Some people believe that developments in the field of artificial intelligence will have a positive impact on our lives in the near future. Others, by contrast, are worried that we are not prepared for a world in which computers are more intelligent than humans. Discuss both of these views and give your own opinion.

People have different views on the recent advances in developing intelligent machines. The adherents of this trend believe that such development can facilitate human lives. However, the opponents think artificial intelligence could affect coming lives in a negative way. In my essay, I would discuss both of these views and state my own belief.

It is obvious that artificial intelligence will make great contribution to the whole society in some ways. To begin with, intelligent robots will be programmed to operate in various fields including risky jobs in dangerous areas. For example, some robots can explore the depth of the oceans or work underground, which helps decrease the accident rates and reduce the human efforts. Furthermore, artificial intelligence could also benefit the human by bridging the gap between the rich and the poor. Mass production with less cost will ensure the
availability of latest goods to the impoverished and remote areas.

However, some people are concerned that the technology which could take over from man will defeat people in the near future, and artificial intelligence is no exception. Firstly, there is no denying that the more prevalent AI becomes, the more volatile situation people will have run into. A broad spread of automatic machines would take away most of jobs from people. Secondly, those who are technophobes or with negative attention may wreck a havoc on others through their improper operations of the machines which otherwise are supposed to aid human functions. As a consequence, people’s lives and the society as a whole could be threatened. 

In conclusion, despite some possible demerits of artificial intelligence, it is widely believed to have produced good impact on human lives providing that it is controlled and operated where it is the most applicable as needed.
