Author's POV

"He is so cute...chwo pinky pinky," Kanika was giving her best effort to wake Shreya's baby, who was sleeping soundly.

"Don't call my son pinky, "Arjun growled as he stood near her beaming proudly. Shreya gave birth at the beginning of her ninth month to their baby boy as she had complications in her pregnancy. Three days later, Priya, Kani, Arjun, and Shreya's mom were now assembled in her room to see the mom and baby. Yadhu's grandpa wanted to come too, but he was weak after staying in the hospital with Saran. So Yadhu promised to take him to see Shreya and the baby once they were discharged from the hospital. Both Shreya and the baby were fast asleep, Shreya due to tiredness of c-section and baby because he is just a baby.

"I will call him whatever I like, 'Kani said, slapping Arjun's hands and tried again to wake the sleeping bundle of joy.

"Why is he sleeping so much? Wakie Wakie...your aunt is here to see you, baby," she sang while Yadhu stood a the corner of the room holding his head, seeing Arjun and her antics.

"You are right, Kani...He is sleeping too much. Son, your future mom-in-law is here...Wake up," Arjun said, caressing his son's head.

"Nanda, Arjun...listen to my advice ...never...ever try to wake a sleeping baby," Priya and Shreya's mom warned both of them angrily.

But they both paid no heed to the mom's advice and kept on troubling the baby. Soon the baby woke up with a faint cry and went into a continuous crying mode as Arjun and Kani hi-fived each other.

"Mission accomplished, "they both squealed, seeing the now awake baby. But looked meekly at each other as the moms and the new mom Shreya glared at them angrily.

"Mom, Priya aunt... throw these two out of this room," Shreya growled as her sleep was disturbed, and the moms had given the baby for her to feed him.

"It's so hot in here. Let's go out for a walk," Kani fanned herself using her hand and said to no one in particular. Yadhu, Kani, and Arjun walked out of the room to give Shreya some privacy. Arjun wanted to stay back there with Shreya, but one angry gaze of Shreya's mom made him rush out of the room.

"They are not even letting me near my wife. They say that I have to stay away from my wife for three months...Mean people...All of them just forgot that I was the reason she gave birth to my son," he grumbled.

"What?...three months?" Kani exclaimed.

"Yes, Didn't you know?" Arjun replied in a duh tone.

"Does that mean I, too, will have to stay away from Yadhu for three months after our child is born?" Kani was bewildered at the revelation." Who made such stupid customs?" She bellowed.

"Exactly, "Arjun agreed.

"Your body goes through a lot of changes after childbirth. And also, a new mother needs a lot of rest. That's the reason why husband and wife kept away from each other following the older tradition, "Yadhu explained to Kani.

"Stupid traditions, "Kani muttered." I won't stay away from you, Nandhu," she pouted like a child, and he smiled back at her affectionately.

"I won't disturb my Shrey...Yadhu, please ask our moms to let me stay with my wife and child, "Arjun begged.

"I don't think Shreya's mom and my mom will let you anywhere near Shreya. But you can request your mom, Arju, "Yadhu chuckled.

"My mom? Are you crazy? She will bloody murder me if she sees me near Shrey. She is dangerous than your and Shrey's mom," Arjun sighed.

The baby's cry was still heard through the closed door, and Yadhu scolded Arjun and Kani.

"Are you both happy now? See how he is crying inconsolably," he nodded in disappointment, and Kani and Arjun were worried hearing the baby's screeching sound. Soon the door opened, revealing Priya.

"Nandhu, please call the doctor. The baby is crying nonstop like he is in pain. And he is not drinking milk," Priya told Yadhu and glared at both Kani and Arjun, and both of them looked guiltily at her.

"Even your mom doesn't think that you are a doctor. See how she asked you to call a doctor, "Kanika mocked, and Arjun started laughing.

"She asked me to call the pediatrician, "Yadhu replied, walking inside, leaving Arjun and Kani outside.

"What?...the same goes for you too...You wasted your time studying your specialization...should have taken up something useful for the family," she taunted Arjun.

"Excuse me ... I'm the best in my specialization," he yelled.

"Yeah...yeah...whatever "she too walked inside the room, followed by Arjun. They both stopped in shock as there was total silence in the room and the scene inside the room was so heartwarming.

Yadhu was holding the baby vertically close to his chest and burping him, and soon the baby fell asleep in his arms while the moms and Shreya looked on with tears in their eyes.

