Chapter 39

A week later

The morning was as sweet as any other morning, birds chirping gently twittering among themselves and sunshine was yet subdued which seemed enjoyable to busk in. But Sungmi wasn't enjoying the morning like the way she always did as she slept in, which made her rush things.

"I'm so sorry Jungkook, I couldn't make breakfast, I promise I will make it up for you. "

Sungmi quickly wore a pair of her flat, as Jungkook followed behind her, ready to hit the road.

"It's ok, we can stop by a coffee shop to grab something. Don't worry."

"You sure ?"

Jungkook placed a hand over Sungmi , assuring that it wasn't a big deal.

"Umm, can I drive the car today?"

Sungmi asked him nervously as she never asked to drive his expensive car.

"Why not?!"

A leer stretched across his face as he grabbed the key of the car and locked the door of the house.

"But we gotta run or else we gonna be late, princess."

He winked at Sungmi, taking her aback.

On the way to their office, as promised Jungkook stopped nearby a bakery to grab a couple of cup of coffee and something to nibble while Sungmi decided to wait for him in the parking lot.

This is the chance.

Sungmi ignited the engine, as she left the parking lot, leaving Jungkook behind and the screech of the tyre.

I'm sorry Jungkook , but I had to.

Guilt was surging through her vein but she had no choice. She never thought that she would turn heartless toward a person she loved the most but she had a specific intention for which she decided to leave him.

An hour later

Jungkook had been calling nonstop and texting her but there was no sign of her response. He managed to go to his office as he had a very important meeting.

On the other hand,Sungmi decided to reply the text of Jungkook so that he wouldn't call the cops for her disappearance. Jungkook being worried for her was a clearly evident in the text but Jungkook couldn't help but to call her even in the middle of the meeting.

Sungmi was about to text back when her phone started to ring, making her jolt up from her seat out of bewilderment. She hurriedly strolled to balcony to receive the call.

"Yobu..."

"Where the hell have you been. You have no idea, I thought I lost you."

Jungkook was very upset that Sungmi didn't even bother to text him about her where-beings and he couldn't hide his frustration.

"I'm so sorry Jungkook. I was so caught up with my work that as soon as I enter the office, I began working, forgetting to call you completely."

Jungkook heaved a sign of relief at the other side of the phone. Where as Sungmi looked around her to check whether she was alone or not.

"I'm sorry Jungkook-ah. Please forgive me. Please~ ?"

"I'm not angry with you Sungmi. I was just upset. Anyway, we are going for a evening date. So wear something nice and come at 'LA COZZA INFURIATA'. I think you know the address, right ?"

"Yeah. But what about your car ?"

"I'm sending someone to fetch the car. So give the key to that person ok?"

"Yeah and you also don't forget to have lunch because you didn't have proper breakfast."

"Who's fault was that?"

A chuckle escaped from Jungkook's mouth making Sungmi embarrassed.

"I'm sorry."

"Alright , alright. I'm still in my meeting. See you later."

"Bye"

The line went dead, making Sungmi dead in inside as well. She badly wanted to go on a date with Jungkook but she had other plans.

It was 12 am when Jungkook came home with a bouquet of white roses whereas Sungmi was seating on the floor of living room typing away in her laptop, only sound of keyboard punched resonate through the room.

When Sunmgi saw Jungkook approaching her with the roses in his clutch, she pretended to be confused.

"What's with the roses Jungkook- ah ?"

Jungkook plopped on the coach, losing his necktie and covered his eyes with his arm.

"We were supposed to go on a date, remember ?"

Sungmi was well aware of the date but feign to forget about the event.

"Oh my god, I totally forgot about the date."

"You won't even receive my call."

Sungmi didn't want to lie any further so she already kept the phone in upstairs so that she wouldn't know about Jungkook's unanswered calls.

"It's in my room and I didn't hear it. I'm so sorry Jungkook , I didn't mean to stood you up."

She crouched before him, messaging his hands. He seemed very tired and he was done for the day. He peered through behind his arm as he looked at Sungmi's puppy face which seemed quite remorse for not attending the date.

"Did you have dinner ?"

Knowing Sungmi very well, he knew that she wouldn't let him go to bed with an empty stomach so he nodded. But the truth was he lost his appetite waiting for Sungmi for hours after hours. He felt so bad being stood up but he didn't want Sungmi to let her know that it hurt his ego.

"I'm going to sleep. Good night."

Jungkook uttered, as he stood up and left the room, without staring a glance at her.
