Clan Five: The Reformed Clan, Fallen Feathers.
My Fallen Feathers OC, Fawnbriar!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Context: Long, long ago, battle and sickness made a fifth Clan, FeatherClan, collapse. They all died out, or so everyone thought. But a small group of Warriors, cats that survived the original sickness and turmoil, fled and reformed a Clan-like group. However, there was tension in that group, and it split, leaving one group to grow and flourish beyond the borders of the Four Clans, and one group to fall into indecency, becoming no better than rogues. I give you, group one, Fallen Feathers.
Traits and Territory:
Most Common Eye Color: Since they are formed mostly of unrelated members, there is no definitive common eye colour.
Common Pelts and Patterns: Same as the eye colour, there are no definitive pelt colours, although lighter colours tend to be more prominent.
Personality: Knowledgeable, gracious and empathetic, Fallen Feathers cats tend to be peaceful, only engaging negatively with other cats when threatened. They have a very good knowledge of herbs, plants and nature, and relationships are tight-woven and deep among Group Members, friends and kin. They have a weak knowledge of fighting moves, and if attacked, use terrain and negotiation to defend themselves, rather than fighting and risking injury or death. If a Group Member passes away, they grieve deeply and tend to take breaks from work in recovery. They have different beliefs from other commonly found groups and Clans and look up to a different higher power, known as Endless Sky.
Trademark: None
Special Rules:
1: Cats Cannot Fight, Kill, or Injure Their Groupmates, Unless in Self Defence.
2: Mothers, kits, apprentices, and Storytellers must be fed first.
3: Cats May Not Turn to Twolegs for Help of Any Kind.
4: Duties Must Be Shared Among all Members, Equally.
5: Cats May Not Discriminate One Another for Different Beliefs, Sexuality or Strengths/Weaknesses.
Voice: Slightly accented, smooth and even, they tend to be very expressive when talking.
Territory/Land: A thick forest, with a meadow-like glade surrounding it. Dappled in shade or shining with sunlight, anywhere you go in their territory tends to be welcoming and peaceful. They take great care to keep their forest and meadow safe and will tend and nurse flowers and herbs, forming large garden-like areas. A creek runs through the forest, and some members enjoy a swim, while others shy away from the lazy flow. Large trees, old and moss-covered make up a majority of the forest and offer safety and sanctuary from wind, rain, snow or bright sun.
Camp: A clearing, bordered with blackberry bushes, and flowering plants. Soft grass covers the ground, and most dens are built under large bushes, but the Caretaker Den is built inside an old hollow stump, and the Leaders den is in the branches of a large alder tree, on the edge of the camp. A small pool of water sits as a drinking source, valuable herbs are grown in a small cove, surrounded by moss. Nests are built from soft, plush moss, grass and vines, and some cats like to put a layer of flower petals or feathers below them. The clearing is sheltered in Greenleaf, but quite exposed in Leafbare, due to the lack of leaves. The clearing slopes gradually up, offering a bit of shelter from any wind that makes it through the trees. On that slope, several flat rocks jut out, offering shade and a great place to get some sun on their pelts.
Most Common Cause of Death: Preditors like foxes and badgers, and old age.
Favourite Prey: Birds, like sparrows and starlings, and also small prey like mice, voles and moles.
Biggest Enemy: Broken Wings group.
Biggest Allegiance: None.
Borders: None, at least no close ones.
Respect From Other Groups: 4/10 (from Broken Wings)
My OCs From Fallen Feathers: None yet, potential one in progress.
Special Fighting Techniques:
-Height Advantage: Cats will climb into a tree, onto a hill or the bank of a river or creek, and either hide there or jump down from the height onto their enemy.
-Moss Choke: Cats will grab a pawful of moss, grass or leaves, and shove it in their enemy's mouth, choking or cutting off their breathing, allowing them to scramble away or get some hits in.
Unique Herbs:
-Violets: Small, delicate, purple flowers, found in spring. Used as an anti-inflammatory, or treatment against infection or blood poisoning. It can also be used for tight chests or coughs when mixed with honey.
-Chamomile: Daisy-like, small flowers with long stems. Used as a calming technique for grieving cats, or cats under stress or shock, and can also treat insomnia or sleeplessness.
-Pale Blossom: (made up) Large, round-leafed, blossoms of pink, yellow or purple. Used on fresh cuts to keep infection away, help with scabbing, and reduce the risk of scarring.
-Lavender: Tall, small blossomed purple flowers. Used for head pain, headaches, nervous breakdowns and exhaustion.
-Birds-Egg-Blossom: (made up) Small, round, bird-egg blue blossoms. Used to treat trouble with eyes, or internal issues like stomach aches.
Clan Legends and Stories:
How Fallen Feathers was formed:
Long, long ago, we were a Clan called FeatherClan. We lived with four other Clans, EmberClan, RippleClan, MeadowClan and BleakClan. But a great sickness spread across the Clan, and cats were dying. The other Clans refused to help us- partly because it was Leafbare, and no one had herbs, and partly because they just didn't want to. But a brave group of Warriors went out in search of herbs and got lost. They didn't make it back in time, and the Clan had died out except for a queen and her kits. They left, forming their Clan. That Clan flourished for a while until tension developed, and the Clan split under two different leaders. One became us, Fallen Feathers, and one became Broken Wings. We became peaceful and developed our own vocabulary and set of rules, and territory. Broken Wings became bitter and vengeful, seeking to destroy us for simply being more well-off, and the four Clans for not helping them all those seasons ago.
Trivia, Explanations, Details:
-Cats do not receive their full name until they become Providers. For example, a kit will be born with a name like Vine, become an apprentice and then Provider, with a name like Vineswirl.
-Fallen Feathers cats almost always wear a plant or flower in their fur. It often reflects their personality or name.
-Same-gender couples are welcomed in Fallen Feathers, and fully accepted. Nectarbloom and Juniperwing are in a relationship, and Yew is in question about how she feels.
-Fallen Feathers will accept loners, rogues and kittypets, but they have to prove they are trustworthy and loyal.
The Broken Wings chapter is coming soon!!
