Forty-nine: MTOABB
🐞MTOABB🐞
"Were you serious about us two sharing a room?" I turn to stare at him as Chloe and Cass unload the various luggage from the trunk of the car.
"It's up to you, I won't push it if you say no," he claims.
And I hated his answer, all I wanted was a yes or a no, but more so a yes than anything.
I nod, not knowing what else to say.
"Are you coming inside or what?" Chloe asks, already holding the door ajar with her one hand. I glance back, finding no one else outside but me and the Cass's car.
I move my feet towards her and she disappears into the little cottage.
"Why don't everyone go freshen up in their rooms and we will meet back here?" He turns to look at everyone and Cassandra makes the first move, dragging her suitcase up the stairs and Chloe soon follows.
"What have you decided?" He asks, waiting for me to answer him.
I take in a deep breath. I wanted to say yes, and deep down I knew that was what going to leave my mouth once I opened it. I wonder if he has meant someone as eager as me who is willing to throw themselves at him so easily.
"I can sleep on the couch, Rossita. I don't mind." He stares at me with his hands in his front pockets as he balances on the balls of his feet.
"It's your place, I would rather not impose," I tell him and he lets out a titter in response as he shakes his head.
"I invited you, didn't I?" He asks and I nod affirmatively. "So what is your answer to my question?"
"Yes."
"Yes?" He teases with a smirk lingering at the corner of his lips.
"Don't make me repeat myself, I might just change my mind," I tell.
"And we wouldn't want that," he adds as he throws his head back in laughter. "Let's go get ourselves comfortable." We both start heading up the stairs, him behind my every step with or bags in one hand.
We enter the unlit room and he gestures to the switch and I move to switch it on. There was a cosy bed situated in the middle of the room, complemented by bedside lamps on both sides. I move to open the two glass doors leading to the balcony that overlooks the pool and I am stunned by the view.
"You like it?" He whispers into my ear as he gently grabs my waist from behind.
I nod. "I love it," I say honestly. "Thanks for inviting me."
"Thanks for accepting." He nooks my neck and I let out a relieved sigh. "And now?" he asks, solely focusing his breath on my nook which sends shivers down my spine.
"I wish we could stay like this forever," I admit unashamed and he hums in response.
"I am going to kiss you now."
"No," I say bluntly, because this time I needed to have control.
"I didn't ask, Rossita." He turns me around, cupping my cheeks. He stares at me and sneaks a peak at my lips before smiling. He leans in to kiss me and I show my willingness as I part my lips to let him in and stretch my hands to play with his ringlets. He smiles. He slips his tongue in mine and I gasp. He draws me in, placing one hand on the small of my back. I slightly open my eyes to take in the beauty of a man I once denied myself of. His hair very much messy from my tugging, doesn't however take away from his beauty. I watch as he creases his eyebrows and suddenly we're both staring at each other as his eyes flutter open. Oh shit!
"Rossita..." he starts, but I immediately cut him off already knowing what he was about to say.
"I know, sorry," I whisper and he nods, but he lets go, pulling his hand away from my back and taking a step backwards.
"Let's go join the others downstairs," he tells me and I don't argue.
We move to the kitchen where Cass and Chloe are seated and I join to sit next to my sister. She gives me a knowing look and I ignore it as I look towards Gomes.
"Are we sightseeing tonight?" Chloe asks once she realises the built up tension in the room.
"I was thinking we do that tomorrow and today we relax by the pool after I cook us some dinner," he says looking at everyone and finally holding my stare for a second before looking away.
"I'll help you cook," Chloe and I say in unison.
"I got it ladies." He smiles, amused at our little gesture.
We all leave him in the kitchen. Cass heads back upstairs as me and Chloe make our way outside - roaming around the little cottage.
"They have a beautiful place up here," I say and she nods in agreement.
"Has he brought you here before?" I ask curiously.
"No he hasn't, Rossita. You need to stop with this. What happened between him and I is in the past and we're friends now," she assures me.
"Would you be okay with this if me and Brody did the same thing and still stayed in touch?" I ask and she remains quiet for a minute.
"I am your sister and I give you my word - nothing but friendship remains between Prinse and I."
"I know, you're right. He is just cold and hot with me and I never know what side I am getting with him," I tell her and she raises her brow for me to elaborate further.
I shrug not wanting to talk about it any further. We soon fall into a comfortable silence as we enjoy the fresh air that the trees give out. Soon after she turns towards me. "I'm going to go change into something more comfortable," she says and I acknowledge her words with a nod. Immediately after that she leaves and I am left to enjoy what mother nature is willing to share with me. I stay like this for a few more minutes, looking out into the forest from the patio.
"Dinner is ready," he states as he opens the door, leaving it ajar as he returns back inside. I sigh - tell me what it is that has got your mood in a fog, Gomes.
I enter through the door and make sure to close it behind me.
They were all seated and waiting for me. I pull a chair out next to Gomes.
"I hope you guys don't mind, we usually hold hands and go around saying one thing we are thankful for that happened today," he says. "Cassandra will lead us and I'll finish." He grabs my hand and holds firmly on it - nothing in the way he held it spoke comfort.
"Thankful for the hands that prepared the food," Cassandra says.
"Thankful for the people around the table," Chloe adds onto what Cass said and all of a sudden it's my turn and I am suddenly blank. Everyone goes silent, waiting for me to say something, anything really and I too wait, allowing my brain time to come up with something.
"Rossita?" He whispers, this time gently rubbing on my palm with his thumb.
"Thankful for the beautiful scenery," I stifled out, clearing my throat right after.
"Thankful for friends," he finishes off and we all open our eyes, mine focusing on him while everyone dishes to the lasagna and big pieces of perfectly cut out bread.
Am I just a friend, Gomes? Am I really? Didn't know friends kiss - and they surely don't look at each other the way we do. .
