Many museums and historical sites are mainly visited by tourists but not local people. Why is this the case and what can be done to attract more local people to visit these places?

It is a sad reality that local museums and historical sites nowadays can only attract foreigners tourists not the local visitors. In my essay, I would like to analyse some reasons for this reality and suggest some measures to bring increase the number of local visitors to such places. local museums and historical sites attractive again in native people’s eyes.

Local museums and historical sites fail to draw parochial local inhabitants’ attention because of caused by the  a simple reason. Governments as well as  Museums and historical sites rarely have a proper very little investment in museums’ maintenance or artifacts’ display, so these places find it hard to be visually attractive to municipal residents. Therefore, being familiar with the places and displayed artifacts, combined with a mobilised and hectic lifestyle have made people living in the neighborhood forgotten their would not pay for an entrance fee to the indigenous museums and historical sites of the area. In contrast Meanwhile, tourists from other places tend to visit boring places such as museums and historical sites in order to learn more about the local culture and tradition.  residents’ eyes turned into an attractive place to foreign visitors’. For example, when visiting the Independent Reunification Palace in Ho Chi Minh City, many both worldwide and nationwide visitors cannot take their eyes out of off the museum’s classic architecture, and are full of praise for each all artifacts in the remembrance of the South Vietnam Republic before 1975. 

To make native stimulate local people, especially adolescents, to pay more attention to preserve traditional values, visits to museums and historical sites, should find some methods can be taken to attract people. Firstly, governments should allocate a large amount of money to upgrade the regional museums and historical sites, avoid artifact repetition. For example, not only can Louvre museum welcome millions of foreign visitors annually year but also attract Parisians because of thanks to its architecture and different kinds of artifacts ranging from Renaissance art to Egyptian antiquities. In conclusion, local museums and historical sites can only attract overseas visitors from other places not provincial ones because of the two reasons as mentioned above. their curiosity. Therefore, from my point of view, Government associating in cooperation with museums and historical sites both join hand in attracting encouraging more local people to protect traditional values especially in the Americanism and globalisation era.
