The devil risen from hell

Wednesday is sitting in a huge leather chair in what will be the Nevermore principal's office. From what she can see now it is more of a personal study. She had hoped to be able to get some information, but she quickly realized that this mental world is far from perfect, the books and notes on the desk are all filled with letters arranged haphazardly. The paintings on the walls are mostly shadows of blurry landscapes and even the view from the window is just a thick white fog.

"Ufff.... I have to find a way to leave, there's no point in wasting any more energy, this world isn't physical... I have to focus on my mind"

Taking advantage of the enormous size of the chair, Wednesday crosses her legs and gets into a meditation position.

Goody arrives in the Nevermore's basement, walking briskly between the werewolf cages until she reaches a specific cage.

"Let's see if this body still has enough strength"

After casting the "kiss of death" on Enid, accelerating it, and creating the blocking barrier on the room, Goody felt her descendant's body weaker. She was ashamed to Wednesday of how weak her body, such a perfect conductor of magic, was even more so than her own. When she gets her powers back, she will become a goddess on earth.

"Indeed, I will be the devil risen from hell"

Goody opens the cage door, holds out her open hand facing the floor.

"Poder oscuro que está en mis órdenes revela la entrada secreta al que sólo responde a mi sangre y la respira"

The floor tiles of the cage glow with a purple energy and slowly begin to retract, as if folding in on themselves. Goody sees that with every second that passes the passage slows its opening, so she forces Wednesday's body further to channel more power and a trickle of blood runs down her nose. When the passage is opened it reveals a wide spiral staircase.

Goody wastes no time in starting to descend the stairs, with a single wave of her hand she lights the torches on the sides of the wall and remains petrified when her grandfather's eyes stare at her intensely from a picture hanging on the wall.

"Stupid old man, I insisted so much with this stupid nickname that many in the village didn't even know my real name. As a child I adored it, I was your little Goody, then from affection I began to feel fear and disappointment from you. When you discovered that I was trying to make the world our paradise by freeing us from the normals, after they took my mother, your daughter, from me! You still insisted on living with them!"

Goody looks away and starts walking down the steps again, ignoring the successive portraits of the most immediate members of her family. When she reaches the bottom of the steps, a not too large room opens up before her, with a small altar in the center on which are placed melted candles, now mummified flowers and many small and large portraits of her mother Esperanza.

Behind the shrine is a simple stone sarcophagus with a simple inscription engraved:

Esperanza Addams, amada hija y madre, vida y corazón de su familia.

"My dear mother, I am sorry to disturb you in your eternal rest, but I need your help. You may not have been a great witch, in fact, you were not really suited for magic, according to your great-grandmother you were the disappointment of the family, but your altruism and your heart of gold led you to be the most loved and well-liked by everyone, the white sheep of the Addams. That's how they called you in the village of normals."

Goody gently strokes the sarcophagus, makes a complete turn around before stopping beside it. A solitary tear runs down the girl's pale face at the memory of her mother who died so cruelly. Goody extends her hand, her eyes shining with a bright purple glow and the sarcophagus vibrates for a few seconds before slowly starting to move.

A grimace of fatigue appears on Goody's face and again a trickle of blood comes out of her nose.

"Damn! Stupid little girl! Stupid family that denied the power of our own blood!"

The glow in his eyes flashes like a light bulb that is about to burn out and finally goes out completely. Goody looks around resignedly, it will take her body some time before she can start channeling dark energy again. In a corner of the small crypt she sees a long candelabra and grabs it, inserts the flat and thin base into the small gap that has been created between the sarcophagus and the lid.

"Well Wednesday, let's see if your stupid training was any good"

The girl begins to push on the candelabra, intending to use it as leverage. Goody is surprised at how little effort she has to use to move the stone lid of the sarcophagus and knock it to the floor.

Now before her, her mother's remains rest under a veil of white cloth, so deteriorated that the features of the woman's now mummified face can be glimpsed. Goody is somewhat relieved not to have to look directly at her mother's remains, she knew she might falter.

"Your power may be meager, but it will help me get to my body without anyone getting in my way."

Goody stretches out her hand, the body under the white veil lights up with a white pink light and vines of the same color begin to branch out from it, but something happens when they touch the girl, they almost seem to vibrate, as if they had received a shock, their color begins to change into a dull purple with black shades. Even Goody who until a moment before had started to shine with a faint purple light, now begins to cover herself with a dark, dull purple-black light. Once the body under her mother's veil stops shining, Goody knows she has assimilated all the remaining power from the remains of the poor woman.

"Damn mother, if only from your hundred-year-old remains I could extract all this power, you were not inept, or defective as great-grandmother said, you were powerful, but you chose not to use that power. What a foolish woman"

Goody turns her back on her mother's sarcophagus and hurries back up the stairs.

Behind her, the veil covering the woman's body becomes stained with blood near her eyes and slowly turns to dust.

"Guys!"

Xavier is frozen in fear as he stares at the window. It was a moment but he is sure of what he saw. Everyone, except Yoko, turns to him, seeing the dismay on his face and Professor Silivieri immediately goes on alert.

"What did you see Thorpe!?"

The boy looks away from the window and into the professor's eyes. Now everyone is afraid, Xavier's face seems more gaunt than usual and he is pale as a corpse.

"Thorpe!"

