Together

Wednesday recognizes the wolf in front of her, she knows it's Enid, but she doesn't understand what she looks like, it's a very common wolf, as big as a van, but a normal wolf with a brown coat.

"Enid?"

Slowly the girl approaches while the wolf scrutinizes her. It's a moment, the wolf springs and with a leap is on top of Wednesday who licks her face. The raven laughs and tries to wriggle free before being totally soaked in drool.

"Enough Enid! Enough hahaha"

On Wednesday she gets back on her feet while the wolf wags her tail and circles around her, welcoming her.

"Can you return to human form? So we can talk"

The wolf finally stops and looks her straight in the eye.

"There won't be any need"

The voice resonates in Wednesday's mind, she had never experienced telepathy and must admit that it is quite annoying, however she remains impassive even if she understands that she has made a huge mistake.

"You are not Enid"

Wednesday's statement is as cold as ice. When she heard that voice in her head, an adult, mature voice, that had nothing to do with Enid's, she felt a sense of enormous annoyance.

"Right and wrong at the same time. I am a part of her, I am the part that makes her a wolf."

Wednesday nods coldly. She had never heard anything like it, she knew that a werewolf can have a completely different character once transformed, but that wasn't the case with Enid. The wolf might become more territorial and follow her animal instincts more, but she was still Enid. The one in front of her is definitely not her.

"What are you doing here? If I understand correctly this is a mental prison built by Goody in my body's mind, how did you get here?"

The wolf looks away from the girl and begins to look around. She walks slowly, sniffing around the room, a few minutes pass before she responds to a Wednesday that doesn't reveal how short of patience he is.

"I managed to reach you thanks to a spell. You see, normally the spirit of the wolf and the soul of the human who hosts it are bound until the death of the latter and it would not be possible for the wolf spirit to separate from it to wander through the astral planes."

The wolf continues to turn her back on Wednesday, still sniffing and scanning the room as if she were looking for something.

"But he, I still don't understand how it's possible, he used a spell that had never existed in the history of magic, it almost seems like it was designed for this specific occasion. To help Enid in the condition she's in at the moment"

Wednesday finally betrays herself, with a few quick strides she brings herself in front of the wolf girl. The beast has its ears pricked, it has heard her, when Wednesday became agitated the prison shook and destabilized for a second.

"Spit it out! What happened to Enid? Why didn't you tell me right away!?"

The wolf girl now sniffs Wednesday as she circles her.

"I was looking for a way to get you out. While I can retrace my steps you can't follow me, you have to destroy this mental barrier and face the parasite to be able to free yourself"

Wednesday is red with anger. This stupid wolf is ignoring her.

"Listen to me you stupid fleabag!"

The girl turns to face the wolf that was behind her at that moment but what she sees leaves her speechless. The wolf is slowly taking human form and immediately Wednesday recognizes Enid's eyes and features, but what she has in front of her is a grown woman... nude.

"I took this form to make you understand that I am not an entity alien to your Enid, I am a part of her"

Wednesday is motionless, frozen, doing everything she can not to review the (too mature) Enid in front of her.

"Enid was cursed by Goody with the kiss of death, but not the one you know, one that has been altered to act faster. So it is imperative that you-"

This time it is the woman who falls silent. The castle has started to shake. What were once candle chandeliers are replaced with those with light bulbs that turn on and off intermittently. Even the furniture, the walls and the floors change and when the earthquake finally stops, the one where the two are standing is no longer the Nevermore, but the atrium of the Addams Manor.

Adult Enid looks around in disbelief, no one knows more than she does, how powerful and deep the bond between Enid and Wednesday is, but what Wednesday just did has left her speechless. Modern wolves and humans have far too underestimated the power of the bond.

Goody had finally managed to leave the academy. She had to kill some Hydes to do so but now she is speeding towards Jericho.

As much as she hates it, she needs the smelly, crude means of transportation of the Normals to get to Addams Manor as quickly as possible and retrieve her body.

She is walking at a marching pace when a movement in the shadows of the trees makes her stop. The witch continues to scan the bush, slowly shifting her gaze as if she were following something that is not visible. A simple and sudden gesture of the hand and a splinter of black-purple energy shoots out very quickly, hitting something that emits a bellowing of pain, a Hyde with his belly pierced through and through comes furiously out of the bush, but he doesn't take two steps before another splinter pierces his skull.

Goody stands still with her arm still outstretched towards her latest victim when at least a dozen Hydes emerge from hiding and surround her.

