(Chapter Twenty-Eight)
"I'll get her to the old Compton manor yard, you just need to be ready.'' Cody said, ''Practice this spell for the next two days. Practice it in the morning, study hall, dinner, every moment you can. You need to make sure you mesmerize this spell or it won't work. Even I would have to have to practice.''
''No pressure.'' I said sarcastically.
''This is serious, Jaycee.'' Cody said.
''What if it doesn't work?" I asked.
''Then we have one pissed off black magic witch.'' he said. He tapped the piece of old paper, ''This spell is over seven hundred years old, it'll work.''
I took a deep breath and took it. It seemed normal in my hands, but after a few second it seemed as if paper after paper was adding on to the weight. ''So, this is suppose to drain the darkness out of her?"
''And a little bit of her light.'' he said.
''And all of this will get put into her.'' Hermes said, snatching it from me and I huffed.
''I don't know that, there could be a chance.'' he said. ''Or the black magic will effect her. But Jaycee should be fine, she's strong. She will only do this once, she'll be fine.''
''I'll be fine.'' I said, not wanting to give out to Cody who will also be doing this. Doing half the job won't make me crazy. . .I hope, ''I just have to remember my Latin lessons I took.'' I sarcastically said since the spell was in Latin. It wasn't very long, but it still freaked me out.
''You just have to say them, not know what they mean.'' he said. ''Hermes will help you--shit, I should be getting back.'' he said when he looked at the clock. ''Compton manor in the yard at six o'clock this Saturday.''
Hermes and I watched Cody leave. I took the paper back and sighed, ''Yeah, no pressure.'' I said.

I guess I knew my dad would avoid it when I came home. I kept giving him looks like 'yeah, I know' but I didn't want to come out and say it at dinner.
Dad cut a piece of his steak and brought it to his mouth. He groaned half way chewing, ''What Jaycee?" he asked, not looking at me from his plate.
''Hermes told me about your little talk.'' I said and he set his fork down, looking up at me.
''Great, its all settled.'' he said.
''Settled?" my mom questioned. ''Scott, Jaycee, what's going on?"
''Nothing.'' we both said and she scoffed.
''Scott Elliot Russo!'' my mom said and he groaned again.
''So Hermes has a little ex girlfriend problem.'' he said, shrugging as if it was nothing. ''He wanted some help getting rid of her. She's apparently a little crazy. . .in his words addicted to black magic.''
My mom eyes widen and she turned to Jace, ''Jace, upstairs.''
''What?" he asked loudly. He shook his head, ''No! I wanna see Jaycee get in trouble.''
She gave him a little, ''One--''
''Oh come on, mom, I'm 13, that doesn't scare me anymore.'' he snorted.
''Two, Jace Richard Russo, don't make me get to three.'' she warned him and he sighed, getting and went upstairs. She pushed her plate away, ''Now, explain.''
''It's nothing.'' my dad said, not looking at her but his bread roll. ''Jaycee and I just need to do a little spell to drive out the craziness.''
''Since no one believes I can handle it myself.'' I said.
''What?" my mom questioned. ''When will this crazy stuff end? Why can't things be normal?"
''Abby, you know normal went out the window when we met. What isn't normal is finding out your family are witches and warlocks. That's not normal. he said, chewing on his steak.
''What's isn't normal how how I saw Gabriel at Mina parents house a year ago!" she said and my father started coughing. He hit at his chest and I made a face when he coughed out the chunk of meat out onto the table.
''What?" he yelled, eyes getting dark.
I raised an eyebrow, ''Who's Gabriel?"
''No one.'' they both said quickly.
''Well he sure sounds like someone.'' I said, rolling my eyebrow,
''He's the dirt to this family. No, he's worse!'' my dad said. ''Why am I just hearing about this?"
''I didn't want drama being brought in! I haven't seen him since." my mom defended herself. ''They didn't even see me. I wanted to move on with my life! If I would have told you, you would have done something I wouldn't want you to do. Drama keeps finding us though!"
