Author's POV

"Grandpyy...Here eat this...Then you will be strong like before," Kanika said, feeding the sliced apples to Krishna Ram. He pouted like a child but ate it slowly. He looked at Kanika tenderly as if he was seeing her for the first time.

Krishna Ram was discharged from the hospital after a week with strict instructions on his diet and medications. Yadhu shifted to his ancestral home along with Kanika, Shreya, and Arjun. Seeing his grandchildren around him was a relief to his storming heart.

"Grandpa...Why are you restless now? Are you feeling any ache?" Shreya asked with concern.

"Nothing, dear...I'm totally fine," he replied, looking straight to the wall.

"Is something bothering you, grandpa? "Yadhu was worried for his grandfather.

"Yadhu...Now I'm fine, my child. Just don't go away from this old man. It's just my greed to see all my grandchildren around me until death separates me from you," he said emotionally.

"Come on, grandpa. You aren't going anywhere until I get my Son married to my niece," Arjun joked.

"Shut up, Arjun, "Shreya glared at him.

"What? You don't want grandpa to bless our children?" he asked teasingly.

"Arjun...Please stop joking around. Grandpa is unwell. Don't make him talk much," Yadhu said slowly.

"In case you both forgot, I'm a doctor too. What grandpa needs now is the happiness and nearness of his family. So stop bothering him with your strict rules and let him enjoy with us, "Arjun stated.

"Says who? "Shreya mocked. "The one who is torturing us with his strict rules."

"That's different. I'm strict because you both are careless," he declared.

"Who is careless? I'm a gynecologist, and I know more than you," she sneered at him.

"Stop fighting like kids, Shreya and Arjun. He is right. I'm now fine. God bestowed me with two lovely granddaughters who are going to give me my great-grandchildren. What more do I want? "Krishna Ram kept his hands on Kanika and Shreya's heads.

"But you both shouldn't tire yourselves in the name of taking care of me. Here a lot of people are there to take care of me. I want my great-grandchildren to be healthy when they come into this world. So now all of you go and have your lunch, "he urged, looking at Yadhu and Arjun.

Yadhu and Arjun reluctantly took Kanika and Shreya towards the dining room. All were worried about grandpa's health, and Yadhu was bothered about Kanika's well-being. An uneasiness grasped him as he stepped his foot in his ancestral home. He felt like someone was telling him from inside his soul that a bad omen would traumatize his very existence.

Meanwhile, Krishna Ram sighed, seeing Yadhu and Kanika's retreating self. A fear grasped him once again as he reminisced the day and the reason for his sudden deterioration in his health.

A week back

"Mr.Krishna Ram, Someone is here to see you." His PA informed him as he was spending his off day at home.

"Ask that person to come to my study, "he said as he walked into his study.

He waited inside his study as the door opened and the person made her appearance before him. He felt the floor under him slipping, seeing the person in front of him. He couldn't believe his eyes.

"Did you miss me, Mr.Krishna Ram? "she mocked, and he felt the coldness in her voice.

"Y-You..." he stuttered as he felt trapped in a turmoil of feelings.

"As I thought,... You didn't expect me, right?" she smirked.

"How's your Son?..." she chuckled, not giving him time to respond.

"Living a happily ever after, right?... Don't worry; I'm back here to break his happy bubble soon. I suffered all these years because of your family. Do you even know why I was silent all these years?" She spat with disgust lacing her voice..." Because I had something precious of mine in your family. Now that one particular thing is within my reach. Soon I will take back what is rightfully mine...Also, your son's business, his peaceful family life...every single thing he cherishes will be ruined by me. For all those humiliations that have been inflicted upon me, I will make sure your Son shed tears of blood in front of me. One more thing...Tell Mr.Saran Krishna that he will never get to see his grandchild, and trust me, he will yearn to see him," she said with hatred, making Krishna Ram look at her in disbelief.

"I-I ..." he couldn't frame words as he stared at the woman n front of him. He felt relieved as well as an unknown fear of seeing her.

"My Son will pay for the sins he has knowingly or unknowingly committed...that's his Karma, but why are you bringing my..." he whimpered, but she cut him off by showing her palm at him.

"I will do whatever I want to do and will involve whoever I wish to in my revenge. I have shed more tears than any woman in this world, but I never did anything to harm your family. But now, the reason for my silence is no longer a part of your family. Save your Son if you can, Mr.Krishna Ram. Soon...Soon I will have a rendezvous with your Son and his family...oops, I mean illegitimate family," she gave him an evil grin leaving the poor old man speechless.