"We'll finally see each other again, Wednesday.... Or maybe you prefer Willa now?"

Tyler Galpin's mocking look emerges from the darkness.

"I didn't believe that the great Wednesday Addams would turn her back on her beloved school and her new lesbian lover, and run away with her tail between her legs like a coward!"

Tyler is now one step away from her and realizes too late, when he meets her eyes, that the girl in front of him, the girl who is smiling at him in that perverse way at this moment, is definitely not Wednesday.

The poor boy can't even see her clearly. All of a sudden Wednesday raised her hand towards the sky and from it a ball of black and purple light was generated that began to shoot shards of the same color at a chilling speed that in a few seconds killed all the Hydes.

Tyler had just enough time to realize this before Wednesday shot him too. The bullet pierced his spleen and sent him sprawling to the ground.

"Galpin..... You know..... You could have been useful to me"

Before Wednesday can finish it, a sharp pain in her head hits her and brings her to her knees. She feels the mental prison she had built crumble and a palace being built in its place, she sees Wednesday smiling ready to do battle with Enid at her side. Tyler takes advantage and runs as fast as he can towards the Nevermore.

"You disgusting bitch, how is that possible!? I took pity on you! I wanted to give you the most compassionate death there is!"

One last grunt of anger and Goody gets back on her feet and storms off towards the Nevermore.

Without realizing it, a man came up behind Professor Silivieri and hit him on the head with a club and now the man is lying on the ground unconscious.

"I didn't think it would work"

Stephan is genuinely surprised that his old comrade in arms would let himself be taken from behind by some random guy who only has a quarter of his brain functioning.

"Well done, but now transform and lend a hand to the others. Principal Coleman and his team could be a problem."

The boy leaves the dorm with Jacob still alive as a last act of mercy. He knows he must go back even further to succeed, and he needs all the Aztec and Mayan research he can find. There was nothing useful in the book he stole from the Nightshade's library. But he knows for a fact that what he seeks is at the Nevermore.

Together with his squadron of Hydes he heads towards the principal's office, it is one of the few places he has not checked. However, the creatures suddenly become restless and even Stephan feels that it is too quiet for a school under siege.

"So you must be the son of Laurel Gates? You came here to carry out your massacre but I will stop you from continuing!"

Principal Coleman stands tall at the top of the stairs in the main building lobby, his entire team positioned, surrounding and holding Stephan at gunpoint. Coleman slowly begins to descend the stairs.

"Son? I guess that's the story Jacob fed you... No, I'm his nephew, my father is currently training in some Eastern European country."

The principal stops.... Jacob? Who gave him that information was Mark Silivieri....

"Something doesn't add up. From what I understand, you're implying that Laurel Gates is your grandmother...."

Stephan smiles. He starts to climb the stairs too, the Hydes following right behind him and not taking their eyes off the principal.

"And this doesn't make sense to you, because either my grandmother and my father had a child at 14.... Or I shouldn't already be a teenager."

Principal Coleman stops halfway up the stairs. Simmons and her comrades release the safety catches on their guns, knowing that shooting a Hyde with them would be like using a blowpipe on a rhinoceros. The tension is rising and everyone can feel it.

"Tell me shaman, Jaco- that is Mark Silivieri, what a stupid name, what exactly did he tell you? He has never been a great liar so I would really like to understand how he deceived someone of your experience"

Coleman turns up his nose. Obviously he knew that Silivieri had lied to him about many things, but he really doesn't understand what the point was if he also wanted to stop Gates, but above all he doesn't like where the boy in front of him is going.

"I knew Silivieri was keeping something from me, but he seemed honest about stopping you. From the way you talk about it, though, it sounds like you knew each other well."

Stephan nods amusedly. Obviously Jacob did everything to preserve things as they were creating a cover.

"He probably hoped he could stop me on his own, and yes, where we came from we were best friends fighting for the same cause, to free the world from the tyranny of the greatest and most evil witch history has ever known."

Principal Coleman is now sure of where Gates wants to go. But he doesn't want to believe it. He is a shaman, he may not be as powerful as European or South American sorcerers, but his connection to the power that constitutes magic and his knowledge of the subject are far superior to anyone else on the American continent and he has never heard of anything like this.

"Jacob went out of his way to prevent me from figuring out where it came from, probably before he could get to me. They did some research on how that particular spell works, but I don't give a damn, after all we are living in a fantasy version of Terminator."