Slowly Xavier returns his gaze to the window, another lightning bolt lights up the darkness and this time it is not just a shadow, Xavier sees it clearly, a huge Hyde is on the balcony of the room looking straight into his eyes with his bloodshot eyes and claws itching to commit a massacre. Professor Silivieri also sees him and immediately throws himself in front of Enid, pushes her towards Yoko who is kneeling next to the bed and finds her friend in her arms. Mark's sudden move triggered the Hyde who throws himself through the window causing it to shatter, shards of black and rainbow glass fly all over the room, everyone closes their eyes and shields their faces with their arms. Xavier is hit first by a lash from the creature, which fortunately hits him with the back of his hand rather than with his sharp claws. The Hyde doesn't have time to turn to the other boys when a red bolt hits him in the face, making him lose his balance and stumble into the bed on Wednesday, falling to the floor.

"Yoyo, take Enid, go to the principal! Petropolus, you take Xavier and the rest of you go! Run away immediately!"

Yoko has picked up Enid even before the professor orders her to and now she runs down the stairs of the dormitory with the girl in her arms followed by her friends but a blood-curdling scream makes them all stop. From the floor at the bottom of the flights of stairs they are descending comes a fellow dormitory member covered in blood.

"Megan! What's going on?"

The poor girl has terror painted on her face, she is covered from head to toe in splashes of blood that are slowly soaking all over her white pajamas with the yellow ducks.

Divina overtakes Yoko and tries to get closer to the terrified girl, but before she can take the last step, a Hyde appears from around the corner and throws himself on the poor girl, starting to tear her to pieces.

"Go! Go! Go!"

Eugene screams as he rushes past everyone to push Yoko and make her move. Everyone recovers from their shock but still in disbelief at what just happened before their eyes. As they run down the stairs more and more screams spread throughout the dormitory, they know what it means and all of them have started to shed copious tears. When they reach the ground floor they find themselves in front of a petrified Hyde and one of their Gorgon companions who is helping the others to escape.

"Kassandra! Where is Simmons?"

The gorgon finally frames the boys. There is panic on her face, her hat is put on haphazardly, from which she does not remove her hand ready to take it off at the first sign of danger.

"She used me as a weapon to petrify the monster and then I think she ran to her room after yelling at me to help the others escape"

Gunshots suddenly drown out the screams. Ajax looks toward the stairs and then looks at Kassandra.

"Kent helps Xavier, I'll stay to help Simmons and Kassandra"

Ajax passes the still dazed boy to his friend, exchanges a knowing look with the other gorgon and together they begin to climb the stairs.

The rest of the boys rush out of the dormitory and head towards the main building and soon realize that the situation is the same throughout the academy.

Once the boys have left the room, Professor Silivieri smirks, in his hand appears a globe of light more refined and calm than the impetuous lightning bolts he has launched so far. The sphere of light is at first as big as Mark's hand but slowly it gets smaller.

The monster slowly rises, the professor waits for Hyde to look up and meet his sadistic smile, before the globe, now as big as a marble, shoots off at the speed of light and leaves a clean and smoking hole between the monster's eyes, piercing his skull from side to side. It takes a few seconds before the creature collapses dead.

*Clap* *Clap* *Clap*

The professor turns and on the balcony, lashed by the wind and rain, a hooded figure slowly applauds.

The figure slowly approaches the window and once inside his boots squeak on the shards of glass as he calmly removes the hood of his long dark green windbreaker.

"For how long, I've heard that now.... You call yourself Mark Silivieri, right?"

The smirk on the professor's face disappears at the sight of the boy he knows all too well.

"Stephan Gates.... so you're really doing this, you really came all the way here to exterminate them all, to create your twisted paradise on the foundations of genocide?"

Stephan's grin also disappears from his face and he now looks at the man in front of him with an accusatory look. On the balcony behind him, three more Hydes appear, one, the largest, enters the room and stands beside his master.

"You see...... Mark..... My father's last words were: Go son, do what you were born to do and make me proud for the first time in your life. Beautiful words to say to your son on your deathbed, I've been a disappointment to him since I was born. And your mother? What did she say to you as she breathed her last?"

Mark looks back at him angrily.

"Your father always loved you and he certainly wouldn't have wanted a genocide, he wasn't like your grandmother or the rest of your family, he wanted to live with the outcasts, not exterminate them!"

"HE WAS WEAK! If he had wanted to, he would have won that war much sooner, before she took everything from us, before she took away from YOU the person you loved more than anything!"

"DON'T YOU DARE TALK ABOUT HER!"

The roar of the Hyde makes them both look away. As the professor approached his master, the creature had placed itself in front of him to protect him.

Stephan grins again, the screams that can be heard throughout the dorm telling him that his Hydes are doing a good job.

"It seems to me that you don't care about avoiding genocide, you just want to save them, right?"

Mark looks away. He knows he can't hide it, Stephan knows him well, too well.

"After everything your mother has done, the pain, the fear, the abuse she has inflicted on poor innocents, both normal and outcast. I am the one who, to prevent it from happening again, does not have to kill everyone. After all... She does not kill all the normals, how else could she enjoy herself? Without her little slaves?"

Professor Silivieri once again keeps his gaze on the floor. He knows that Stephan is right, that it would be easier this way, but he cares too much about his life and seeing his Mom again.

"ANSWER ME JACOB! ARE YOU REALLY THAT SELFISH OR DO YOU WANT TO SAVE THE WORLD LIKE WE'VE ALWAYS DREAMED OF?!"

The Hydes roar and "Mark" looks back at Stephan. This time the anger shines through in the red light shining in his irises.

Wednesday is trying everything but nothing happens, if that really is a mind palace Goody has full power and she is nobody.

The girl is distracted by a very loud roar and immediately jumps up to head towards the door of the study. When she opens it, the scene that presents itself to him is incredible. The door that she tried with all her strength to break down is completely in pieces and among the pieces of wood, in the center of the entrance hall of the Nevermore, stands proudly a beautiful and enormous wolf with a brown coat and blue eyes that shine with their own light.

"Enid".
