Author's POV

"You will regret this one day, Saran. Just mark my words," Krishna Ram warned his son in his austere voice.

"No...I would never regret it. You are my father, yet you still support that bitch and her bastard son. I don't know what magic she has done for you to believe that she is innocent. I have shown you all the evidence which proves that she had indeed planned to elope with Varun," Saran sneered.

"Look, Saran...Just a piece of a document doesn't prove anything. You were not like this when Yadhu was born, were you? You loved him, right. You were excited to hold him in your hands the day he was born. Then what happened. Just because someone says that he is not your son doesn't change the truth. And how can you decide to do a DNA test on him...he is your own blood...I will never trust those reports...It can always be false."

"Moreover, you and Nandhini loved each other so much. I know who created misunderstandings between you both. And because of those misunderstandings, you ruined Nandhini and Yadhu's life, "Krishna Ram tried to talk some sense into his stubborn son.

"You are right, dad. I loved Nandhini ...I loved her so much. Even though she was an orphan and didn't match our family status, I loved her and married her. I was never bothered about her family status. But how did she repay me? By cheating on me behind my back, having an affair with my manager, and eloping with him. Do you know the humiliation I faced? People used to taunt me all the time, saying I was not man enough to satisfy my wife. That's why she left me and eloped with her lover. I trusted her so much, but her betrayal shattered me. And Yadhu...when people mocked me that he might be the result of my wife's affairs, never once did I trust any of those. But I wanted to confirm and tell the world that he is indeed my blood and flesh. That's the only reason I ran that DNA test...but little did I know that the results will destroy me beyond repair. All I did was love her unconditionally, and all I received was deception. Though she is dead, I will never forgive her for this nor will ever accept her bastard as mine," Saran vented out his frustration to his father.

"Don't believe in all that you see. Sometimes our beliefs can be false. Say whatever you want to say...I will never believe that Yadhu isn't my grandchild, even if god himself appears before me and says it. I don't need any test to know whether he is my blood or not. And Nandhini...sorry to say this, son...you never trusted her nor did you love her...she was just a trophy wife for you. Remember, I was the one against you when you decided to marry Nandhini. The old proud Krishna Ram couldn't digest the fact that you were about to marry an orphan. But all my misconceptions changed when I met Nandhini. She didn't walk into your parent's life as a daughter-in-law...she was indeed a daughter to us. One could feel that she had a majestic aura around her. I remember you could not handle our small company and you sort to drinking and crying all day. It was Nandhini's efforts that made our company what it is today...never forget that. I remember how she single-handedly managed work and home. She lived for us...yet you started mistrusting her...why?...because some people began spouting nonsense about a successful woman. I pity you, Saran. You never deserved her."

"Dad...You..."Saran tried to protest, but his father cut him off harshly.

"Whatever you are doing to Yadhu now is cruelty. You don't realize the depth of the sin you are committing. It's ok if you don't consider him your son...at least you should have considered him a human being. Let's just say his mother betrayed you...but what was his fault...Maybe the test results say that he is not your son...but you can consider him an orphan, right? You, your wife, and your favorite son Harsh go to an orphanage every year to show off and give a speech about adopting kids and giving them a life...at least you can consider him an orphan adopted by you, right?"

"Yadhu never created any problem for you ...neither in school nor in his life till now. He always used his scholarships to complete his studies. I was the person who forced him to take up medicine. Even then, he took a student loan to complete his degree. He repaid that loan after getting a job. He was never a burden to you. All he wanted from you was some attention and love, which you failed to give him."

"You are a failed father, Saran. And I curse you there will be a time when you will yearn for Yadhu's love and attention, but you will get none...I will make sure of it if I am alive to see that day. Trust me on this. This is a father's curse. From today I have only a grandson...the son of my only daughter Nandhini. I don't want you in my or my grandson's life anymore, "Krishna Ram raged before walking out of his son's home.

Over the years, he had tried hard to convince his son to get over his resentment towards Yadhu. But Saran was blinded by his rage and misconceptions about his ex-wife. The father in him wanted to slap his son and put some sense into his overwhelmed mind, but he was done time and again doing the same task. Mr.Krishna Ram was tired of explaining to his son that Yadhu was indeed his son. He was sure that someone had created all the misunderstandings in his son's life, but what he lacked was evidence. Krishna Ram had was a wise man who had a lot of life experiences, and he knew that once the misunderstandings were cleared, his son will be the one who will have to burn in the pain of regret.

It was a week since his divorce from Anjali, and Yadhu had locked himself inside his small apartment. He was not attending any calls, nor was he going to the hospital. It worried Krishna Ram, Shreya, Arjun, and Shreya's family...the only people who were concerned about Yadhu's well-being. Shreya informed Yadhu's grandfather regarding him not opening the apartment door as she had been to his apartment with Arjun multiple times. Arjun even tried to break the door, but Yadhu shouted at him to leave him alone. She was worried for her best friend and couldn't endure his grief. That's why she requested Yadhu's granddad to comfort him.

When Krishna Ram banged on his apartment door, Yadhu immediately opened the door. He looked disheveled and a complete mess. He was drunk and couldn't even stand up on his feet. Krishna Ram's heart ached to see his grandson in pain. He sat down on the couch opposite Yadhu, looking at him in deep thought.

"Why are you doing this to yourself? "He asked after moments of silence.

Yadhu's eyes were bloodshot, and he answered hoarsely, "I am a bastard ...my mom was a whore...I don't even know who my dad was. This is the bitter truth of my life," He let out a painful chuckle.

"All these years, I hoped that my dad would give me the same love and affection he showers on Harsh one day. But now there is only despair. No one wants me...I just wish that my mother killed me before deciding to elope with her lover. Then I would have been free from this pain," he whimpered, holding his head.

"Never...ever say that your mom is a whore.Don't believe whatever your dad spits; lies are blinding him. Your mom was the most beautiful soul I have ever seen. She was sweet and stubborn at the same time. She became the pillar of our home, being the strong lady that she was. She loved you more than anything, and I don't believe that she will do any such thing that will cause embarrassment to our family. I still can't believe that she is dead. Everything in our lives would have been fine if she hadn't died in that accident. Yadhu, do you want to know how she looked?" He asked Yadhu, who had happy tears in his eyes as he took in his granddad's words.

"Yes..." he sobbed.

Krishna Ram took out a picture from the file he brought with him and passed it to him. Yadhu stared at the image with a lot of emotions welling up inside him.

"For everyone else, you were Yadhu, and for her, you were Nandhu...Nandhini's Nandhu. She thought of you as her little Krishna. No matter what the world says, Nandhini would have never abandoned you. You were her heart. Trust me on his Yadhu. This old man has seen how the world works," His granddad explained, reminiscing the past.

"She is nothing like what dad said," he cried, holding the picture to his heart. It was like he was given a ray of hope in his dark life.

"Now stop destroying your life and live your life like a true man. Just show those people that you are happy and prosperous in your life. That's the best revenge. I don't want you to whine over people who don't understand your worth. And stop crying because Anjali is not the last woman in the world. You will find your soulmate who will love you to the end of the world, "he tried to console his broken grandson.

"There will never be another woman in my life, grandpa. I'm sure of it. I will not survive another heartbreak again," he closed his eyes in pain.

"Trust me, young man. Consider it my sixth sense or blessings. Soon a girl will crash into your life and fill it with endless happiness," his grandpa said to him before leaving his apartment.