''What happened to you wasn't drama!" my dad said. ''It was a crime! I only didn't kill him because my dad knew him being disowned by his everyone in the family would kill him.''
Oh, that's Gabriel, I thought. My parents don't keep stuff from us, we would have found out from someone.
''Look, this is about Jaycee!" my mom said. ''Who is this girl?" she asked me.
''A girl Hermes dated before and he broke up with he because she been using dark magic. It makes them crazy, like being on drugs. Well, she came out to try and get back together with him, but she got pissed when she learned who I was.'' I said, biting my nail. ''Now she won't leave.''
My mom scoffed, ''I never get told anything until the last minute!" she said, getting up from the table and grabbed her plate.
''Oh come on Abigail!" my dad groaned and hit his head. ''Great and on the day her period ends, had to ruin tonight plans.'' he said, sounding like he was talking out loud but it still grossed me out.
''Ew dad!" I said in disgust as I got up. I reached into my pocket and took out a index card with the spell on it and on the other side was how to pronounce them, ''Here, we got two days. You have to mesmerize it perfectly.''
He didn't look happy, but took it,

(Hermes)
I groaned in frustration since the remote only shook, not lift.
My mom came in, put a plate of apples slices in front me, ''Here, apples will help you concentrate more.'' she said.
''Thanks.'' I said, holing my hand out to the remote. ''Lift.'' I said but it just shook again.
''It's going to take a couple of tries.'' she said, petting my head.
''No, I'm just not strong enough.'' I said, running my fingers threw my blonde hair. ''Jaycee could probably do it on the first try.''
''You're still the warlock.'' she said. ''She will always be a werewolf.''
''She's powerful.'' I said. "You know how's that's a little embarrassing? I ignored it with Lucinda, but Jaycee. . .I feel like I'm not good enough.''
''Hermes, don't say that.'' she said, sitting down next to me. I groaned, looking away when I knew no good was coming up. I didn't have to see in her head to know it wasn't. ''Jaycee shouldn't even be your concern.''
''Mom, stop.'' I said, feeling angry that she said that. If Jaycee was any normal girl, I probably wouldn't care but my mom offending Jaycee pissed me off.
''No, Hermes, listen.'' she said. ''I thought. . .Uncle Ivan always said you could come stay with him a little while. You did say he could teach you allot of stuff. Like levitation.''
''I'm fine.'' I said.
''But Hermes, you said once the chance comes up, you wouldn't let anything sto--''
"Mom!" I said coldly as I got up from the couch and looked down at her, ''I said no.'' I turned and walked over to the stairs, but then I stopped when I finally had the courage to tell her. I turned to her, "Mom, it's my life. Stop trying to act like you know what's best.''
''Hermes, I only want what's best for you.'' she said, giving me this look like she was hurt and I felt bad, but I had to keep going.
''No, you wanted me stay with Lucinda and rise the Robertson statues. I like Jaycee-no, I love her. She's may not be the girl you wanted me with but it happened. I'm not going anywhere, not again.'' I said. ''Jaycee weird, loud, sarcastic, and funny, I love that about her. I'm not going to leave her again. You can either be happy for me that I actually acting like I have a soul again or you can just leave me alone.''
''You're my son.'' she said, her blue eyes getting wet.
''And I'm her mate.'' I said and her face pained. ''I'm both things, but I'm not a kid anymore so I make my own decisions. Be happy, accept her, and we can all get along. You don't know how important it is to Jaycee that you accept her, she just hiding behind that snarky mask. You're at fault why it's bad between you both also.''
She looked down at her boots for a moment. She grabbed a strain of her blonde hair and sighed, ''Fine,'' she said, walking over to me with that strong look on her face. ''Invite her over tomorrow for dinner and I'll be much nicer, Promise.''
I smiled at her and she hugged me.
