’ happy and simple lifestyles have become scarce for people of this era. Psychological and emotional problems such as depression, committing suicides can be heard with a high frequency.

In conclusion, the twenty- first century advancements in technologies has made human life improved with comfort and convenience. However, its modernity has also led to some inevitable negative effects on individuals that can be hard to overcome.
