Author's POV

A hospital somewhere in Bangalore

"How long more will you take to find her? Do you have any idea what I will tell my brother once he wakes up from his unconscious state?", A woman around 50 years old yelled at her manager.

"Mam, our PI's are working day and night to find her,"the manager replied with worry in his voice.

"It's been six months since brother Dev's accident. And we lost her the same day. What will I tell him when he wakes up and asks for his daughter?... That I was ineffective in taking care of her...I don't need your excuses anymore," she said in disappointment.

"Ma'm ...we have finally tracked her location, "a person walked in anxiously.

"Is it true?... where did you find her? Thank God...Finally, we found her," the woman said to her PI happily.

"She is in a small orphanage in Idukki," the PI informed her.

"So what are we waiting for?... Let's go and bring my daughter back," she hurriedly walked out of the hospital with her employees.

After almost 10 hours of journey by car, they reached the supposed orphanage.

"What do you mean by she is not here?" The woman raised her voice on the Mother Superior of the orphanage.

"Please, Madam...Indeed, she was here. But then she went missing two days back? "The Mother told her.

"Missing? And you didn't inform the police," she questioned the Mother.

"Madam, this is a small home for orphan kids, and we are struggling to run this place. On top of it, if we file a missing complaint, the higher authorities will close down this home. Where will the children go from here? The government will assign them to god knows where...Moreover, the girl you referred to wasn't fit to be in this orphanage," the Mother Superior explained.

"What do you mean by that? "The woman asked anxiously.

"She was over 18 and...," but before the Mother could continue, they were interrupted by the woman's PI.

"Madam, we found her. She is in Munnar now," he said quickly.

"Let's go," the woman rushed out of the orphanage in a hurry, not even waiting to hear the Mother's words.

"But Mam, there is a problem," the man hesitated.

"What is it..., "she asked impatiently.

"She is admitted to Frontline hospital, "the man said.

"The hospital where...," she paused, looking at her PI.

"You are right, Madam...It was Dr.Yadhunandhan who admitted her there," he answered, confirming her doubts.

A small smile formed on her lips, and she sighed in relief.

"Finally...Destiny is strange.See how their destiny brought them together," she muttered under her breath.

"Let's go...I hope nothing is serious, "she ordered her men.

"Madam...there is something you should know about her and Dr.Yadhunandhan," the PI said cautiously.

He then started briefing her on the details he learned, and the color drained from her face, and her expression turned grim.

Arjun's POV

"At least now tell me what happened?" I questioned a sobbing Shreya as I drove her to the hospital.

"Y-Yadhu..." she hiccuped, wiping her tears away.

"What happened to him? Accident?...he was drunk, right? Don't worry, Shrey. It will be a minor accident...he will be alright," I vented out all my thoughts as my heart was racing in anxiety.

"Nothing is alright, Arju...he -he tried to commit suicide. Dr.Raghav found him in an unconscious state inside his cabin," Shreya elaborated, making me shocked.

"Suicide?...but why would he do something stupid like that? More than anyone else, Yadhu knows how precious life is. Is it because of that interview?" I couldn't digest the fact that my best friend will attempt something like this.

"H-He had admitted a girl there before he tried to kill himself," Shreya continued.

"A girl?... Why was a girl with him? "I asked more to myself than to her.

"I, too, don't know, Arju. My mind is not working," she whimpered.

"Don't cry, Shreya. He will be alright. Dr.Raghav found him, right? There cannot be much damage caused," I tried to console her.

"No...he is critical. Did you fucking forget that he is a doctor?" Shreya cried out in frustration.

I looked at her outburst in confusion, but soon it clicked what she meant by saying that Yadhu is a doctor. He surely knew how to make the right incision to cause blood loss. I didn't know what to tell Shreya anymore because my mind was in jeopardy.

The moment we reached the hospital, Shreya and I rushed towards the OT. There was complete chaos in the hospital because of Yadhu's suicide attempt. The duty doctors were relieved to see us.

Dr.Raghav came towards us and briefed us on Yadhu's condition. Yadhu had lost a lot of blood and was critical. Shreya and I prepared ourselves to get inside the OT and treat Yadhu. After what felt like hours, we were finally relieved when Yadhu's condition was stabilized and moved to ICU.

Shreya refused to leave his side and sat beside him though she was tired. I left the ICU and was about to go to Dr.Raghav's room when I remembered the girl who Yadhu had admitted to the hospital.

I reached the post-trauma care room where she was supposed to be and saw Dr.Radhika, who had a look of dismay on her face.

"Hello, Dr.Radhika.How's the girl?" I greeted and asked her without beating around the bush.

"Hello, Dr.Arjun.She is stable now and under sedation, "she said to me and hesitated to continue further.

"What is bothering you, doctor?" I heard Shreya asking from behind me.

"It's just that..." she stammered again.

"What? "Shreya asked impatiently.

"Dr.Yadhu asked me to do the Routine Medical Examination for sexual Assault on her, "she answered softly.

"And? "Shreya asked her again.

"Dr.Shreya...there was no assault on her, but yes, she had sexual intercourse, which caused her hymen to stretch and indicates that it was her first time... though not forced, still I cannot say anything on this because the girl was drugged," she explained.

"What the hell? "Shreya and I shouted together.

"There were traces of the drug in her blood and..."Dr.Radhika stopped.

"And?" Shreya asked her impatiently.

"The girl is mentally unstable," she completed shocking both of us.

"That means someone has taken advantage of her condition," Shreya snorted in anger.

As we were discussing, a lab assistant approached Shreya with a file in his hands.

"Dr.Shreya...Dr.Yadhunandhan asked me to hand over the reports to you before he...." the lab assistant hesitated as he forwarded the file towards Shreya.

"Thank you...You may leave," Shreya said, taking the reports in her hand.

"Was the police informed?" Shreya questioned Dr.Radhika again.

"No...Dr.Yadhu said he would inform the police, but before he could..." she trailed off.

"Alright. See you, doctors," Shreya took the file and walked towards the MD's cabin not before gesturing at me to check the girl named Kanika.

"So Dr.Radhika ...just show me the girl's case sheet," I requested her as we both walked inside the post-trauma care unit.

"Sure, doctor," she replied, hurrying her way inside.

I examined the girl who was under the effect of sedation. Her age seemed to be around 20 to 24.Dr.Radhika briefed me about her examination and mentioned an injury on her head at least six months old. As a neurosurgeon, I reexamined the girl to find that Dr.Radhika's examination was indeed accurate. It seemed like the girl had an accident as I observed fading scars in her head and body. I directed Dr.Radhika and her team of interns to perform a CT scan to determine whether her mental state is due to the accident or by birth.

I walked out of the trauma care unit to be greeted by the local SI, who came towards me with a friendly smile. Though I gave him a faint smile, I was scared deep inside for Yadhu as I didn't know what exactly connects Yadhu with Kanika. My mind was filled with uneasiness. My heart sank thinking of what was going to happen in Yadhu's life now. But I believed in Yadhu more than anything, and it hurt me even to believe that Yadhu had hurt the girl intentionally. I felt a storm forming in all of our lives slowly...now, the only option left was to find calm in all this chaos.