"He is fine now...just gassy ...that's why he cried in pain, "Yadhu said, placing the baby on the cradle carefully. Shreya and everyone was relieved to see the baby sleep peacefully once again.

"You are so lucky, Kani...Yadhu knows how to look after a baby. This moron here knows only to cause trouble for me, "Shreya gritted her teeth, looking at Arjun while he gave back a smug smile.

"Arjun and Nanda...Why don't you both grow up?" Priya taunted them both, and they both showed their tongue at her.

"Yadhu...take back Kanika with you to home. It's not good for her to stay in the hospital for so long, "Shreya's mom Shivanya told, looking at a tired Kani.

"Shivanya is right. All of you go back home. We will be here to take care of Shreya and the baby, "Priya said.

"Yadhu and Kani will go home. I'm staying here," Arjun protested.

"What will you do here? Listen to me and go home, son. Come back in the morning," his mom convinced him.

Arjun reluctantly agreed, and Yadhu and Kani dropped him at his home before they went home.

"I hope our baby comes soon. And also, I now wish that we had a son instead of a daughter, "Kanika said suddenly after reaching their room.

"Why?..." Yadhu was perplexed.

"Because I know that daughters love their dads more than their moms, I will be jealous," she pouted. "Maybe our next child will be a son, right Nandhu, "she asked, looking at Yadhu with a teasing smile.

"There will be no sons for you...only daughters. All our kids will be daughters," Yadhu said possessively, hugging her.

"Why ?" Kanika asked, looking confused.

"Because...I don't want another man to love you," Yadhu said, giving a deep kiss on her lips.

"Who are you? "Kanika asked with a puzzled expression on her face.

"You are not my Nandhu. My Nandhu was never possessive or jealous like this."

"My dear wife...that's because I have never shown my obsessive and possessive side to you yet. You won't be able to stand that version of me," he said as he walked towards her. With every step he took, Kani walked backward and stopped when her back hit the wall.

"Now give it to me, "Yadhu said seductively while Kani's eyes bulged out in surprise.

God...Why did I provoke him? Why do I feel goosebumps over my body? Is he going to do it to me? She cursed herself for teasing him all the time after her memories were back.

"W-what do you want? "Kani stammered.

"A long deep kiss. I want it now, "Yadhu demanded, bringing his face close to hers.

"I-I..."Kanika stuttered as a feeling of nervousness embraced her, and she lowered her eyes as she felt shy for the first time to face her husband.

She closed her eyes and stood there for a few minutes for the kiss to happen...when she didn't feel anything after a few moments, she opened her eyes only to see Yadhu sitting on the bed with a teasing smile on his face.

"So the great Kanika Nanda Varma knows how to be shy," he laughed out loud.

"Nandhu...stop teasing me right now, "Kani yelled and held his neck in anger. And before Yadhu could stop her, she bit his lips passionately.

"That's for teasing me," she said and hid her head on his chest, falling asleep soon.

Meanwhile, at Saran's house.

"I have signed the divorce papers, Harsh. Please sign them too," Anjali said firmly.

"And I don't want to see your melodrama. Just free me from this unwanted relationship. I want to be with my Dev," she said rudely.

You are just jealous that I get to be someone successful like Dev. I don't want to spend another minute with a loser like you. My lawyer will contact you soon. And I'm leaving this house and you right now," she declared, taking her packed bags.

"Anjali...How can you leave me like this? I love you, Anju. I even betrayed my parents and my brother for your sake. How can you do this to me? I will give you every happiness ...I will work hard and get back our company...I promise Anju...I will keep you happy. I will even fall on Priya Varma's and Yadhu's feet to give back our company...Please, Anju...Don't leave me in this situation...I'm all alone now," Harsh sobbed, holding her wrists and stopping from walking out of his life.

"Leave me Harsh...I don't love you anymore...I have better aims in my life...And the only one who can fulfill my dreams now is Devjith. Stop being a hindrance in my life," she screamed, trying to free her hands from him. They both reached the stairs while arguing loudly, and Anjali was about to walk down the stairs when Harsh fell on her feet and begged like a crazy man.

"Anju ...Please don't leave me...I beg you...I love you so much, Anju...I love you truly...that's the reason I bore all your demands without any question. I will die if you leave me alone," he pleaded.

"Then die.." she said, pushing him away brutally.

Due to the force of her push, Harsh stumbled down the stairs and hit his head on the floor. As he lay there bleeding, he saw Anjali walk out of the house and his life without even a single hint of remorse on her face. That was the last view he saw of his wife before everything went black.