Her words struck him like a tornado, and he clutched his chest in pain as he contemplated the meaning behind her dangerous words. And within minutes, he fell unconscious as he muttered Yadhu's name repeatedly in pain.

Back to present

Krishna Ram closed his eyes in pain. A feeling of devastation yet again filled his heart seeing his grandchildren. He knew a whirlwind soon would destroy his son's life, but he was not worried for Saran. He was concerned for his grandchildren and his great-grandchild. He was contemplating whether to reveal everything to Yadhu, but he was scared of Yadhu's reaction. Krishna Ram was sure that Yadhu would be hurt, and there are chances that he will cut off his relationship with him as well. He was confused and closed his eyes in pain as he couldn't make a decision.

Yadhu's POV

"Kani...Have some more, love," I fed her the food while she pouted tiredly.

"Can you take me to the beach?" She asked with a happy glint in her eyes.

"Sure, Kani...Anything for you," I kissed her cheeks affectionately.

Kanika was almost nearing her sixth month and was getting tired more and more each day. I was concerned for her health. It amuses me every single day how she became an invaluable part of my life. My Kani looked cuter than before with the tiny baby bump. But seeing her tiredness due to pregnancy, I have made up my mind that we will only have one child. I don't want her to suffer another pregnancy.

I still am musing whether my decision to stay with granddad is right or not. Staying here means I will have to face Mr.Saran and his family at some point. Strangely Kanika's presence in my life has rendered them unimportant for me already. I found it shocking that I never remembered Mr.Saran or his family all these past months. Though granddad had abandoned Mr.Saran, it's possible that he would visit his dad any day if he comes to know of grandpa's health condition.

The ringing of the doorbell made me come back to reality. Before I could make my way towards the door, Kani ran outside to open the door.

"Kani...careful," I yelled, running behind her.

"No, Nandhu...I want to open the door first," she giggled and ran but was caught by Arjun.

"Kani...Go slowly. You can open the door but be careful," Arjun said sternly. Kani looked at me desperately to save her from Arjun. I controlled my laughter only to hear Shreya laughing out loud.

"Why are you all laughing?" Arjun raised his eyebrow angrily.

"Go and open the door slowly," he ordered, crossing his arms over his chest.

Kanika laughed meekly after looking at all of us and opened the door gently. I was concentrating on Kanika that I didn't notice the visitors who stood at the doorstep. The visitors were looking at all of us in shock, particularly Kanika and her small baby bump.

"What do you want?"Kanika asked grumpily as she remembered one of them. The unexpected visitors were none other than Mr.Saran Krishna and his wife, Mrs.Devika Saran.

They were looking at Kanika and me unbelievably.

"Is she pregnant?"Mrs.Devika asked, pointing towards Kanika like she has seen something incredulous.

"What does it have to do with you, Mrs.Saran?"Shreya mocked. "Since you are curious, yes, Kanika is pregnant, and Yadhu made her pregnant naturally. But it seems like you doubt it since your darling daughter-in-law claimed that Yadhu is impotent. Now times have changed, and roles are reversed. I would never dare to ask this to another woman because I, of all the people, know how it hurts when someone asks why you don't have a baby yet. But Mrs.Devika and Mr.Saran, I don't regret asking you. Why haven't your daughter-in-law conceived yet? Who is sterile, your Harsh, Anjali, or both? "Shreya taunted angrily.

"Shreya...Where are your manners? Why don't you invite them inside the house?" Arjun smirked, looking apathetically at both of them.

"Ooops..but you are not invited here at all. Grandpa has banned you all from this house, right? "Arjun taunted, and I know that he remembered their ignorance and hurtful words towards me.

"Just let them in, Arjun. I think they are here to meet grandpa," I spoke, hugging Kanika protectively and ignoring my parents completely.

Arjun half-heartedly asked the maid to take them to grandpa's room while Shreya gritted her teeth in rage.

"Yadhu...Grandpa had strictly ordered us that he didn't want anyone from that evil clan. And how could you go soft on them?" Shreya spat as she glared at both of them as they made their way slowly towards grandpa's room.

"Shrey, Arjun...I'm not going soft on anybody. I just let them in because they are here to visit grandpa. And for your information, why are you giving them unwanted importance. Just learn to ignore them like me," I said grimly. When I turned, I saw both Mr.Saran and Mrs.Devika looking at me with pale faces as if they have seen a ghost.
