Some teachers think that international student exchange would be beneficial for all teenage school students. Do you think its advantages will outweigh the disadvantages?

The process of globalization has enabled students of one country or place to exchange with those of another country or place to complete part of their education. Despite some obvious drawbacks of this project, in my opinion, its advantages can far outweigh its disadvantages.

On the one hand, there are few drawbacks of this international exchange programme, especially among teenage school students. Firstly, these programmes cost a considerable amount of money, which a number of students may be inaccessible. For example, students who come from developing countries would find it difficult to afford a student exchange programme in industrial nations because of the financial burden. Secondly, adolescent boys and girls could resist cultural diversity, and failed to overcome the differences between the two countries. In this case, a big culture shock could be an indispensable result and affect teenage students in negative ways.

On the other hand, I believe these international student exchange projects can be advantageous to teenage school students on various aspects. To begin with, because of international learning and knowledge, the programmes create an academic environment and help students adopt alternative, multi-faceted approaches to learning. For example, taking part in an international student exchange programme, ones can have more chances to work in a multinational environment to develop their soft skills, and take interest in global issues, as well as a broader general knowledge. Furthermore, indigenous students can have more practical experience in mingling with the local people, and learn other new languages. For example, the bond between Vietnam and Korea has been forged through cultural exchange programmes between the two countries.

In conclusion, more and more exchange programmes have brought both opportunities and challenges to teenage students to deal with. These programmes have created a good blend of educational benefits along with personality development. From my perspective, its advantages can far outweigh its disadvantages.
