My Basketball Career

So I started playing basketball when I was around 6 or 7 years old. Now if I had to say if I was good or not, I was pretty good at the time.

For the first few years, I played pee wee for an Arkansas school, then I played again at another school after I moved. Of course, I don't remember much from those early years.

Then after I moved to Louisiana when I was 8, I played Upward basketball for a church instead of school. At this point, I began to actually get an interest in the sport.

There was a reason why I chose not to play school sports in Louisiana. I was getting bullied way too much to even try to do it.

I knew that it would result in disaster if I tried.

So I played church basketball instead, and I didn't regret it.

Okay, I may have lied a little. I did try playing school basketball.

I played three seconds late in the fourth quarter. After that, I wanted to quit because they decided to play the "popular" kids.

I'll talk about popularity sometime soon, as well as bullying, if you guys want me too.

Now that I think about it, maybe I shouldn't have quitted school basketball. I don't know.

But I didn't think that it would've been worth it, because of the bullying.

Upward basketball is where they didn't care about favoritism or popularity. They were fair to the kids in playing time.

And because of that, I continued to try.

After my Upward career was over, due to because it only lasted to 6th grade, I moved to Texas, where I live now.

7th grade rolled around, and this is when I actually got cut from playing.

My mom made me believe that it wasn't fair because I just moved there.

Of course it was fair. If it wasn't, then there wouldn't even be tryouts.

Honestly, I'm not sure what caused my downfall. If I had to guess, it was because of the bullying, and that really lowered my self esteem.

Then I moved to a different school in 8th grade, Lorena.

I tried out there too, and I made the team.

I may have been a secondary small forward, but I began to climb back into the game a good bit.

In 9th grade I decided not to do basketball because I became more interested in football, and that was fine.

Just do what you're passionate of doing.

This upcoming 10th grade, I'm not sure if I should try out or not.

I was fortunate that I escaped the hell I was thrown into. I'm not bullied in Lorena.

But I know that I only got lucky. I'll talk more into bullying another time.

That's all I have for now.
