Nate's POV

As I was skillfully beating each and every other guy in the room, there had to be a final match. Who would I be playing against this time?: a girl. A shy, short, and charming girl who was around my age. I was immediately intrigued by her and wondered if she even had the brains to outsmart my speed. As we started our match, things already began feeling very intense. She was pretty quick too, and almost seemed to know the game better than I did.

Unfortunately, she was no match, and she failed to beat me in the end. I could tell she was a little bummed out, I almost felt sorry. She shook my hand afterwards and called it a good game. I agreed and everyone moved on to other festivities, conversing, eating, and continuing to play the game casually.

The girl left to hang out with a friend she had come with and a few other people that seemed to know her much better than I did. I really wanted to get to know her better because she seemed like a bright and happy young girl who'd be easy to talk to, but she was pretty occupied as it was and I decided against it. Not to mention, she was absolutely gorgeous.

After this first encounter, I didn't really see her all that much, except after school sometimes of course. I always swing by the band hall every now and then to grab things from my locker since its in the performing arts building; which is where Anna hangs out because she's a band student.

I found that she was sitting on a bench by herself like always and I said 'hi' quickly before going to my locker. As I was going to go home, she stood up and looked a bit nervous before she spoke.

"Hey, Nate. Do you mind if I walk to your house with you?" I would later find out that Letti had invited her over to help bake cookies and such.

As we walked, I decided to get to know her better. We talked about how crazy girls are always bothering me and how she always ends up with guys that are assholes. To be completely honest, I started liking her a bit. She was pretty funny and she understood what I felt.
