Dulce's lover
The beam of light brought their crew under the stars somewhere in the Sahara desert underneath the moon and stars.
"Where is Aunt Mawu? I don't see her," said Star
"We are in Guanche territory now," said Shango. "Mawu gives her Moonlight to someone else, here."
"Achuguayo," said Dulce. "Hello, Uncle," she said with a smile, waving at the moon.
The Moonlight beamed down. A man that looked much like Magec took form, but more masculine in appearance. The lines of the facial features were harder, and the body more tightly toned. He also had white hair, tucked under his blue turban. His beard flowed past his knees, that he kept tied in a braid.
"Hello, little one," said the Moon King of Kings. "Aren't you looking most lovely this evening. And who are these beautiful young ladies with you?"
Star giggled like a little school girl at the introductions. Ahuana was a bit more queenly like as she allowed him to kiss her hand. Shango merely shook hands with him, both of them preferring not to get too touchy with one another.
"We were wishing to get to know one another better," said Ahuana. "I would love to be able to greet your family."
"Oh yes, we would!" said Star.
"There isn't much family to meet on my end," said Achuguayo. "If you wish to meet the start of our family, it would be Magec."
"We just met him on our way from the Deep," said Dulce.
"Olokun must be in the mood again," said Achuguayo.
"OH she is," said Star excitedly. "I have yet to see her in her other forms, but the one she has currently chosen is just beautiful!"
"A lovely jellyfish form," said Dulce.
"That's going to be an interesting new race," said Achuguayo. "Come, why don't I take you to the palace? You will meet everyone."
"I am so excited!" said Star.
"I knew I would like your enthusiasm," said Dulce with a smile. She had been to the palace many times, but Star's influence and child like wonder was rubbing off on her.
Achuguayo's moon beams took them all to the Sky Dome. The Berbers, the Alusi, and the Orisha's had all grown so large now, they each had their own domain. Dulce and Shango were used to such things, but for Ahuana and Star, it was all something new, as they had both been raised on the Earthly plane below. Before them all, three castles stood.
"They're so wonderful," said Star.
"And so different," said Ahuana.
The home of mosaics and shades of red are my home," Shango proudly.
"That means it's my home too," said Star.
"I guess so, little one," said Shango.
"Which one is my home?" asked Ahuana.
"Aren't you Benin just like us?" asked Shango. "An Orisha?
"I am half Benin. The other half is Igbo. That mean's my mother's chosen surname is Alusi."
"That would be the palace of white," said Achuguayo.
"The one with all the interestingly cut windows?" asked Ahuana.
"That's the one."
And the lovely mauve castle consisting shapes of many rectangles is my home," said Dulce proudly. "The castle of Gaunche."
"It's so wonderful," said Star. "I can't wait to go inside."
"Come, let us enter," said Achuguayo as he led the way.
They traveled by thought again, skipping the doors and long stairwells entirely. They opened their eyes into a quaint courtyard, centered with a flowing fountain. Tiles decorated the grounds beneath their feet. Many plants and flowers decorated the place as well. Plush and comfortable lounge chairs were seated nearby the fountain, with tables of food and drinks.
"Bouchiar," said Dulce as she popped a wafer in her mouth. "I haven't had these in so long."
"I want to try some too!" said Dulce.
"What are these? These are delicious," asked Ahuana.
"Woah," said Shango as he took a sip of the nearest drink. "Has a bit of of kick."
"Berber whiskey," said Achuguayo.
"Not bad," Shango smiled.
Singing was heard in the distance.
"Oh that's so lovely! Where's it coming from?" asked Star.
"That's the trans sisters," said Achuguayo. "They come in the highest of sopranos to the deepest base the ear can fathom.
"Look," said Ahuana. "The voices are coming from the fountain."
"That is the fountain of long lost lovers," said Dulce. "It is said that if you peek into the waters you will find the face of your true love."
"Have you ever looked into the water before?" asked Ahuana.
"No," said Dulce with a slight toss of her hair.
"Why not?" asked Star.
"I was never sure that I wanted to know before. Am I even ready to commit?"
"I don't know that I am ready to yet either," said Ahuana. "It's not that I don't wish to fall in love someday. I just don't feel like I have even discovered myself yet."
"But the fountain is singing," said Star. "Surely somebody among us must peer inside."
"Alright, I'll peek," said Dulce with an exaggerated pout. She peered in. Her mouth hung open in a gasp. Her eyes widened in shock. Her caramel tone took on a fainter hue. Her Uncle Achuguayo ran quickly to catch her before she fell. Shango was by her side as well.
"I don't think I want to look inside anymore," said Star.
"I don't either," said Ahuana.
Shango looked at his young sister, Star, and his cousin, Ahuana. He looked back at his cousin, Dulce, still shaking. He looked back at Achuguayo, and to the water, and back at him again. He really did not want to do this, but he had to know why she was so scared.
He peered in. A light shown upon his solemn face.
"Big brother?" asked Star.
He looked at her, and then he looked back at the water.
"All is well, little one. You will meet your lover sooner than you know."
"Why are you so long faced, then?" asked Star.
"Apparently there will be a long chain of events that will take place before young Ahuana will meet the one. "
"What kind of chain of events?" she asked.
"You will be attacked many times by your own kin," he said. "They will recognize power within you, and they will hate you for it."
"I have surpassed these deep water cousins of mine many times," said Ahuana. "I'm not afraid. I have a feeling that this was meant to be, so that I may discover my own capabilities within myself."
"You may be right," said Shango.
"But why is Dulce so frightened?" asked Star.
"Guayota," said Dulce.
